Halo Infinite Loses Director Chris Lee

Halo Infinite is losing another key member in Director and 343 Industries Partner Studio Head Chris Lee. Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier reported the news that Lee was stepping down from the project today. This announcement follows the Xbox Series X | S launch title’s recent delay and the loss of another director last year.

As quoted by Bloomberg, Lee stated the following: “I have stepped back from Infinite and I am looking at future opportunities. I believe in the team and am confident they will deliver a great game and now is a good time for me to step away.”

Halo Infinite was shown off earlier this year but saw a delay shortly after and is now planned to launch sometime in 2021. Meanwhile, Xbox Series X and S are still planned to launch next month, Nov. 10.

Microsoft also provided a statement on Lee’s departure, clarifying his continued employee status: “Chris Lee remains a Microsoft employee and while he has stepped back from Halo: Infinite right now, we appreciate all he has done for the project to date.”

Most recently, Halo Infinite gained Joseph Staten and Pierre Hintze in August, but these additions came as only the latest shake-ups. In October of last year, 343 lost its lead producer, Mary Olson, with Creative Director Tim Longo leaving only a few months before that.
