James had heard Lime through the radio, and the gun shots. "Lime! Are you alright?!" he said, but there was no response. They're just busy with the sniper he tried to convince himself. They're not dead, they can't be dead.

Just then James felt a pair of eyes on him. He turned around to find himself looking at a man in blue and black snow gear holding a shotgun. They both stood there for a moment, frozen by shock and fear, before the unknown man turned around and started shouting something in Norwegen. James bounded forward, quickly covering the distance between them, and wrapped his left arm around the mans body while his right shoved James' pistol underneath his jaw causing the man to drop his weapon in shock. 5 other men, similarly dressed and armed, emerged from the falling snow. They all held shotguns, and they where all pointing them at James and his hostage. "Lime." James said into his radio. "Now would be an excellent time for that evac."

"No questions on my part, sir" Til said with a smile. The captain was, despite all of his responsibilities, undemanding. He was polite when giving giving orders, and he understood the crew, an important trait in any leader. Her co-workers for this, she knew less well. There were a few hundred crew members on board, and she had only read up on those who were already scheduled for a series of counselling sessions with her and a few others. Mae was one of those others, having attracted her attention by being one of the fairly few aliens aboard, and Til was aware that she would probably find him agreeable, but the soldier, Brian was a mystery to her. He most likely would have passed by her notice entirely, had she not been given a reason to interact with him. Still, now she did, and she decided that being friendly but businesslike would be the best option to deal with the unknown.

Something quickly passed through Thor's vision. 'What the hell was that'. It took a moment or two for the flier to slow down and rest for him to get a good look at it. "Thats one of Kal.... fuck whats going on. Wheres Kalade, Crossed the bride and it' collapsed. Now".

The flyer couldn't talk but it had basic instructions to follow. Since it had Thor's attention it began flying back to Kalade hoping he'd follow.
It really spooked the man with the gaping hole in his leg.
"What is that?" He said barley holding together? Since Thor was still a little behind the flyer landed and started picking away at the dead flesh around the wound.

"No idea how long the Commander will be with us but I doubt it'll be long" The Captain replied in answer to Brian's question. "Heandshe has a number of other ships under their command and I very much doubt heandshe will be coming along with us."

Lisa interjected from somewhere behind the Captain. "I can confirm from my downloaded news updates that Commander Cerise will be meeting with the S.U. President in three days time, meaning that factoring in transport and preparation time heandshe'll only have a few hours onboard this ship at the most. By the way, Tom asked me to tell you that the Commander is entering into"

"Already?" Captain Vance said with a little exasperation, slapping his palm against his forehead "Guess we've run out of time for instructions, quick get to himandher before some idiot crew member lets out what's happened!"

Thor followed Kalade's flyer hoping to find her. She was nothing but trouble and far short of useful for the mission. Thor only came down cause he knew she'd need as many people as they can expend to guard her, and he likes wearing his armor.
The flyer landed on a Followers leg, a bloody wound full of decay and pus. "Wheres the girl"? Thor's rifle barrel stared into the mans eye.

"Very well then, sir" Til said curtly, turning away with a polite nod and walking slowly away toward the doors. When she reached them, she looked back to her greeting companions and asked "We're only going to be dealing with him for a few hours aren't we? How bad could it be?" she hoped to strike a chord with the soldier, and she knew the phrase had some significance as an idiom in human culture, though she couldn't quite remember what.

Tom's console beeped. On the video screen, the image of Commander Cerise emerged from static. Even by Crelm standards, s/he was a massive specimen, easily dwarfing his/her subordinates visible in the video feed.

"This is Commander Cerise, put me through to Captain Vance." His/her voice held a stern, commanding tone as it resonated through Tom's translator bead. He gulped instinctively. Being put on the spot like this made him nervous.

"Erm, uh, yes, of course, I'll put you through to Captain Vance immediately." he said, sweat pooling on his forehead. How could he stall longer? If Cerise wanted to board the ship, how would the crew explain the missing personnel and vessels? "Umm, one moment. It seems that the ship's onboard AI is glitching out."

"Actually, I am currently running at prime opera-" Lisa's voice was cut off by Tom slamming his elbow into the computer terminal.

"You see? It can't keep processing this amount of data so quickly." he stammered. "New Lallowen technician, she put some crazy stuff into the software."

