"You took your time." Em said with a smile, keeping watch while Hammond hid the body.
He lifted the heavy statue from the ground and shifted it forwards an almost unnoticeable distance before moving the body behind it. "Took my time did I, princess? Well maybe next time I won't show up at all. How'd you like that?" He chuckled, knowing he had her beat there. "Now let's try to keep the next guards from attacking us. Try stay stealthy." He sighed as Em disappeared back into the shadows and continued onwards silently. He shook his sword, thankful that it wasn't able to become bloody, and then continued after her. He wondered where the others had run off to, whether they were behind them or in front, whether they'd been captured...
Ari was, to put it simply, lost. When Hammond had run off into the tower she had lost sight of him and must have taken a wrong turn somewhere. So far she hadn't met any guards but that lucky streak couldn't last for much longer.
A group of guards passed by where Ari was hiding, seemingly completely oblivious to the girl.
Em tiptoed further into the prison, coming across a stairwell.
| |
She couldn't believe it. They had walked right past, not even batting an eyelid. She must be better at hiding then she thought. Ari waited for a minute, then followed the guards.
The door opened and noone was seen inside, however a few seconds after she stepped in a porticullis slammed down over the doorway, luckily no alarms were sounded however it was only a matter of time before someone came by and noticed the closed gate, there was, luckily, a lockbox on the interior (presumably used in case one of the guards accidentally triggered the trap) that appeared pickable
Meanwhile a bewildered and most likely dumbfounded Magnis wandered around aimlessly after having forgotten his current objective.
A guard was running through a cross-section near Magnis but stopped suddenly and waved to Magnis "You there! follow me to the west wing, a riot's broken out!"
"Sure thing food-I mean freind who I have no intention of eating what-so-ever!" Magnis replied following the guard that had motioned him to follow. "Who is rioting by the way?"
"the prisoners, idiot! now follow me, double-time!" The guard said, taking off at a run
"Err..Okay!" Magnis said with a stutter as he followed behind the guard, himself too caught up in the excitement of the moment to remember about his comrades who at this moment were somewhere else.
| |
As Magnis approached the doorway to the west wing the guard in front of him was clotheslined by a prisoner holding a chair, a second stepped out and promptly repeated the process for Magnis, He landed with a loud "thunk" before falling unconcious
Magnis's eyes opened to see that he was now trapped in a room with a slight concussion. Surrounding were boxes, delicious card board boxes. "No time for food I must escape this....par-parell-pararb-Damn it, I must escape this trouble!" He shouted as he tried to think of a cunning plan to escape this room.
The hinges on the stockades were quite obviously not rated for viking-related stress and would likely break quite easily with enough force.
"Hmm.....Hinges. I remember hearing a story about a guy who broke some hinges by getting a goat to charge into the door." Magnis placed his hand around his chin to brush a non-existent beard while he thought. "Grrrr.......I'm pretty sure I can find a goat in one of these crates." And with that display of stupidity he began to search the crates for an animal that could break down the door.
One particularly large box read "WARNING! BOX MAY CONTAIN
"Hmmmmm.....I wonder why the box is growling?" Magnis said before coming onto a shocking realization. "Oh No! The goat must be hurt, I'm coming to save you from the box Mr. Goat!" And with a display of even more stupidity he ran over to the box and proceeded to try and open it.
Ari jumped when the gate crashed down behind her. She first tried lifting it but only succeeded in hurting her wrists. She looked around the room, whilst massaging her wrists, and noticed the lockbox on the wall. She walked over and saw that it required a key to work. Ari started to search the room.
Em and Hammond continued, hearing noises from the floors above.
As Em opened the door at the top of the stairs she was greeted by a friendly diplomatic-looking man "Ah, at last you've come! now those blasted spiders won't have a chance, them and the worms, we'll break up their alliance yet!" He exclaimed excitedly.
"Uhh... Excuse me?" She asked the man, confused.
"The worms and the spiders." The man replied in a tone sugesting she should know what the bloody devil he was talking about "They're everywhere, always plotting against me! but now that you're here we can figh them off once and for all!" He said, pulling out and invisible sword and pointing it into the air "Onward, to victory!" he shouted, charging forth and hitting the wall, he landed on his back and said "Damn those worms! they've erected some sort of forcefield! worry not, I'll get our top scientists working on it!" He then removed two rats from his robe and said "Jenson! Bjorn! we have a worm forcefield blocking us from the battlefield, get to it!" He then tossed said rats at the wall, they bounced off and hit the floor, quite obviously dead. "Yes, very good!" The man exclaimed, quite satisfied with their amazing work.
Em giggled a little, not knowing what to do. She looked at Hammond for help, but he just shrugged.
Magnis watched as the leopard broke down the door, amazing that such a thin creature could do so much damage. "That'll do goat, That'll do."
"Aha! a gap in their defence!" The man exclaimed "Wait...how did you know about that?" He queried, taking on a suspicious tone, he rubbed his chin thoughtfully before gasping "YOU! you're a worm spy, aren't you!? I KNEW IT! Well you shan't be leading me into a trap you sniveling trollop!" He yelled, though Em hadn't even given an answer. he pointed his invisible sword at Em and yelled "Have at ye!" swinging wildly at the girl with out actually touching her, he then promptly slammed the door.
Em stared at the door for a second, dumbfounded.
"But...I struck you down! unless..." He gasped again "YOU ARE ONE OF THE DAMNED! back, foul demon, you shan't be draining my lifeblood you, you, HEATHEN!" He yelled, making a cross with his fingers.
"Shut up!" She yelled back at him, walking down the corridor to get away from him. She kept an eye out for any rooms that looking like prison cells.
| |
Hammond shrugged again. Em had a suspicion he was mad at her for always running ahead. She turned back to the loud man, who backed away from her. "Hey, I ain't a demon. I'm here to help you fight the worms." She said to him, hoping to calm him down enough for directions.

Hammond removed his blade, slightly disturbed as the guard separated up to where he had cut but quickly got back to the matter at hand. He grabbed the body and pulled it along the floor, attempting to hide it in relative darkness behind a statue. He grabbed the statue and tried to pull it quietly forwards to give the body enough room to be fully concealed.
