From the hand of Former Grand Moff Darius Taarthon

"I, Darius Taarthon, former 'Grand Moff' (For a total of two years) of the Galactic Empire, write this memoir today of all days, for today is the day I die. Of course, they claim to be giving me a 'Fair Trial' where my war crimes will be judged by a 'council of my peers', but I can see it in their eyes, oh yes, all this trial is, is simply a prerequisite to my Execution at the hands of the 'benevolent' Galactic Republic. The years since the destruction of the Second Death Star and reestablishment of the Republic have been... Turbulent... For the Empire. Where once it ruled the Galaxy, now only a cluster of planets desperate to escape it's clutch remain. Where before, Generals could confidently say 'We have reserves' before sending countless Stormtroopers to their deaths on a suicide mission, now the Empire must make use of every soldier.

The attempt on the Emperor's life left him mortally wounded, he's dying slowly, and all the other moffs can think about is which one of them will usurp the throne once he's gone. While the Republic has thrived, Skywalker, with the guidance of the traitor 'Vader', has rebuilt the Jedi order, only five years have passed, and it's ranks have already swelled with young, wide eyed children, hoping to be Jedi! And even experienced 'Master' Jedi! The Emperor responded with the reestablishing of the Sith, however they seem to be more concerned with increasing their own power or stealing the Emperor's throne then fighting the Jedi. After the failed 'Battle of Coruscant', in which yours truly was captured, the Empire and the Republic have entered into a 'cease fire' of sorts, while there isn't any 'real' war, there are still conflicts and skirmishes going on in the shadows, the war has only gone cold. The Republic fights to put down a dying Tyrant, and The Empire fights to restore it's strength and glory. All the while, there appears to be a third spectator, I haven't found out what his goal truly is, and perhaps never will, however he seems to be manipulating everyone, perhaps even the Emperor himself! I've met this man once, I've seen him stand up as a young and Charismatic Imperial Senator, as a cunning commander, and as the Emperor's personal lapdog... Yet I see something behind his eyes, the motive, the determination, this man is planning something... And whatever it is, may very well shake the entire galaxy to it's core..."

Hello Everyone! If the Narrative didn't give it away, this is a sort of "Alternate History" Star Wars Role Play. In this universe, the Second Death Star was destroyed, however a few critical events cause it to diverge from the Canon Star Wars Time Line. In it, the Jedi and Sith weren't destroyed as much as previous attempts had hoped, with several Jedi and Sith still existing on a Semi-Private level (A few towns knew that the hermits outside of their villages were in truth, Jedi or Sith in hiding) The Emperor wasn't thrown down a shaft in the Death Star, but instead simply stabbed by Vader. This lead to him surviving but only through several Medical Procedures and while hooked up to a great deal of life support... That hasn't kept him from being skilled in the force and avoiding the many other attempts to take his life, however. Finally, Vader also survived, long enough to provide Luke as much guidance as he needed to reform the Jedi and keep the republic from falling into the same mistakes that lead to Palpatine becoming the emperor before peacefully passing away in his sleep, knowing that he had managed to at least partially redeem himself.

I plan for this RP to have a good deal of intrigue, along with the action that goes along with Star Wars! So Without Further Adieu.

Character Sheet

Charter List: The Character sheets will go here after I accept them.

I have a couple of questions that may help me to write a character:

1) Will PvP combat be involved, and how will it work? As in, will you take a hand in any PvP fighting, or leave it up to us to deal with how a fight resolves?

2) Where is the RP beginning, and how do the various factions take a hand in the setting?

3) How many Force-oriented characters are you planning to accept? If everyone is a Jedi or Sith things might get a little hectic.

Thanks,
CA.

Well to answer your questions.

1.) I mostly plan on leaving it up to the Other Role Players to handle the fighting aspect, however I may intervene if it seems like someone is being deliberately unfair or pulling Deus Ex Machinas off at every other turn

2.) The Roleplay will most likely begin on Coruscant, despite being the Imperial Capital, it has had to be a lot more open to members of the republic in order to avoid complete annihilation in another war, so that would give people in the Republic and The Empire ample chance to meet each other and interact with one another.