Cerise gave the closest approximation of a frown a Crelm could make. "Why would the ship's Artificial Intelligence be running at such a high capacity? You haven't launched for your assignment yet. It should be operating at nominal levels."

Tom chuckled nervously. "Aha, yes of course. Well, you see, there was a.... um... ah, a virus! Yes, that's it! The ship has contracted a small virus. Probably one of those Schrier spam messages offering free voyages!"

"You are on the bridge, are you not? Why is Captain Vance not there?" demanded Cerise.

"Er, well, he's waiting for you in the conference room." he mumbled.

"Then why didn't you tell me that before?"

"Because.... because the ship's AI was on the fritz."

"When it is operating at high capacity despite not being required to?"

"Yes."

"And the Captain is in the conference room awaiting my arrival, while you are stalling for something, I assume?"

"Yes. I mean no! No no nonononononono! I'm not stalling! I'm merely relaying information."

There was an awkward pause. Cerise spoke. "Are you even a computer technician? What exactly is your job?"

"Answer to the first, no. Answer to the second, I'm a field operative for the D.C. And a terrible liar, so it seems."

Another silence. "I'm coming aboard the ship. Make sure the Captain knows about it. And before you protest Mr..... Anderson is it? Wait, Thomas Anderson?"

Tom sighed. "Yes, Tom Anderson. The Evil God of Destruction Andursion. Responsible for the peace through superior firepower incident on Lonyx. Anything else you want to ask."

The Crelm elicited an electronic chuckle. "I'm surprised that you weren't fired for that one. It seems that Captain Vance has acquired quite an unusual crew roster. I'll have to make sure to inspect each of you personally. Be ready for my arrival in fifteen minutes."

The link cut out. Oh crap, thought Tom.

Mae bowed respectfully to his Captain before leaving with the others. He listened to Til speak of their new guest and showed his teeth again. It was one of the few perks of being stuck in this suit, as it allowed him to freely emote underneath his mask while keeping his voice free of any malice or other emotion.

He responded in the diplomatic tone he would have to adopt for the next few hours. "Asking what can go wrong only makes the powers at be rush to answer your questions." It took conscious correction not to say "They Who Watch" instead of "the powers at be" but he knew the other crew members did not know of the religions of Meegaz, and felt that it would be best to speak in universal sayings and metaphors.

"Now Til, as the Captain said, we are not able to discuss the cause of the Air leak, or the Mission. So I think it is best if we get our stories straight while we still have time to prepare. Do you not think so?"

James' plea was met only with static. "Damn it." he swore under his breath. Guess I'll have to get myself out of this. The attackers formed a quarter circle around the corner of roof that he occupied. The edge of the roof had no railing, which would make it a wonderful exit point if the closest solid surface wasn't God knows how many stories down. Maybe not James thought, and suddenly he had his plan.

He stood still for a moment, breathing heavily and contemplating how he was going to go about it. Then, suddenly, he spun around, both throwing his hostage off the roof and dropping to one knee as he did so. By the time his 360 was complete, he was on his left knee. He continued his spin, and as each man fell within his sights, the pistol unleashed a blast of energy, all of which struck their targets square in the chest. He managed to kill 3 of the men in this fashion before the other 2 where able to react. James had anticipated this and rolled to his right, directly off the side of the building.

James was able to catch himself with his left hand while his right held on to his weapon, just as he had intended. He immediately began searching for a window, but found none on his level. He then looked below and saw a window with a small ridge just above it on the story below him. Perfect he thought, and holster his gun and dropped. He caught himself on the ridge with both hands. Before he could take out his gun to shoot open the window, the two attackers began shooting downwards towards James. He put as much of his body beneath the ridge as possible, but still felt a few jolts of pain from his back. He jerked in pain from each, but held on. Eventually the shooting ceased as the men above reloaded their guns, and James took this chance to shoot the window open and climb into the building.

Once inside he took a moment to assess his wounds. He stuck a hand beneath his coat and up his back, and it came back soaked in blood. "Oh, fuck" James mumbled in surprise. He needed medical attention before he blacked out from blood loss. But the men with the shotguns still needed to be dealt with. All ready James could hear them thundering down a nearby stairway. James readied his pocket knife and gun and positioned himself just to the right of the doorway to the stairs. When the men came through, single file, James did a 180 towards them, stabbing the front man in the throat. He pointed his pistol over the front mans shoulder and shot the other in the face, reducing it to ash.

