"Lucky break, huh?"
Lucia looked up to be greeted by Pegs and giggled, "so it seems" she said, also happy to see some one she got along with
"Wonder who's the unlucky person that's going to sit there though."
"Who knows, hopeful, some one tolerable, or at the very least, quiet" Lucia said with a stretch.
Lucius finished scanning the room, making special note of the snake-woman, the fey, and the more obvious vampires. with a slightly disdainful glace at lord Crim, he floated along to the boarding counter, spent a short while working out where he'd put his passport, and then boarded, floating along to 12A, and began to feel a little underwhelmed by the level of comfort these humans travelled in. Luckily, Lucius had a pretty small frame, his height generally appearing greater due to his penchant for levitation, so he just about fit into his little seat, where he sat - momentarily touching the surface before deciding it would be infinitely more comfortable to hover, as ever - and looked around to see who was occupying 12B.
Dominic was increasingly more annoyed with Edward's barely disguised insults regarding the Council and its methods, even thought that the comment towards Theon was a little below the belt. He felt like responding, but the boarding call had begun, and people started heading towards the plane. And of course, being a member of parliament, Edward had certain privileges available to him. Dominic soon signalled over to his family and Theon.
"Don't worry Seras, people like him are not important. No matter how powerful they are they are just simple minded self centred fools. And if you don't want me to fight him, I won't, though if I would he would lose." Theon said as he smiled at Seras, then proceeded to kiss her on the forehead; this had brightened her mood somewhat. "And if you don't want to worry about him then don't. Let's just focus on our trip and ignore him." Seras hugged Theon afterwards, and kissed him on the cheek.
"Thank you. And your right, I shouldn't worry about him; though I have this feeling he'll be cropping up again at some point, but thats for another time." Seras then noticed Dominic's signal.
"Come on, looks like we are boarding now, you go ahead, and I'll wake up Kate." Seras said as she got up from her seat as Nicole went past to be with Dominic. She gently shook her younger sister awake, and saw Kate's dark blue eyes flicker into life.
"What, what time is it?" Kate asked still half asleep.
"Time for boarding the plane, we'll be leaving for England soon." As Seras finished her sentence, Kate stood up from her chair and gathered her things, and then headed over to the departure gate. Seras then gathered her belongings and headed to the gate as well.
"Attention all passengers of flight 2387; with continuous service to London, England. We are beginning priority boarding, boarding of military service personnel in uniform, and...". Theon was relived to hear that they could finally board the plane. He had been trying to ignore 'Lord' Crim, which hadn't been an easy thing to do. Theon had been raised with the belief that everyone was equal. But Crim was one of the reasons that there wasn't true equality yet.
"I will say this, Lord Rogue; you may believe you're doing what's best for the vampires, but I tell you it's mere sentiment; founded in poor assumptions and foolish beliefs in equality. I, however, am a realist. We're vampires. We survive on the blood of the creatures below us and EVERY creature is below us. It would be wise to remember this." Crim was finally about to leave, Theon sighed relieved. Just before Crim entered the gate, he turned once more. "Oh, and lord Rogue; you may want to invest in a flee collar," Crim said, pointing at Theon and Seras with his finger. He then quickly turned around and walked into the hallway, laughing loudly. Theon got furious, he was barely able to contain himself. He took a deep breath and his fangs turn back into normal teeth. Theon looked at Seras.
"Thank you. And your right, I shouldn't worry about him; though I have this feeling he'll be cropping up again at some point, but that's for another time." Seras said. Seras looked at Dominic and then back at Theon. "Come on, looks like we are boarding now, you go ahead, and I'll wake up Kate." Theon nodded, he grabbed his things and walked onto the plane. He spotted Crim and his wife and wondered if he should talk to Crim. He eventually decided against it. When he passed them he was surprised to smell werewolf on them. This puzzled him, but he continued walking. Theon eventually arrived at his seat, Seat 14 B. He knew that Seras had 14 C. He wondered who seat 14 A belonged too. He sat down in 14 B and waited for Seras to arrive.
John looked to the people sitting next to his seat at 14A, and saw the werewolf that Lord Crim had insulted sitting next to him.
"Great, just terrific," John thought. He was hoping to turn the inflight magazines into gollums without being noticed. Trivial when sitting next to a simple human, but a paranormal would more likely notice that he wasn't actually jus browsing through Sky Mall. Also, while John felt strong that his magic cloaking spell would prevent spells and magical sixth senses from detecting his true nature, he wasn't sure that that it would prevent a werewolf's heightened senses from simply smelling his wizardry.
John was hoping all the wires and electronics running over John's body would at least combine with the smell enough to confuse the Werewolf, but that just may make him curious.
