Adrien cracks a smile. "No. But the damage is done. I have defeated you once, and I will defeat you again and again until this realm becomes dust." Adrien draws his sword from the ground. "I told you we would give them a real show. So then..." Adrien's body surges with dark energy, healing his broken body once more. "To the death?"
"Oh look, he has a few tricks left after all." Tradx makes a loud and obnoxious sigh, eyeing Karutomaru and laughing. "You hired the most uninteresting lap dogs I have ever seen."
(Karutomaru isn't there.) "Fine then. Kill me."
"Not without a fight. This is a battle, not an execution."
"What do you expect me to do then?"
"Fight me or leave. Your choice." ((captcha: heated debate))
"You expect to fight on equal terms while I'm bound?"
"Pfft, what a sore loser." Tradx jeers. "Were I you, I would probably keep fighting, Karu does not seem like the most forgiving guy ever."
"Probably, but I think I can handle it. It wouldn't hurt to go all-out though."
"Come. Test yourself." The bonds break. Adrien grasps the hilt of his sword.
"Alright then..." "Try dodging THIS!"
Adrien draws his sword fast as lightning. He slashes at Bui's attack, deflecting it skyward. It smashes into the skybox, bringing part of it down into the arena. Adrien observes the surface of his sword. The steel blade has been charred. Small cracks run from the point of impact, sparking with Bui's energy. "My turn." He raises his blade and slashes downward, sending a wave at Bui that cuts through the air.
(Skybox? What?) The blade deflects the blow into the air, but the cross comes back down on Adrien's location. Bui floats to the side and avoids the cut.
"We will see about that." Adrien breaks into a sprint, leading the cross away.
Bui cuts Adrien off and holds his hands out.
As a matter of fact... Adrien slides behind Bui.
The blast connects with Bui and explodes in a light show of green lightning and smoke.
"I figured as much." Adrien brushes the dust off his armor. "Tell me. If you are as powerful as you believe, what incentive do you have to fight in this competition?"
"I was told the competition here would be worthy of my strength. It's unfortunate I was matched with such a dishonorable opponent."
Adrien cracks up laughing. "There is no honor in battle! I had to learn that the hard way!"
"I can attest to that." | |
"That belief is why you don't deserve mercy."
"That belief is why you will die today."
"We'll see about that." Another axe materializes in his hand. This one, though large, is significantly smaller.
"I must admit, it is certainly a step up."
"And that's not all." | |
What? Adrien strikes the edge of the ax with his shield, attempting to parry it away.
The shield sparks when the axe slams against it and deflects away from Adrien. The relief of the moment is squandered when the axe circles back around. Bui crosses his arms and watches the axe move on its own.
"Bollocks!" | |
The spinning axe turns into red lightning and returns to Bui's hand. Bui throws the axe into the ground. A spirit emerges and materializes from it.
"Two on one? I have faced worse odds."
"Get his left!" | |
Adrien curses under his breath. He was hoping he would not have to use the aforementioned hand cannon which has been referenced several times up until this point. He reaches behind him and pulls out the three-barreled monstrosity. Kneeling on his right leg, he holds out his left arm horizontally and lines up the golem along the center of his arm. He charges his right hand with spirit energy and taps the cannon's percussion cap against his arm. The powder ignites, firing an energy charged .69 caliber bullet into the golem's belly.
The guardian is shot and shatters like glass. Gravity returns to normal, but Bui's axe is at the ready a few feet behind Adrien. Bui wields it one-handed with almost no effort.

Bui's body bursts with more green battle aura, though not nearly as much as before. He raises his head and blankly stares at Adrien.
"You can never have the last of something self-replenishing. If it were that easy, I wouldn't need to wear my armor."
