"Rest assured, the more advanced Mankind gets, the more ways they'll find to kill each other..." He repiled as he checked out some of the weapons in the Assembly line.
Richardson observed the robots as they went about their routines. "You have nothing to worry about from me, I have no intention of imposing a battleground on your territory." Attack Rugal here? Of course not, as long as he is trapped here, I have all the time in the world...
After much rooting, Rugal managed to find a large cannon:
"This should do it, now to find the power..."
"One thing I like about my home is that we're usually fighting other groups like giants, devils, and demons, with the occasional aberration thrown in the mix. When we do go to war, it doesn't end well. The one that ended two years ago resulted in a country being completely corrupted. Nothing there can be healed, and nothing lives there besides the Warforged." Her grim statement stops as she sees a large construct easily passing ten meters in height sitting down behind some large crates. It had large weapons where hands would usually rest and a low center of gravity, showing that this was made for war.
"If we could find a way to get that titan moving, we could easily destroy the power source. The trick is doing so while making sure it doesn't decide to attack us." She searches around for a way to power it up.
After checking out his new weapon, he notes a power core stuck into the end of the cannon.
It's size and shape matches a slot in the back of the robot.
"I think that this Cannon runs off a similar core, but as you said, it might attack us, so you want to see if we can turn it to our side or use the Cannon?"
"Wait, this looks familiar. If I remember correctly, this thing doesn't have much of a mind. All it needs is a command, and it'll fulfill it. Of course, I wasn't in that war, but I've heard stories of their sheer destructive force many times." She examines the construct, and sees that it's in relatively good condition. The only thing it needed was a fuel source.
"Alright then, Here, you fire it up." He said before yanking the power core out and handing it to her.
He talked back a little next to the rest of the Guns should the worse come to worse.
Owen frowned and sat up from where he dozed off, cleaning his gun. "So we're heading in there, and we'll be trapped?" He said as he walked over next to Richardson. Peering at the city.
She climbs up the construct's back, placing the core in its back. Upon activating it turns to Rugal. "Mission objective, master?" the machine calls out in a flat, metallic voice.
"List usable commands?" He says with some uncertainty, Rez was said to control everything, I douth he would like this but still...
The Construct listed it's commands as Attack, Defend, Service and Stand-by.
"Rugal, aren't we aiming to get rid of the power source for the shield generator?" She makes sure to keep some distance between herself and the construct.
"Which is wny we're not heading in." Richardson turned to Owen; "We shall wait until they attempt to try something on Rez or until they try to get by us, then we will strike."
"Baby steps, This is a battle robot, look at it the wrong way and you won't live to regret it...Command: Service..." He said before unknowingly stepping in front of Slindis in case it acted up.
The Eye,s lit up blue and it said "SERVICE MODE: ONLINE, AWAITING COMMAND..."
Rugal looked down and saw a can on the ground.
He kicked it forward and said "Pick up that can..."
The Robot came to life and picked it up by scooping it in a gun barrel
"Alright, do you want me deployed anywhere? I can knock a grunt's mask off from 300 yards with her." Owen nods to his sniper rifle, which is being slung over his shoulder as he speaks.
"Ok, thought the guns turned into hands, uuummmm...Query: Power Grid Locations" Rugal commanded the Machine.
Pitiful design, nothing on the M.A.N.G.O. Model, but then they went and blew it up...
"There is one component to the power grid inside the basement."
"Of this Building, Huh, this might actually go well, Command: Follow." Rugal said as he went looking for an entrance to the Basement, the Kill Bot following.
"Rugal, I'll keep an eye out up here in case we have any friends coming." She draws her rapiers, ready for any ambushers. Hopefully we can get out of here as easily as we got in here.
The construct follows after Rugal, shaking the ground with every step. As it proceeded on, a large set of doors came into view.
Rugal and the Constuct enter though the doors and head into a lift.
He presses down and the lift starts to move, causing him to have to put up with annoying music with a massive kill bot.