James took a shaky breath and stepped away from the carnage. The man he had shot had died instantly, but the stabbed one was still clinging to life. James hunched over him where he now lay on the floor. In the last moments of his life, the mans eyes looked into James' not with hate or even fear, but with a plea for help, a plea that James could do nothing to answer. The man loosed one final, shaky breath, and died.

James looked at the man for a moment longer. He had never had any connection to him, but he was still a human being, just like James himself. He had had hopes, ambitions, memories, dreams that would go unfulfilled. He had had friends, maybe a family. He had cared for people, and people had cared for him.

And now he was dead. Because of what James had done.

When Thor made his way to the far side of the bridge, Lime gave the signal, and heandshe and Muokilaxes opened fire on the sniper. the sniper ducked down behind a ridge of snow. This was all the opportunity that he needed, if they hadn't been fired upon so far, help wasn't coming for this lone sniper. He stuffed the smoke grenade back in it's pouch and drew out one of the stun grenades.

"Lime!" he shouted "Cover me." and rushed towards the bank where the sniper had disapeared. He tossed the grenade over the rise, and slowed for just a moment, allowing the grenade to detonate before him.

Muokilaxes then ran over the hill, and saw the sniper, on his hands and knees, fumbling for a handgun in his vest with the rifle lying forgotten a few yards away. He respected the sniper for that, having the will to live, even when faced with horrible odds.
Not that it stopped him from driving one of his fists into the man's back, just below the shoulderblades, forcing him into the ground. Muokilaxes then grabbed him flipped him over before slamming him down again. After that, the man ceased to attempt to move, and Muokilaxes relieved him of his pistol, retrieved the man's rifle, and dragged the sniper to where Lime waited.
"Now start explaining what's going on before me or the Crelm here get bored and decides to eat you."

A quick flick of the proboscis caused the man to flinch. He even reached for the pistol that wasn't there anymore.
"You're the ones attacking us! This is self-defence. We heard the fighting below and the ship you deliberately crashed into our building. Anyway what business do you have here? This is S.t Kalade's ground it's human land, aliens aren't..." Smart enough not to say not welcome here at least. "Usually seen in these parts."
Lime had a blue glow around himandher.
"Talk, it may just save your life." Lime's proboscis hung low swinging slightly in the air.
"Fine but you leave my family out of this. What can I tell you?"

Oh so that's where he was. He's made it on to an internal balcony, overlooking the main hall (presumably), there was a throng and someone was sitting in it. He's talking to someone who can't quite be made out down below.
"So you come to the freedom Iles, my territory, unarmed and as an alien and expect no punishment? Well maybe you might be able to leave alive. You see the last time the S.U came here they tried to attack us, of course we won but we also got a little something to remember them by."
An ominous grey cylinder was wheeled out. It had several lights on it but most were pretty faded.
"Now it's obviously a weapon, you predecessors told us that, unfortunately they died before they could tell us how to use the thing. We can tell it's powerful, perhaps powerful enough to take out your ship up there. Now I recon if you can get this fixed for us you can leave and we'll say no more about it. And if you don't, well you won't need to worry about leaving at all.
What's that? Defiance? Maybe I've not been persuasive enough. Brans. Persuade her."
A hulking mass of a man wanders towards the hidden figure, brandishing a sledge hammer.
There's a shattering sound and a scream.
"Good you much more compliment."
There was a fluttering sound by a gunshot ended it.

"It's too late she'll be in the main chamber now." The flyer bit down on something and the man screamed. Blood surged to the surface and out of his mouth. No more question then. The flyer was again air born it much already have been full (not too surprising though) it was indicating the way which in this case lead into an ominous but surprisingly unguarded corridor.

"James!" whispered Tom loudly. "James, are you there? Listen, I've been talking to Lisa, we think there might be a way out of there for you guys!"

"That is correct Mr. Anderson." said Lisa smoothly. "Through my integration with your electronic devices, I have been able to calculate several possible escape vessels currently stationed at this settlement. By rewiring your audio visual feeds into one of the vessels, I may be able to override their security firewalls, giving full command of the machine to you or Lieutenant Thor."

Tom was getting jumpy. Cerise would be boarding the ship any minute, and he had to find a way to get the team back on board before his/her inspection was finished. And get them on board without being seen. "I also had another idea, too. I remember there was a mention of two Frostbite Generators in the settlement. Now, I know they're weapons, but the principles they work on could also provide a window to escape the storm. They teleport Nitrogen into other material, expanding and breaking it from the inside. What if we aimed them at the storm clouds. It will be extremely cold, but it will break the cloud cover by dropping the temperature to the point where the storm dissipates!"