"Well, best introduce myself," John thought.
"Hello, I am Joseph Wells," John said holding out his hand to the werewolf, showing no obvious indication John was lying.
Theon had not been paying much attention to his surrounding, he was surprised to see a man in his mid twenties sitting next to him. Theon could smell all kind of electronics on the man, he also smelled some magic. He didn't know what kind of magic, but it was magic alright. "Hello, I am Joseph Wells," The man said holding out his hand to Theon. Theon smiled in response, he grabbed Joseph's hand and said "Good day to you Joseph, my name is Theon Versipellis." He shook his hand.
By the time that Seras got on the plane, she could see that her family had already gotten themselves settled, and was moving closer towards them. She barely noticed Edward and his wife, and their disapproving gaze; to her left she saw the blue dark haired woman from earlier, sitting next to a girl who was roughly Seras's age, though younger, and also had wings.
'Hmm, ironic seeing one of the Fae species on a plane.' Seras thought to herself as she finally got to her aisle seat at the back of the section, and saw Theon conversing with a man who was sitting next to the window. Without either of them noticing, she quietly sat in her seat.
John gave Theon a fairly tight handshake.
"Nice to meet you," John inquired. No clear signs that Theon ("How the hell am I going to remember that last name?") was lying, and was giving a real smile. However, he did see Theon nose twitch, so John guessed his human cover had been blown. He noticed (but pretended not to) Lord's Rogue's daughter had sat down.
"So, why are you heading to London?" John said, forcing himself to restrain from some obvious references.
Theon got a firm handshake from John. "Nice to meet you," John said. "So, why are you heading to London?" Theon smiled. "Well I always wanted to travel the world. And when Seras and I both graduated a while back, we made planes to travel the world together. And we decide to start with London." Theon turned his head to Seras, he smiled brightly as he said "I am happy to see that you made it onto the plan without any further problems." Theon placed his hand on Seras hand.
"Well, that should be fun," John noted, seeing how Theon and Sera were distracted by each other.
John grabbed a magazine and pretended to start looking at the crazy crap they were advertising ("Why do they keep advertising these cheap lawn decerations on an airplane? Do a lot of people really buy this crap?") pulling out a marker with disappearing ink to write the runes needed for golems.
"You know what was up with that Vampire guy in the terminal?" John said, trying to keep the couples attention on anything but him.
Dwight noticed his uncle moving away from him. He hurried to catch up with him his back trotting behind as ran to catch up with his uncle. His Uncle soon was talking to Lord Rouge. A rival of his Uncle Dwight knew he was going to be the butt of someones jokes before the end of this. He looked around and saw a seat next to a couple and person reading a magazine scribbling in it furiously before he could become involved. He opened his other half's favorite gun magazine and began reading begrudgingly.
Zaheer decided to head towards his seat. There was no point in wasting time and it seemed Annester knew nothing of importance. He questioned why there even was an escort at all, but decided the matter wasn't worth his attention and boarded the plane.
Zaheer's ticket read 13A. He wasn't interested in who would sit next to him. This was his second time on an airplane and Zaheer found them infinitely boring. If teleportation wasn't so risky to learn he would have just gone to London that way. He sighed and swore to learn to use that safely as soon as possible.
Zaheer also wondered how much of a hole it would take to capsize the entire plane. Pressures up to a certain level could doom everyone except him and the other ascended pretty easily. That would be a sight to see. Zaheer put the thought out of his mind and attempted to figure out a way to keep entertained through the long and arduous flight.
Mohini didn't really bother getting upset over the vampire lord's so called insult. He certainly managed to upset others though, but to her he just came off as weak. She hadn't been this close to him before and the rumors were more impressive than the man itself. In person he come off as conceited. She could have her people lock him up in a room with garlic, crosses and continously break every bone in his body, over and over, only to let him heal. Maybe that would make him more of a man, and less of a braggart.
The call for boarding came. She gathered her belongings and headed for the entrance to the plane. Once on board, she sat down in 12D
Richard kissed Terra's forehead to get her attention again "Let's board our seats, Lovely Girl." Richard got up, and levitated their baggage to follow them, offering a hand to her "M'laaaaaaaaaaa~dy?"
After he was done trying to charm her into affectionate gesture, they boarded the plane together and settled in their assigned seats.
And then the other Ascended plopped right next to him. What a twist of fate Zaheer thought as he stared up at the ceiling. The other Ascended was sitting with his lover, which made sense and Zaheer returned to feeling pity again. Immortality had its ups and downs sometimes.
