Amazon Prime Video may receive a God of War TV show adaptation from The Expanse & Wheel of Time creators and Sony / PlayStation Studios

God of War TV Show in Talks to Premiere on Amazon Prime Video

God of War will be the latest TV show adaptation of a game if a deal with Amazon Prime Video is successful, per Deadline reporting. Negotiations to bring Sony’s bestselling adventure game to TV are underway, with the show reportedly coming from The Expanse TV show creators Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby, The Wheel of Time showrunner Rafe Judkins, and Sony Pictures Television and PlayStation Productions. Sony is expected to co-produce the show with Amazon Studios.

Sony has been working day and night to bring its beloved gaming IP to screens large and small. The Uncharted film recently released in theaters starring Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg. Meanwhile, The Last of Us is receiving a TV show adaptation at HBO starring Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey, which is likely to arrive in 2023. A Twisted Metal show starring Anthony Mackie is proceeding at Peacock as well.

PlayStation has been busy pushing its gaming adaptations, but it is not alone in its endeavors to bring its IP to new mediums. Xbox is set to launch its Halo series on Paramount+ later this month. There are also Fallout and Mass Effect shows on the way, though those projects are much further off from release. With the God of War TV show only just reported upon and no story details available yet, it will be quite some time before we see Kratos on our television screens, if it happens at all. In the meantime, game developer Sony Santa Monica is still aiming to release God of War Ragnarok sometime this year.
