As Everett climbed up the cliff face, he could see that both Murphy and Sarah had reached the top. He too soon reached the summit for their ascent, thanks to a last minute hand from Sarah. Whilst the others were preparing for the climb down, Everett unhooked his sniper rifle from off his back, and looked through the scope onto the colony below; despite the light fog that was covering the area, Everett was able to get a clear enough image of where they were going to be abseiling down to.

"It looks like for the moment, our descent may go undetected, but we should keep a eye out just in case any of their patrols pass on by where we are going to be landing." Everett reported to the other members of his team as he continued to look through his sniper scope, which was now passing over the anti-air weaponry.

"Yeah, taking out for those anti-air defence systems will take some of the heat off of our other landing teams, though no doubt the enemy will have a stronger presence there." Out of the corner of his scope, he could see an orange glow off in the distance, refocusing his sights, it looked like some sort of fire.

"Strange, looks like there is a fire burning off in the distance, we should probably check it out, but I doubt as though we'll have time to investigate." Everett then concluded as he stowed away his sniper rifle. He then turned to face Sarah and Murphy.

"You guys need any help there, or should I just stay on watch?"

"Strange, looks like there is a fire burning off in the distance, we should probably check it out, but I doubt as though we'll have time to investigate."

Murphy looked at Everett, slightly puzzled.

"It's a goddamn warzone. Of course there's a fire."

The sun had just set, and darkness was falling quickly. Murphy strapped in, face-first down the cliff, weapon pointed down at any targets that would appear below the mist.

"You guys need any help there, or should I just stay on watch?"

"Strap in. It's about to get loud."

JASTIS-015

"Murphy, what do you wish for us to do? Support or begin taking down our nearest AA gun?" Jastis called out to the marine over the secure COM channel.

Murphy keyed his radio,

"Romeo one, Blue two. We could use some sniper support as we do this, if you please. Over."

Sarah was already well on her way down before Murphy strapped in, opting to take point and cover the decent if need be.when she hit ground she secured the landing zone

Sarah hit the ground first and began engaging instantly. Murphy started firing before hit feet hit the ground, rounds spinning out of his weapon and into targets as fast as he could pull the trigger. As he hit the ground a grenade blew on the other side of the courtyard. Everywhere there was gunfire, and it was coming from all directions, drowning out all other noise.

They were open and exposed, so Murphy unhooked as fast as he could and started sprinting towards what looked like a fountain on the far right side of the courtyard. As he ran a round hit him square in the chest plate, knocking him on his ass.

"Fuck!" Murphy yelled in pain as he hit the ground. Pointing his weapon between his legs Murphy double-tapped the shooter who hit him in the forehead.

Scrambling to his feet, Murphy took off once more to the fountain, silently thanking the UNSC and God for body armor. As he hit the fountain, he also found that it was full of water. Angry, and now soaked, Murphy popped up and waved to Sarah and Everett to join him in cover.

Sarah was engaged by a hostile shortly after she set foot on the ground, from there the rest of that patrol backed up the fist man, one knocked Murphy on his ass with around and was promptly gunned down by Murphy himself. Sarah dropped an enemy about the same time while suppressing another so she could check on Murphy "You ok?"

Everett was almost at the bottom of the cliff when he saw Murphy get knocked to he floor by a well placed shot, but this caused him to quicken his pace. He could immediately see the fountain that Murphy and Sarah were heading to; and uncoupling his SMG, Everett began burst firing to try and force the enemy into cover. Whether it was by good luck or judgement in his positioning, one of the shots had managed to down an enemy in the head. Soon enough he reached the fountain, but stayed out side of it in a spot where he would less likely be seen.

"You alright Murphy, that shot looked like it took the wind out of your sails. I hope your not bleeding." Everett said, showing concern for his fellow squad mate as he continued to provide covering fire for the team, having to change magazines at one point. He looked around at his surroundings, and noticed what looked like a nearby empty watch tower, but the distance between him and it would put him into the enemies firing line. Weapons fire from many directions drowned out a lot of noise.

"Listen, I know this may seem like a stupid idea, but if you two could provide covering or suppression fire, I can try and make it to that watch tower. It would be an almost perfect spot for me to set up and give you guys some sniper support. With any luck, we can get them on two sides, and even the numbers out."