Soviet Heavy:
Snip

"While what you say is correct there are a few logistical problems. Part of the reasons they've mostly stopped being used is that they are both largely static and can't really be aimed outside of setting their radius so to hit the clouds you'd have to go through the entire settlement. The generators are extremely large and in this case it seems they've been embedded into the ground, as such we can't really move them to get into the air. I'm sorry but I don't think we can risk turning them on."

avouleance2nd:
Anip

"What if we set them on a timer? It would blow the whole settlement, but if you got onto one of their vessels in time, you could escape the blast radius, and then jump through the opening. The collateral damage would be high, but they opened fire first."

"No" James said into the radio, finally tearing his gaze from the body in front of him. "We can't blow up a whole city. Thor, you're a pretty good pilot, aren't you? Could you manage to fly through the storm?"

TheBlueShotgun0:

"You'll still have to get Lisa to interface with one of their ships. And there's still the video capsule to retrieve. And the storm to fly through. And the fact that I need to find a way to sneak you on board without the Commander noticing."

"Is that all Mr. Anderson?" chimed Lisa.

"I don't know, I'm making it up as I go." he mumbled.

"Alright, I'll see if I can find a ship." James figured establishing an escape route should be a priority. He walked over to the man with the disintegrated face, now slumping against a wall, and took his gun and ammo. It was gunpowder based, an H&T-993 Texan from the look of it. It was heavy but it was a much better weapon then his pistol, especially in these close quarters. The ammo counter said it was full with 7 rounds. James also scavenged about 13 more off of the body, which he stuck in his pocket. "Can you point me in any direction?"

TheBlueShotgun0:

"Lisa tells me that there is an interior hangar built into the rock wall on the north side of the compound. The heat signatures match ship designs, so we should be in luck. Just a precaution though, they probably have a lot of guys with guns in there watching their rides."

Thor ignored James on the comm. "They've taken Kalade, some main chamber". He shouted out. "I'm goin' after her. And I'm gona spill so much blood for this". Thor kicked in the side of the dead mans head in his rage. He came down to protect Kalade, but he failed. But he could still redeem his sense of honor by saving her. Thor barreled down the corridor, Kalade's flyer barely keeping ahead of him. He kept shouting profanities and incoherencies. He just needed to save her before The Followers Killed her.

Upon pondering for a short while and for seemingly no apparent reason, Brian looked at the Astrid and could almost sense the 'friendliness' she was trying to convey. When he signed up for an extended service with the Diplomatic Corps he had hoped his contact with Aliens would be mostly minimal, that's why he worked as a Reconnaissance Specialist.

Still, the fact was that he was part of a large crew and he would no be able to avoid contact, and breaking ice was the least he could do.

"I don't think any of us will be able to tell how bad it's going to be until the Commander catches on to what we're doing." He was being negative. Not the right way to 'break ice'. "Although we should be able to sugar coat everything long enough if we're careful." He stammered. No realising that he did so.

James rolled his eyes. "Well, fine. I'll go alone then."Hoping that his haste wouldn't get him killed, James set off down the stairs.

He walked for what felt like hours down the stairs and, when the stairs ended, he spent just as much time wandering the halls in search of a flight of stairs that would bring him to the lower levels. The bleeding on his back had ceased, but he could still feel a few lead pelets buried in his musle tissue, which caused him a great deal of discomfort. The gun he caried did little to alleviate it, but James knew that if he came under attack, he couldn't afford the extra seconds that it would take to ready the gun. And so he treked down the maze of hallways, wincing every few seconds from the spikes of pain that acompanied every step.

It was while walking in this fashion that James heard the scream. It was distorted by distence and echos of itself, but James knew that voice.

It was Kalade.

James started sprinting down the hall towards where he thought the scream had originated. He emerged into a room, it's impressive size only magnified by James' acoustomation to the close and narrow halls. There lay Kalade on the floor beneath the balcony, the large man standing above her crumped body. Kalade was alive, he could tell that much, but she was clearly injured. "Get away from her!" James shouted as he raised his shotgun and aimed it at Kalades attacker.