Zaheer stirred in his seat a tiny bit and calmly said "Interesting, I have Annester buy my seat and he puts me next to you of all people. I suppose he wants us to meet after all and in that case, you may call me Zaheer."
Zaheer stuck his hand out, one of the only skin parts visible to most, with the intend to be friendly. He had never met another Ascended so he figured this meeting would be somewhat entertaining for a few hours.
"Who knows, hopeful, some one tolerable, or at the very least, quiet" Lucia said with a stretch.
She turned around to see one of the group of vampires and dhampirs stare back at her while Lucia replied. 'Yeah, I know. A Fey in a plane with a buncha vampires.' She was tried of the comments. Every flight she had been on had at least somebody who pointed out her wings or that she was encased in 'cold iron' or whatever. She sighed and looked at the passenger behind her and quickly returned to looking at something else. Pegs would have to remember even more than ever now to keep her comments about vampires to herself. And now she was even more restless than before. She spotted a snake lady of sorts slithering towards the aisle seat next to her. Well it could be worse, there could be Mr. Lord Crim himself sitting next to her and Lucia. But with him sitting one seat behind it was bad enough. She concluded with a thought. 'Couldn't get much worse than this.'
"Well here she comes now." Pegs replied.
""Well here she comes now."
Lucia looked over from her now reclined position to see a Lamia "So she is" She said as the Lamia sat down. Lucia has seen several Lamia before, though never actually 'met' one per say.
"Hi, I'm Lucia" Lucia said, sticking her hand across Pegs lap for a shake, deciding to make the most of the situation.
Richard smirked and returned the handshake "Willy can be wily sometimes, you'll get used to his meddling. I'm Richard Fortnight." this man is another Ascended, Luv.
Richard's right eye shimmered with a brief scrying of the plane "I've made deals with demons in atmospheres less tense than this. Shall we agree to not obliterate the plane from existence by pitching into pointless battles?"
John finished his first golem, deciding to look around and see who else is sitting immediately around. He looked right and noticed Rogue and the rest of his family were sitting on the other side of the row. He looked forward, only have a mental panic attack. The man sitting directly in front of him was glowing a bit. The amount of magical energy that must be contained in that "man" to be bleeding out like that, yet not have the control needed to keep it within, can really only mean one thing.
"An ASCENDED Mage? Here!?!" John did his best to keep his appearance calm. Mages suicidal enough to even try for ascent gain massive amounts of power at constant risk of it breaking out at any moment.
"I am flying with a $#&*ing unstable nuclear bomb?" John thought to his horror, "How did I miss this guy in the terminal?"
"Interesting, I have Annester buy my seat and he puts me next to you of all people. I suppose he wants us to meet after all and in that case, you may call me Zaheer."
John looked to the man sitting next to the ascended, wondering what kind of paranormal he could be. Not many notably features, he caught a glimpse of some blue eyes, but nothing that would indicate what he-
"I've made deals with demons in atmospheres less tense than this. Shall we agree to not obliterate the plane from existence by pitching into pointless battles?"
"ANOTHER ASCENDED MAGE?" thought John, as he lost his cool composure, and grabbed the side of his temples. "I am flying with two demi-gods of barely contained power, who view all of humanity as somewhere between an ant and a paper weight, who could level a city with a thought. And worse of all, they are bored out of their minds."
John started whispering calming spells just to avert a heart attack.
"I've made deals with demons in atmospheres less tense than this. Shall we agree to not obliterate the plane from existence by pitching into pointless battles?"
Zaheer laughed at the statement and responded "You still are making deals with those little things? I have Asmodeus serving me coffee in the mornings." It was clear, even without vision of his face that Zaheer was jesting.
"In all seriousness though, I am not one to procure fights with others so as long as you don't wish to test your new abilities on me, then I won't be fighting you any time soon. Speaking of, what is your reason for coming to London?"
"I am happy to see that you made it onto the plan without any further problems." Theon remarked with a smile as he held Seras's hand; which prompted her to smile back.
"Yeah, it wasn't too much trouble after getting Katie to wake up. Since they were calling for boarding in groups, it meant that the cues weren't overly long."
"You know what was up with that Vampire guy in the terminal?" John asked before he started making golems with some kind of marker.
"If your talking about Sir Edward Crim, then he is a pure blood Vampire fanatic, sees them as the top of the food chain. He likes treating people, or rather Vampires like my father as a punching bag in a verbal sense, since my father acts with a greater amount of respect towards other beings than Edward does. I mean he married a Human woman, and has two Dhampir daughters, one of them being me. And since he is a member of the Council, he tries to ensure peaceful relations between Humans and Vampires." Seras took a moment to pause for breath then continued.
"And by the way, the name is Seras Rogue."