"You alright Murphy, that shot looked like it took the wind out of your sails. I hope your not bleeding."

"I'm good" Murphy yelled between shots. "Thanking the sweet Baby Jesus for body armor." He changed his mag, the intensity of the incoming fire was increasing. "It didn't penetrate, so I'm okay. Maybe a cracked rib."

A shot bounced off the stone wall behind them and clipped Murphy in the shoulder, causing his to duck and leaving a small tear in his rig.

"Fucking hell!" He yelled at no one in particular. "Where the fuck is Red team?"

"I can try and make it to that watch tower."

Murphy didn't even let Everett finish talking.

"Get your ass over there, I'll draw fire."

Murphy scanned the courtyard for a place to run. About ten meters ahead there was an urn that housed a plant, which meant it had dirt - a great bullet stopper. He jumped over the wall and stood tall, firing at the OPFOR surrounding them.

"GO GO GO" Murphy screamed over the din.

As the incoming fire started to zero in on Murphy, he started to move slowly towards the urn. Sarah was keeping them at bay, but quickly they zeroed in and Murphy sprinted to the urn ducking behind it as rounds zipped his head.

He keyed his radio, still breathing heavily.

"Ev, you still alive buddy?"

"I'm good." Murphy yelled between shots. "Thanking the sweet Baby Jesus for body armour." He soon had to change his magazine though, which couldn't of come at a worse time, as the intensity of the weapons fire was increasing. "It didn't penetrate, so I'm okay. Maybe a cracked rib." It was at that moment that another shot clipped Murphy in the shoulder, causing him to duck.

"Fucking hell!" Murphy then yelled out to no one in particular. "Where the fuck is Red team?" But before Everett could respond, Murphy called out to him.

"Get your ass over there, I'll draw fire." Murphy then appeared to look at another location to fire from.

"GO GO GO!" Murphy screamed over the din, before making his way to what looked like some kind of vase. Everett began to run towards the watch tower, scatter firing his SMG to try and hold back the enemy. Several shots flew past his head and shoulders, one even managed to nearly cause him to stumble, but he managed to reach the tower, and more importantly, cover. Murphy soon keyed in over the radio again, his breathing heavy.

"Ev, you still alive buddy?" He asked, Everett's own breathing was heave as well.

"Yeah, still alive Murphy. A few shots flew past, but apart from a few scratches on the armour's paint job, and a brief stumble, I'm alright. The boys back home certainly knew how to make this armour resilient." Everett remarked as he climbed up to the tower, stowing away his SMG. Reaching the top, he immediately uncoupled his sniper rifle, and set it into firing mode, scanning the targets that his scope could see.

"Right then, let us hit them where it hurts." Everett said over the radio as he began to fire.

JASTIS-015

Quickly he pulled out his sniper rifle, the System 99-Series 5 Anti-Matériel, and began to suppress those nearing Blue-team. After a couple of rounds, as Blue moved, Jastis got to a better and higher position to get a better view of the situation. With Mee he reached a tall tower in the town that was in its outskirts. Busting down the door and rushing in them killed the enemy soldiers in side and reached the top.

At the top Jastis got into position and continued to rain down suppressive fire.

"Yeah, still alive Murphy. A few shots flew past, but apart from a few scratches on the armour's paint job, and a brief stumble, I'm alright. The boys back home certainly knew how to make this armour resilient."

Murphy saw flashes of light coming from the tower and knew that Everett had made it.

Quickly after that Murphy saw the trail from Jastis' rifle streak above his head. With two snipers in position the OPFOR was going down fast.

"Blue one, Blue two." he said, keying his mic. "The door is on the far side of the courtyard to your twelve o'clock. Give me some cover and I'll get there and set charges. Over."

Sarah stayed Murphy to cover him, taking shots at any one stupid enough to give her a shot at them.

Murphy ran full-tilt across the courtyard, sliding to a halt by the door.

"Sarah, Murphy. I'm set for your cross, over." He said over the radio.

As Sarah and Luna crossed the courtyard, Murphy kept suppressive fire on the OPFOR who were left.

"Breaching charges are in the left pouch." He told Sarah, motioning to his pack.