3.) If it looks like there's an over-abundance of Jedi or other force sensitive characters, then I simply wont accept any more, I don't want the whole role play to be composed entirely of Jedi or Bounty Hunters or Storm Troopers after all.

Color me interested. I'll have a sheet up as soon as possible.

Star Wars: Cold War!

Welcome to the updated section of Star Wars: Cold War!

I have been given control of this RP, so all questions and submissions can be sent to me via PM. I will use this post to update the events of the RP, and categorize characters and plotlines to bring newcomers up to speed. So without further ado, let's dive into it!

This section will be updated as I have more time.

Part 2: Characters and NPCs Found Here.

Soviet Heavy:
Finally a place where my Expanded Universe knowledge comes in handy! Will Ysanne Isard be an important character? The way you describe things, it sounds like the RP will be set shortly after the Liberation of Coruscant. If that's the case, then The Lusankya is still buried under Imperial City.

Sorry for the late reply on this. The RP follows an alternate series of events (as I described earlier) so Coruscant hasn't really been "Liberated" so much as the Republic forced the Empire to make huge concessions. To the point where Coruscant seems more like a "Neutral Zone" for both sides to meet rather then the Imperial Capital. But yes, the Lusankya is still buried, and Ysanne Isard is one of the many imperials vying for the Emperor's throne.

Second part of the update.

I just noticed that you have this set in 9 ABY. In which case, Lusankya has already escaped Coruscant, and is possessed by the New Republic. In the standard timeline, Isard attempted to steal the Lusankya by pretending to aid the New Republic against the Ciutric Hegemony, only to be shot by Iella Wessiri.

So disregard the Lusankya's escape, it already happened.

However, this time period also has the return of Thrawn from the Unknown Regions. I wonder how he would react to the cold war.

I'm admittedly not the best when it comes to the Expanded Universe, however you definitely seem to be knowledgeable in it, if you want, you can submit another profile and play some of the Expanded Universe characters like Thrawn, you definitely seem to know what you're talking about. =)

This is going into an Alternate Universe, but that does not mean that the characters should change their known personalities to fit into it. Going by what you propose, here is some information that would help.

That the Emperor survived negates anything that happened in Dark Empire. There, the Emperor's clone began a massive invasion following the defeat of Thrawn at the end of 9ABY. If the Emperor survives Death Star 2, then the clones aren't needed, except for replacement organs.

Thrawn is loyal to the Emperor, so he wouldn't go on a usurping spree against Palpatine. And Palpatine himself, despite being weakened, is never going to fulfill any peace treaty. More likely this is a ruse to weed out traitors within the Empire before mobilizing once more.

The main sticking point here is the Battle of Coruscant that happened in 6 ABY. In the proper continuity, Isard let the capital fall relatively easily, and then began a guerrilla war with her remaining ships. Here, the presence of the Emperor at Imperial Center means that security would be much higher. The New Republic still wins, but at massive cost to both sides. This diminished strength then affects everything that comes afterwards, making the majority of post 6 ABY events altered by the change.

Once the Empire was uprooted from Coruscant, their capital moved to Bastion in the Outer Rim. Much of the Mid Rim and Expansion Region had fallen to the New Republic, cutting off the Imperials outer holdings and their fortress worlds in the Deep Core. Byss was the Emperor's private retreat in the Deep Core. Here, the Super Star Destroyer Eclipse was built, as well as four Sovereign Class SSDs. Each of these carried a superlaser comparable to one of the focusing beams used on the Death Star. Not strong enough to blow up a planet, but enough to irradiate the surface and crack the crusts.

Assuming these were under construction for years in secrecy, they could still play a role.

I'd rather not play the part of an established character. I think it would be better if you kept them as NPCs, so that multiple people can partake in conversations with them.

