The EUSA, Kentucky, Henderson, 2082. You had been sent to break up the strikes in one of the largest mining facility in all of Kentucky and arrest the leaders of the protests. As Pinkerton Private Security agents you are tasked with infiltrating the facility, finding the leaders of the uprising and quelling it as efficiently as possible.
Welcome to the future. The EUSA is the name of the territories east of the Rockies that had seceded from the union in 2034. The Eastern United States of America. The country is run by the government and large companies that provide the citizens with employment and all they need. They give them special stamps they can use in renting company owned houses, eating from company owned shops and buying in company owned retails, all with the easy payment of those special stamps. This unfortunate situation became widespread around the world and now became the appropriate norm for most of the American, European and Asian continent.
This created debt slavery. You are constantly short on stamps and the prices fluctuate depending on the average earning of the community you live in. In a manner of speaking, you owe your soul to the company store. Even working as a government official you were paid in the stamps of the company that had the most branches near your residence.
You, a veteran of police enforcement were hired by one of the private companies calling themselves 'Pinkerton Private Security'. It had struck a deal with most of the large companies and corporations to pursue their interests as instructed and will most often than not break the law without the government even glancing at the case.
You had all come from a past of law enforcement, federal or state authorities. Hopefully you can see things through and stop this liberal nonsense before it spreads to other sites. We need to mine that coal! .

. If I see little to no interest I will put this aside. Otherwise I am glad to run this with the help of one or two of you, depending on how many character we will muster.
Diablo1099: Mmmm... Tickle me Interested, just can we Choose to play a character that is into this "liberal nonsense"?
Sheet up soon.
Edit: Also, By Gauss Rifles, you mean that awesome DLC gun from Fallout 3 right?
. You can have liberal ideas, but bear in mind your history - Would you have joined such a company that oppresses workers' unions even before they are conceived if you were a liberal? Think about it and remember that everyone has a debt in the company store. . A Gauss rifle, in theory, is a cord of metal wrapped around like a spring and connected to a power source. It is situated in such a position (won't explain physics here) that accelerates the metallic material (That can magnetize - Iron, Chrome and Nickel) within it. It's a new propulsion system which substitutes gunpowder. However it is bulky and large and very hard to handle. It can only shoot once before you have to reload and has a very powerful recoil and stopping power. You'll be working with firearms mostly (at this assigmnet at least), unless you find illegal magnetic propulsion weapons.
Oooh, government sponsored villainy. Color me interested.
Out of interest, what is the social climate like? Is there widespread racism or homophobia? Are women on an equal footing, or have their rights regressed? What is the religious demographic of the Eusa? (Is there government sponsored flavor religion) Are people encouraged to hate each other, or is it more that everyone is equally downtrodden, and all are worthless regardless of gender, color or creed?
ThreeWords: Oooh, government sponsored villainy. Color me interested.

. Alright, It's time for me to set the stage for this RP! ...Later. Give me a few hours and I'll draft up the basics. It's oprresion all the way and you have the church plotting together with the EUSA government and the major corporations. To crack up the zealot number, there is also a newly formed religion, think of the Druz, and they are about to close their gates to enter the religion. They're extra preachy and violent this decade, so look out. If you can think of a good name toss it in, otherwise I will do it in a few hours.