Finally, after far to long bouncing around in a warthog, waiting for landing, Quintus felt a final jolt as Green team touched down.

Opening communications with the teams already on the ground, he announced "Red, Blue, this is Green team, standing by. Give the word and we'll start moving in."

Sarah pulled some breaching charges out of the pouch and set them up on the door, a stray round bouncing of her armor "Ready? Breach in three" she said as she put her hand on Murphy's shoulder got ready to breach the building

Time seemed to slow as Sarah blew the door. A moment passed, then rote memory set in. First through the door, boot on the corner, break left, engage targets. Sarah's rounds flew past his head as she entered and broke right. Seconds after the door blew, all hostiles were down with rounds either center mass or headshot.

"Sarah, I'm going to post up. See if our rebel leader is in these guys." Murphy posted himself slightly back from the door and back at angle, ready to take down any threat that entered. He knelt, and as he did so his kneepad rested in a pool of blood from one of the rebel soldiers.

"Everett, Murphy" He said, keying his radio, "You going to come join us, or are you having too much fun?"

Sarah put a couple round into the face of a hostile as soon as she started into the door, then broke right. "Clear" she said as the last hostile fell.

"Sarah, I'm going to post up. See if our rebel leader is in these guys." Murphy said as he took a knee into a pool of blood coming from an enemy.

Sarah nodded and took a knee in a dark corner "Romeo Actual, this is Blue Actual, any sign of the targets?"

With the addition of Jastis as an extra sniper, the enemy combatants were going down at a fair pace. Everett had to fall into cover a few times when he narrowly avoided shot to the head; which given that he was a sharpshooter was a key area to aim for. Eventually a message came in over the radio, it was from Murphy.

"You going to come join us, or are you having too much fun?" He asked.

"Could say I am having fun Murphy; but I should be joining you in a few moments." Everett replied back as he reloaded a fresh magazine into his rifle, something he managed speed up on since he first entered the Marines. His fumbling in the early days nearly costed him his life a few times, but he made up for it with highly accurate shooting. Soon the area was relatively clear, what few members of the opposing force had gone; Everett then keyed in his radio to contact Jastis.

"Sir, I'm going to link up with the rest of Blue Team now." He said as he climbed down to a lower roof, and activated his camouflage, blending in with the surroundings almost instantly and began the short run to Sarah and Murphy. As Everett neared them, he could see a small group of about three enemy soldiers moving in on the others from a side alley. With them coming from the opposite direction, both Sarah and Murphy could be flanked.

Switching out his rifle for one of his combat knives and his pistol, Everett leaped from the roof as his active camouflage began to deactivate, and came crashing down onto the enemy; killing one with his knife and knocking another back. The third turned around and began to aim his weapon at Everett whilst the second tried to engage him in melee. They each traded blows for a few moments, both getting one or two good strikes, causing Everett to almost stumble over. It was then that he saw the third about to fire, he grabbed his melee opponent and used them as a shield, taking the kill shot in his place. Everett then threw the body at the other enemy, and with this momentary distraction, killed the enemy with his pistol.

After regaining his balance due to a mixture of the jump and several punches to the body, Everett made his way to both Sarah and Murphy, seeing the busted up door on his way in.

JASTIS-015

Jastis continued to fire but opened up the COMs again to speak with Murphy, "Should we come down and support you on ground level?"

As Everett walked through the door Murphy turned.

"What the fuck man? You get into a fight with a grizzly bear?" He said, laughing.

Murphy stood and started kicking over the bodies, looking for the rebel leader.

"He's not in this bunch. This is gonna be a fucking pain in the ass, isn't it?"

"Should we come down and support you on ground level?" Jastis' voice crackled over the comm.

"Negative Romeo Actual. Request you continue sniper support, and attempt to locate houseguest. Please also asses the OPFOR strength on the AA batteries. Over."

Murphy got into position by the door.

"Let's find this fucker."

"What the fuck man? You get into a fight with a grizzly bear?" Murphy asked as he turned to meet Everett, then laughed. Everett cocked a smile at the comment, finding a bit of the humour in it.