Richard heard incantations and glanced back at the panicking Human wizard "You know, we aren't so unstable that we'll just randomly explode. You don't need to invent a new salt-based perfume just because we're sitting next to eachother. Believe it or not, I kinda like Humanity. I clearly remember BEING human, though, which helps. What's your name, Wizard?"
"... What's your reason for coming to London?" Richard looked back "See my sister some more, show Terra around, connect with the rest of the Ascended to see what I'll be getting up to from now on. Travel. Generally enjoy myself."
"M'laaaaaaaaaaa~dy?" Richard said, offering her his hand. This earned a light laugh from the demon girl, who took the hand without delay. "Why thank you good sir." she offered, enjoying the little play. The two quickly passed through the gate; having waited until nearly the end of their boarding zone.
As the two reached their seats, they found the third seat in their cluster taken by a strange man."Interesting, I have Annester buy my seat and he puts me next to you of all people. I suppose he wants us to meet after all and in that case, you may call me Zaheer.". A few moments later, Richard's voice appeared in her head, explaining the man was in fact another Ascended.
With the realization, she turned to look at Anester, who was only just boarding the plane; a smirk on his face as he saw the two ascended meeting for the first time. The smirk quickly evaporated as he saw his own seat was next to a certain vampire lord no one really seemed to like. She pitied the man; but not enough to exchange seats with him.
"I've made deals with demons in atmospheres less tense than this. Shall we agree to not obliterate the plane from existence by pitching into pointless battles?" Richard said aloud, drawing Terra back into the conversation. Terra smiled wiry at the statement, enjoying the ammo it gave her. "Making deals with demons now Richard; should I be jealous?" she said, her tone giving away the statement was meant as a joke.
Terra quickly stretched out her wings - it would likely be the last time she would be able to for a few hours, so there was no sense in letting the muscles tightening more. There after, she took her seat next to Richard. She broke out the trashy romance novel she'd been reading in the airport and opened it to where she had left off.
She kept an ear on the conversation, listening for any further input she might add. When Richard brought up the Wizard in the row behind them, Terra looked back to see what he was talking about; only to find the aforementioned wizard on the boarder of cardiac arrest. quickly reaching out with her mind to lightly read Zaheer's emotions, confirming he really didn't want to destroy everyone. At the same time, she picked up on the unknown Ascended and the panicking wizards names.
"I wouldn't worry too much John; they're telling the truth. Neither Richard nor Zaheer really want to cause any problems" she offered, trying to reassure the man, not realizing that she'd inadvertently used their names before being introduced properly. "In any event; none of us bite-" she said, before turning her head slightly to the vampire lord two seats over. "er... well, most of us anyway; so it should be a quiet flight." She held out her hand to the panicked wizard, saying "My name's Terra by the way; pleasure to meet you."
Lucius, long past caring which other beings, paranormal or otherwise, were around him, sat aloof from the many conversations around him. To slightly increase his personal security, he began casting a basic ward around himself, which would notify him if any magic was cast which would harm him.
a few minutes, and some complicated gestures later, he decided he may as well chat, if just to scout for a potential ally. he noticed what he remembered to be a half-demon sitting a few seats down, and leaned across to him.
"hello, my dear Demon, my name is Imperiosus, though you may use my Praenomen - forename is perhaps more the modern phrasing - Lucius, if you are so inclined." As he spoke, with his everpresent accent, Lucius gave a probably-not-quite-convincing smile, and offered a handshake to the Demon.
"if I may ask, what nature of events bring you to the great city of london?"
EDIT: decided to talk to a closer character.
"See my sister some more, show Terra around, connect with the rest of the Ascended to see what I'll be getting up to from now on. Travel. Generally enjoy myself."
Zaheer felt even worse for Richard now. The guy had a family that he felt something for. They would all die before him, long before him and then he would be alone. Zaheer had lost his connections long ago and the Ascension wiped his memories. His own mother was but a blurry figment of his dreams now.
"Ah. My ascension killed everyone within a five mile radius and wiped my memories so I lost my connection to others a while ago...You are aware what your unnatural lifespan will cause right? Well, enjoy it for now I suppose. Oh and to be fair, the reason I am going is simply to gain power. I lost all reason to stay in the United States after graduation."
Zaheer turned around to the panicked man in the back. "Hey, don't worry about me, it's been at least three weeks since I had an incident." His eyes flashed brightly with energy as he spoke.
That last part was a lie but Zaheer thought it would be funny to freak him out more. Plane rides were already very dull.
"You know, we aren't so unstable that we'll just randomly explode. You don't need to invent a new salt-based perfume just because we're sitting next to eachother. Believe it or not, I kinda like Humanity. I clearly remember BEING human, though, which helps. What's your name, Wizard?"