. . There is an oppressed minority. Firstly, liberal views and ideas aren't tolerated. Which means that any socialists and communists are tagged and disposed of. Organizations that have the same agenda are illegal. Charities are illegal since the money can't be taxed. Drugs are trafficked by the government and distributed by the companies, but only certain company made drugs are allowed. These drugs increase productivity relatively, have short lived side effects, are hard to over dose and aren't highly addictive. Recreational drugs, but they cause you to be on energetic. Since most people work 14-12 hours a day, some people have a need for these drugs to keep themselves going. . There is a day of rest, Tuesday, when everyone is supposed to attend church. Those who don't attend church and found in their homes are fined. You don't have to be in a specific church, but this isn't a day of worship for any of the religions but this one. Like being Catholic in Protestant England in the 1700s, you get fined for not being a part of the state religion. . Work - You work 12-14 hours a day. These people are the working class. They live in very poor lifestyle and are constantly in debt. They borrow more to pay up their loans and even though they keep on working for days they can never leave their debt. Some jobs you work 10 hours a day. These are considered comfortable and you can life in a decent lifestyle - but you have a decent sized debt. This is what you call middle class. These jobs don't produce much and are mostly centered around giving people different services. Doctors are the most prestigious of the lot here, while the lower ones are high leveled clerks and salespeople. The best jobs are 7 hours a day. Here are high ranking engineers, doctors and company men. There aren't any private people with their own businesses or land. If you're a farmer then you work as much as you need to make the quota set for you, or if you work for security companies like us you simply do as you're told. . Here capitalism is encouraged, but you need a permit to hold land and a different one to exchange money. And these permits are very, very expensive. Very few people managed to climb the ranks, usually these are doctors or engineers that worked on a large project and got enough money to start their own practice or business. Owning a business is dangerous. The companies that are native to the EUSA will destroy you financially if you begin to meddle in their business and take away their money, but if you hire enough money and get enough power in the government you can become one of the big boys. Only a few local companies managed to do that after the civil war.
What sort of weapons would we be using as sidearms? Would we use weapons we already have, or more advanced ones?
. The problem here is that magnetic weaponry are large and clunky and haven't been reduced yet to a concealed weapon - but it's 70 years in the future. You can have futuristic handguns but it's basically just plastic covered, few metal parts, fully auto, 13 bullet clips (Or 7, 11, 17, 20 - depending on caliber) - I suppose you can have a revolver, but that's rather old school.

. It seems alright though it's a skeleton... Needs more meat on it. Nevertheless it's a good start. If you want to add anything to the bio be my guest, and hopefully you won't be the first guy to turn on your employers the moment your conscience tickles. Advice is welcome. If the social situation makes this un-viable, let me know =)
How is racism, homophobia, and misogyny going? What's the standard of living like?
. The state suppresses all of the civil rights movements. It assumes that all men and women are to be treated fairly, but it all falls to the employers and people. It publicly suppresses anti-religion movements, claiming that these men and women have no morals and have to be expunged from society - either shown the true light of god or expelled from our dear nation. It is uncommon to see women in certain roles and men likewise, but there is no real limitation here.
Discrimination towards blacks in the southern states is commonplace, while orientals aren't very welcome in the northern parts of the EUSA. Women are usually treated worse than men but such a thing is commonplace. You rarely see women in the military because they have to meet the same standards as men do, which require large muscle mass and determination.
Homophobia - Being Gay isn't accepted at all. You won't be killed for it or banished, but if you're openly gay people will look the other way and treat you badly. The state doesn't officially condones Homosexuality, but it teaches that such acts are immoral and will be the ultimate downfall of man. Devote religious people will try to hurt you or show you the way, while some other nationalists that believe in what the government dictates will treat you like trash.
Standard of Living is pretty low. Think industrial London in the 1700s. Fires are common, poor sanitation and public services, bad roads and such. Everything maintained by the government (And rented by the corporations - the housing) is in poor shape. On the other hand everything else owned by the corporations is (usually) much better, cleaner, maintained and costly. Toll roads, private security firms and fire protection, private sanitation services, etc. Few live well within their means. Most borrow and go into debt they can never escape. They owe their soul to the company store.

Advice is welcome. If the social situation makes this un-viable, let me know =)
Also, do the players know each other beforehand?
. You would have probably worked together in the past, but you might not know some of them. Pinkerton isn't that large of a security company, so you might have encountered them at some point. (There are approx. 420 agents). About the bio - The beginning looks fine though you should polish it off a bit more. I'm confused as to how you became an agent. Usually you'd need experience in law-keeping or the military, rarely do they recruit from the ranks of mere citizens that have no background or training. Training takes time and costs money, it's best to recruit already suited candidates for the job.

I was thinking that Alice would sleep with agent because she needed some kind of support, and his life was relatively good. Over time, she gains a little insight into his work, perhaps acting as part of his under-cover 'disguise' etc, and by salvaging a failed mission she would distinguish herself enough to accepted by the company.
However, I get the sense the the Pinkertons are quite military. I had assumed that Alice could function under covert subversion and so forth, but if I need to play a soldier I may start anew.

. It's mostly detective work or detection. Finding a runaway prisoner, making a private investigation or infiltrating other companies or crime organizations. Not military, in fact a military mentality is not wanted here, but she would still need to distinguish herself somehow. If you try and explain how she got out of that sticky situation and what entailed it then I'll be glad to approve.
Okay... this is just a rough draft... err, still not sure about St. Louis (google maps sucks when it comes to this sorta thing), hopefully this will be adequate.

Sixteen Tons