TheBlueShotgun0:

The man was startled turning to see the shot gun in his face.
"Now come on? One man?" The King was laughing slightly. "Men."
Maybe 10 of them pointed their guns at James.
"You clearly care about it, and attacking us would be bad for its health." He was lording it over James (the bastard).
Kalade tried to get up. One of her horns was smashed a few shards of it were still on the floor. She was able to make her way over the unit. She had an idea it might just save James and she'd have to try.
"Wait he's my assistant, if you want me to get this working I'll need him."
The King probably wasn't happy about this but he was able to turn it into spite and sarcasm. "Really. Looks like your alive after all. All you have to do is hand over your gun."
The one that had the hammer (he had a name but it's been forgotten) was soon holding out his hand to take James' gun.

Outside with the sniper
"Your family won't be harmed providing you comply." Lime's translator had been set to good cop so it came out pretty comforting.
"You won't be able to overwhelm us but our king might be receptive to talk. You spared my family, if you're willing to do the same to all of us you might just be let go. I can get you in. I know the password. Just promise you won't hurt me."

Now, James was all about adversity in the face of defeat and honor and all that, but he was also a fan of living. Thus he reluctantly handed over his gun and went to knell next to Kalade. "Are you aright?" He asked.

"A little sore but I'll live." She said, but to James she looked more than "a little sore." He turned to the devise.

"What is this thing?"

Gunfire and screams echoed through the Follower Kings halls. His men were being slaughtered by Thor's rampage. Everyone was being unnerved by the screams of the dying and now dead. "Kalade, I'm coming for you, where are you"! The echo of his call was drowned out by more gunfire.

Kalade spoke under her breath.
"Probably not the best thing to ask. You're supposed to be an expert after all.
Anyway they think it's an S.U weapon. Its S.U certainly the code is there standard and I recognise some of the instructions. But it doesn't really feel right, something about it just doesn't check out. It's able to send and receive signals according to the code so at a guess I'd say this is just a control device for the main weapon.
"
She spoke up.
"So professor you think we can sort this out? Wait didn't we have just the thing back at the ship?"

avouleance2nd:

James thought he understood what she was trying to do. "Yes mam, I believe we did." He turned to face the man on the balcony. "You'll have to excuse us, we didn't come down here expecting to fix anything this complex."

The king wasn't impressed.
"Now come on? You could have done better than that, Anyway I've already sent men to take your ship. Can't have you escaping after all. Your to tell my men what you need and they'll look for it, but you don't leave my sight. So what are you looking for?"

Lime had agreed to the terms no one need be harmed and heandshe'd respect the men for surrendering. They were now in the hall, the crew lined up on one side with the king and his men on the other and Kalade and James in the middle.
Lime strode forward.
"Now we talk!"

Thor knelt behind a corner. He could hear a large group of people traveling down his way and..... Limes voice. 'What are we talking about Lime". Thor had his blaster pistol raised. He'd run out of bullets for his rifle in the fights up to where'd he'd gotten to. And Kalade was with them. "Kalade. Finally, what did these motherless scum do to you"? He could see in the dim light one of her horns were broken.

Tom was running out of time. The Commander would be aboard any minute, and he'd have to leave the bridge. Lisa was running dozens of scans per second, trying to find the quickest route to the Follower's hangar. Layer upon layer of map sections and architectural designs skimmed past on the screen as Lisa systematically broke down the entire structure of the Follower's settlement. Staring absentmindedly at the screen, a layout of the ventilation system floated by. Maybe they could use the air vents... no, no that would be ridiculous. Stuff like that happened in stories with inordinately large shafts, not the modern micro-scaled units used now.

"Lisa, where are they now?" moaned Tom. It was hard to believe things had become as bad as they were in less than an hour. What a great way to kick off a New Year, he thought bitterly. Tom wondered if it was customary for Earthborns to celebrate with explosions and drunken violence.

"The away team is currently One Hundred Thirty Two meters away from the nearest evacuation shuttle. They appear to be in a central atrium area. Heat signatures indicate that the inhabitants have encountered the away team. I am currently performing electronic diagnostics on the unidentified members. Operative Thor is in a viable position for an ambush. I recommend relaying this message through to Operative Bergmann as well."

Tom flipped the comm switch. "You hear that, you two? Thor, get into position. James, keep an eye out for Thor's signal. Muokilaxes can take most of the heat, and then get the hell out of there. Follow these floor plans, and they should take you out towards the Hangar."