"Something like that Murphy. As I was heading towards you and Sarah's position, a squad of three came out from a side alley, and from the looks of how they was moving, they set to corner you. So with a knife in one hand and a pistol in the other, I leapt from the rooftops to engage them. I tell you, one of them had a good right hook." As Everett spoke, Murphy was busy kicking over the bodies, trying to see if the rebel leader was amongst them.

"He's not in this bunch. This is gonna be a fucking pain in the ass, isn't it?" He said to no one in particular.

"We knew this mission was never going to be easy from its point of conception; otherwise, where would be the fun in it?" Everett asked rhetorically with a smirk as he looked over a few of the bodies, trying to see if there was anything useful amongst the refuse.

"When this is over, we should probably see if we can't utilize this universe's weapons and armour for ourselves, try and find ways to better prepare for it in any future endeavours, since we're going to be here for the long haul." He then remarked as he stood up, stretching his arms to get some of the pain out of them from the scuffle outside.

"Let's find this fucker." Murphy said as he got into position by the door. Everett unholstered his M7S Submachine Gun and joined him.

"Too right, that and neutralize the AA weapons, we may need additional fire support."

The squeeze came quickly, as before. Through the door, they found themselves in long hallway. They moved swiftly and silently through the darkness. At the first door, Murphy signaled a freeze. He kicked open the door to be greeted with a janitor's closet. After clearing it, they moved on to the next door. Everett had the honor of kicking open that one. Inside was computer control room, empty.

Suddenly, a burst of fire erupted from the end of the hallway, sending the team scrambling for cover.

"Frag out!"

Murphy yelled as he rolled a grenade towards the shooter. It seemed to have effect on the rate of fire that was pouring down the hallway.

Sarah felt kinda stupid clearing a janitors closest, but it was necessary.

Next room; computer room, empty.

As they started for the next room they began taking fire from down the hall, and immediately returned fire as she ducked back into the computer lab as Murphy toss a grenade toward the shooter.

She waited for the explosion before poking back out leading with her rifle, no immediate sign of hostile, the grenade seemed to have done its job.

Kenneth cracked his neck as he wrapped his fingers around the wheel of the warthog. Slowly breathing in, he looked around. Simple mission, but anything could go wrong.

Hearing Quintus's statement, he readied himself for the go.

After the grenade went off everything got quiet. Murphy pulled a small bag from a pouch on his chest rig. From the bag he pulled a tiny camera attached to a small screen. Crawling up to the door, Murphy poked the camera out the door, keeping his body firmly behind the wall.

Seeing nothing on the screen, Murphy stood up and signaled that he was moving. Breaking cover and moving swiftly down the hall, he found the reason for the sudden quiet - parts of two of the rebels were scattered in the dark corner. Taking up position, he keyed his mic.

"Blue one, Blue two. Area clear."

He made a mental note to thoroughly disinfect his gear, as it was getting bloody already.

Sarah moved up and past Murphy, spotting the gibs of the rebels in the corner, then proceeded to the next door with out stopping and made ready to breach it.

Murphy moved to Sarah and put his hand on her shoulder, giving a slight squeeze. With that, they were through the door.

The door flew open and they burst into a stair well, Sarah breaking Left as she entered clearing the stairs going down of hostiles "Up or Down?" she asked simply over the com

"Up or Down?" Sarah's voice crackled over the comms.

"Down" replied Murphy.

They went down the stairs carefully to avoid getting caught in any booby traps. The stairs ended in a long, dark hallway, the only light coming from a bulb at the bottom of the stairs. Murphy quickly smashed out the bulb with the end his barrel, thrusting them into darkness. He activated his NVG's knowing that Sarah and Everett were doing the same. Murphy drifted to point, the darkness feeling as if it were engulfing them despite their night vision.

There were no doors in this hallway, simply concrete walls. The team moved silently, ready for something to jump out.

Murphy kept his cool, but couldn't help but be reminded of fighting the Flood the places like this.

Sarah flipped her visor over it's 'Low Light' setting and follow Murphy down the hall. In the darkness Sarah almost vanished, where it not for the white shoulders and red visor coloring. She didn't really like the lack of doors, if a fire fight broke out they where easy targets, and it reminded her of the Covenant base her first team had raided, some of the worst parts of that missions where in halls like this