Soviet Heavy:

By God, you really do know your Star Wars O_o

No offense of course, it's just that Star Wars has a lot of lore and background, and I'm surprised someone knows that much.

If you don't want to play an Established character, then very well. Although I might still try and come to you for advice if I try my hand at some of the EU characters, just so I don't write them in a way that contradicts their established personalities.

I'm waiting on just a few more profiles (Maybe just one Imperial and one Republic character) and then I'll open up the RP.

If you do intend to play as an EU character, go to the Star Wars wiki, find them, and go to the section Personalities and Traits. That will give you a good indication of how they act.

And thank you for the compliment. For some, Star Wars is a film. For me, it's a hobby.

I have another question to determine the believability of my character's age.

What year is it? Or, more accurately, how long as it been since the destruction of the second Death Star? Depending on how long it has been, my character may or may not be as skilled as I'd like him to be.

*double-checks thread* 9 ABY... Bother. I guess I'm going to have to do a fair bit of explaining in my character's bio.

Been thinking of a character, but I have a question. Would he be allowed a ship (a frankenstiened hyper-capable starfighter)?

Athol:

A mish-mashed starfighter is known as an "Ugly".

Okay, so I have a character in mind, but I may need to rewrite her backstory a bit to fit her in. I looked on Wookiepedia, but I can't see when Skywalker opened the Yavin 4 academy (the one in SW: Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy).

EDIT: Thinking about it, I may just need to make a totally new one.

By the way, would you object to a third Force User?

The Jedi Praxeum on Yavin 4 was opened in 11 or 12 ABY, around the time that Admiral Daala escaped from the Maw Research Facility and went on a guerrilla war. However, a number of force sensitives were still in hiding, or hadn't yet developed their latent abilities in life just yet. With this alternate universe cold war keeping the empire and republic's borders stable for the time being, this would give Luke more time to go searching for new Jedi.

Has anyone considered playing as a New Republic or Imperial?

Soviet Heavy:

I'd considered it... but the lure of a well-written Jedi character is a strong one. Perhaps I shall write two characters - one Force-sensitive and one blunt - and see which of the two I prefer.

Okay, thanks. Writing the sheet now.

I apologize if I seem slow, I've had a lot of stuff to do, anyways I'm still accepting profiles and I hope to get this RP on it's feet soon enough.

Interested in this thread, I am. Hopefully soon, a sheet I will post.

*Shoots self in foot* Internet crashed and I lost my character, was just filling out equipment, near done. 2 hours of work gone. *Starts again*.

Finally finished it, took me forever, distractions and.... loss of the whole damn thing, haha.

Sent my character.
But for the hell of it...

What C'ya think?

It seems like there is very little real difference between this and canon. The Empire was still around(you should check out the Thrawn Trilogy) and Luke created a Jedi Order that was better then any other anyway.

Well this one does have a few minor differences such as the Emperor still surviving, there is also the non-canon characters of course.

I plan on it taking a different turn from the EU though, with a pretty big plot twist later on.

Nice, accepted.

We have an awful lot of Neutral characters, right now I'm looking for more pure Imperials or People supporting the Republic

.
You don't see many of those because people like to be flexible and being allied to a faction from the start narrows your possibilities. What about a character that's affiliated with the Hutt cartel? Sounds better.

Thanks for accepting me chief.

From accepted sheets we've 2 onside with the Republic, 4 non-aligned, and 0 Imperials. Though my character likes the Imperials more. We could defiantly use like 2 Imperial supporters.

Kinda surprised no ones wanted to be Sith, power, force lightning, none of that moral questioning to be slowing you down. Good benefits.

How many people are you looking to have for this rp anyways?

Null

If I wanted to be an Imperial officer, how high ranking could I be? I suppose running my own ship might be too overpowered, but then again I did see that you were offering someone else the role of Thrawn, and damn, he ranks pretty high.

I wouldn't mind wreaking havoc at the helm of a Star Destroyer...