As the two arrive at the bottom, a female voices chimes, "Welcome to the basement, sir. Here for your maintenance on the power grid?" The construct gets out of the elevator, awaiting further commands.
"Errr...yeah, Maintenance...Command: Lead the way to the Power Grid." He ordered the Kill Bot who then stomped forward into the darkness with Rugal in tow.
Christ, a city with basements and all, in only a few days, I MUST learn something to take home.
The construct begins making its way through the basement, with its eyes casting just enough light for Rugal to see the many failed weapons and armors strewn about. "We are approaching the power grid. Command?"
"Command: Fire on the power grid..."
The Construct raised a .50 Cal. Minigun and started to fire at a faint light in the distance, which then exploded, lighting the room for a brief second.
Rugal smiled and went for the Lift but, due to the Blast, the Construct was knocked out by the EMP.
He entered the lift and tried his headset.
"Power is down, took out the robot too, how are things on your end?"
"It was taken down? That's a shame, but we should get out of here while we have the chance. If the elevator doesn't work, look for a ladder to climb up." She takes another look around, not seeing any movement. Now the fun part begins.
Rugal tired the lift as the Construct reactivated.
It turned to him, his eye's now red.
"Oh no...Oh Hell No!"
He climbed up the roof as the lift below him we riddled with gunfire, causing it to tear apart and fall down the shaft, Rugal avoided death by climbing the Lift Cable, but the Construct followed...
She shouts over the radio on all channels, "Get the hell out of there! Some of the weapons up top are activating. I'm gonna try setting off the explosives here to cut them off!" She sheathes her rapiers and draws her bow, loosing arrow after arrow at the now active robots.
Rugal kept up in his desperate climb as the Construct scaled the shaft after him, every motion causing a massive tremble all along the shaft walls.
Several flying drones started to chase Slindis while firing a kind of grapple at her.
She rolls to the side and fires arrows at them, shooting cleanly through them. "Rugal, we don't have much time! When you get up here, we're running!" The machines ceaselessly marched on, ignoring the weaponry by them.
"REALLY? YOU DON'T SAY!" He replied as bullets whizzed past his head as the Machine fired at him.
Using the Cable as a rope, he lept from side to side to avoid them.
Several more of these Flying Drones joined the chase, the Grapple hooks they fire seemed to be designed for capturing, not killing, still, with the rest of the weapons coming online, getting captured would mean death.
"Tira, guide my blades." She puts her bow back abd draws her rapiers again, stabbing the robots in their chest areas. For every one she destroyed, three more took its place. You've faced devils and demons. This shouldn't give you so much trouble! Breathing heavily, she touches her arm and produces grease under the feet of the robots approaching. "Rugal, you still have that hand cannon, correct? Fire on the barrels that have grease on them when you get up here."
"I USED THE POWER CORE FOR THE KILL BOT, REMEMBER? wait..." Rugal said before he let go of the cable and landed on the Construct's face and started to unload blow after blow, leaving clear dents in the armour.
The grease worked well on the standing robots but in the confusion, a grapple hit it's mark and got her ankle before starting to reel her in.
She began slicing through the cable with her rapier, barely managing to sever it. However, it did its job: the machines had time to close in on her. She touched her arm again, choking the area in front of her with a thick fog. She began to move towards the elevator, expecting Rugal to be up there any second. "It's swarming up here. I can only hold for a little bit longer!"
She looked down and saw Rugal struggling with an Gun tiring to swat his off
He managed to stand his ground, however the Construct lost it's grip and began to fall.
Seeing this, he turned and leapt for the Lift cable, only managing to grab it with one hand as the Construct fell, knocking the shaft with a massive explosion.
As Rugal struggled, several more robot grapples where fired as the one who tripped couldn't get back up.
She rolls to the right, stabbing one of the robots in the chest when she gets up. Could I be at my limit? It was obvious was trapped. Slindis desperately swings away, even as the robots batter her body. "No. Not now. Not here!"