While Tom was occupied on the bridge, Commander Cerise had come aboard. Drawing the Star Brigade into one of the Alsvior's massive docking rings, an umbilical attachment connected the small courier to the gigantic warship.

Commander Cerise was a Crelm, and unusual for his/her species, she had a tendency to veer towards the female side of her hermaphroditic nature. On starships like these, she like the rest of her species had to wear specialized pressure suits in order to survive the dryer atmosphere. On the Star Brigade, Cerise was met by an entourage of crew members, who bowed in respect for the Commander.

She was the head of the Solanic Union's Diplomatic Corps, and she answered to the highest authority in the society. Her appearance on the ship was important, to say the least. She turned to a crew member standing rapt. "Ensign, show me to the conference chamber. I wish to speak with Captain Vance immediately."

"Yes ma'am, right this way." said the crew member smartly, setting off down the corridor. Good, thought Cerise. At least some of Captain Vance's men followed protocol. The group arrived at the conference chamber, where Captain Vance awaited with a number of humans and "aliens."

"Captain, explain this to me: why is Thomas Anderson part of your crew? You do realize his record is questionable at best, don't you?"

"Roger that." James whispered back to Tom. "Get ready to move." he told Kalade in an equally low voice. She mumbled an "OK" as James followed his own advise. He began to discretely look out for Thor's signal. Whatever he was going to do, James wished he would do it fast.

The Captain stared straight back at Commander Cerise, his eyes unblinking and his face devoid of emotion.

"Questionable yes ma'am but he's got good results in the past. This isn't a trade deal or palm-greasing we're walking into here, it's a potential war between species who for the large part aren't overly concerned about the S.U. We can't do this with diplomats who'll just phone it in. I also seem to recall that you reviewed all of my choices, didn't you?"

The Crelm grunted in response to this question.

"Are you going show me round then?" she asked briskly.

"Eh... well about that ma'am. You remember the leak report I sent an hour ago? Well we're still looking into now and it's a developing situation so I appointed these three corps to give you the tour while I continue with my work." Captain Vance gestuered to Mae, Til and Brian standing to his left. "Okay?"

"I suppose Captain, you better have this under control," she huffed and left the room accompanied by the three corps. The Captain audibly let out a sigh once the Crelm was out of earshot and then checked the new message on his PDA which had been quietly bleeping for the last minute.

Captain,

Please come down to the infirmary ASAP, urgent new findings on saboteur to discuss and other important updates too. Sad to report one fatality from the leak, Diplomatic Corp Kroaansokun-Thea, a Schrier involved in the SU/Tomahna Contact Program.

Dr Harris

"Come on, come on, hurry up and get out of there!" muttered Tom, constantly checking on the monitor while he barricaded the bridge. With Lisa automating the controls in Thor's absence, the bridge was empty, save for Tom. He was currently trying to jam the doors so that Commander Cerise couldn't get through. Lisa popped up on the monitor again.

"Mr. Anderson, if I might-"

"Not now, Lisa! I've got to find something to seal the door with.... wait, how will that work? The doors slide into the wall!"

"I am merely suggesting-"

"Shut it, Lisa, I'm thinking! Hmm, maybe welding... now where the hell will I find an arc welder right now?"

"Look, all I'm saying is-"

"All I'm saying is be quiet! Hmm, what about blocking it with furniture? No, every damn thing is bolted down in here! What am I going to do?"

Lisa sighed, and her holographic image snapped its fingers. The access hatch to the bridge sealed shut, and the emergency bulkheads slammed into their joints, completely barricading the bridge. Tom jumped at the sudden sound, and turned to look at Lisa. "What, what did you just do?"

"If you had cared to listen, Mr. Anderson, I have complete control over the Star Brigade's security systems. If you so wish, I can seal off any part of the ship at will."

Tom frowned. "Wait, that sounds kind of dangerous. Wouldn't you need a voice code to activate something like that?"

Lisa flashed an ingratiating smile. "Yes, only Captain Vance can authorize such a procedure. I merely offered the option to you as a courtesy. Please continue running around panicking, if you so choose. Or you may go back to monitoring the away team, now that you have no need to worry about Commander Cerise interrogating you."

Tom huffed, and muttered under his breath. "Little smartass, so damn patronizing. I can see why Demexin doesn't like her."

"You do know I can still hear you, Mr. Anderson. And I relayed that last message to engineering."

"Oh you son of a bitch!"