John froze at that. "Did he just read my mind?" John thought at that.
"I wouldn't worry too much John; they're telling the truth. Neither Richard nor Zaheer really want to cause any problems..."
"@#%^, THEY CAN!" he thought.
"The name is Joseph," John said somewhat calmly, immediately forcing himself to think of childhood memories and his fathe rwhile trying to purge of any thoughts of classified data, "John was my father's name. Also, if you would please, stop reading my mind. It is really $#^*ing creepy to have people IN MY HEAD." John went back into panic attack mode, 1. in hopes they would leave him alone if they saw the distress they were putting him through, 2. chaotic thoughts are harder to read, and 3. because actually was distressed, since mind readers are the worst thing to run into as a PIA agent. Still, he kept to his training and gave started thinking about a plausible reason as to why he had so many layers of cover.
"They will find out. They are reading my mind and finding out about things I have done with magic and electronics. The council will find me and burn as a heritic for 'corrupting their ancient art'. I am so dead, I am so dead." John thought in his mind, now actually having problems breathing, not even looking at Terra's friendly hand.
"John was my father's name. Also, if you would please, stop reading my mind. It is really $#^*ing creepy to have people IN MY HEAD." "joseph" said, as he began to freak out.
And, as Joseph began to lose control, Terra's head began to hurt. "Ow!" she yelped at the emotional changes. "Please try to calm down Joh-Joseph... I can't really turn my telepathy off, the best I can manage is low-level empathy." Terra said, holding her head. "and if you keep freaking out, all it's gonna do is give me a headache and make me read your mind by accident." she said, trying to explain why staying calm was critical.
As she said this, images of a home in what appeared to be a south-western, U.S. city, unknown faces, and for some reason the occasional closed door passed through her mind in a haze. through it all, Terra couldn't help but notice how well defended the mind was; he'd had training against mental attack. Not enough to really stop her if she wanted in, but enough to draw mild curiosity.
Then, through the emotional storm came a voice. "They... find out. They are reading ... things I have... The council... heretic... ancient art... so dead.". Now things were getting out of hand. Terra was halfway tempted to call on her darker powers to control the man's emotions; forcing him to calm. Were it not for the consequences of drawing on those powers - the sudden, nigh-irresistible urge to devour the nearest sapient creature's soul - she might have actually considered doing so.
Mohini stared at the bluehaired woman sticking her hand towards her, then the fey sitting in the seat next to her. She hesitated for a few seconds, then she took a firm grip of the hand and shook it.
"Mohini." She said, and then scratched her cheek with the same hand, before pointing to the fey. "And who are you?"
John just said his calming charm, getting his nerves and his heart rate back on track, although it wasn't working very well.
"Please try to calm down Joh-Joseph... I can't really turn my telepathy off, the best I can manage is low-level empathy."
At that, John started to calm down. He knew if she tried to get into his head again, he had some means of defending himself. Thankfully, with how this mission was going, inducing a panic attack and going emotionally insane wouldn't be that hard. He also hoped that enough of that message went through to send her on a different (although still very true) line of inquiry.
"I am alright... I am alright," John said, breathing calmly. He grabbed her still outstretched hand, "Nice to meet you."
"Oh, her face is just priceless right now," John mentally giggled.
Lucia smiled, she was gonna say something
"It is really $#^*ing creepy to have people IN MY HEAD."
her attention was pulled to the back of the section, so she spun around and poked up over the back of her seat to see. she saw the winged woman from earlier, and another guy whom seemed to be having a break down of some kind
Richard felt Terra's pain and quickly opened his mind to handle excess load for her, sending her feelings of affection and support. Turning to the Human mage, Richard himself cast a calming spell with enough power to make a rabid dog mellow "Calm down, I didn't read your mind, I just heard you casting the calming spells and observed you, then made my own conclusions mixed with what I had seen from the airport."
Richard protectively held Terra to him whilst he spoke to the man, rubbing her arm gently hoping that she would find solace in his support.
John had calmed down when he was blasted by Richard's mellowing charm, pushing him pass calm and collected, and made him utterly loopy.
"You people look... funny," John said, staring at the ceiling, laughing to himself.
"Did introduce my seating mates guys? This one is a Werewolf in London and that one is a vampire thingy... a half vampire..." John said, waving his hand around drunkenly.
"Did I mention I love you guys? Your my favorite plane peoples since I sat next to a lepracorn on a trip to Malaysian," John giggled, still holding Terra's hand.
Richard's face was deadpan as he recast the spell, hoping this try would let the man sleep.
