The Tower of Druaga (Started)

*Grievstein, 'The Next World' outpost.*

The sign reads as you leave the building and enter the square. The mass of people start to disperse, each off to do their business - only a few stick around, obviously first timers, not knowing what's where. You, too, were told nothing, just given passage you paid for.
The town is located in a cavern, that much you can tell, but how large it is or what's outside is a mystery. The town square is open and empty, only a few workabouts crossing it to reach one of the surrounding buildings. Across it is a building, much like the others, but with a sign above it's front door, reading "HOTEL".
Those that would take a walk through the town could find a market divided into two sections, one for foodstuffs, the other for everything else. There's also a smithy, an inn, a couple of bakeries, and a barrack. It's not a large town, but it's a heavily defended one (none of you know this so far).
The cavern is damp and somewhat dark, but you can discern it's day outside. As you stand there, a platoon of Grumar soldiers walk up to one of the passengers, a furry humanoid. One squad surrounds and tackles him, placing a woolen bag over his head. They knock him unconscious, and drag him away. The other squad surrounds Konrad and his beast. Their lieutenant looks at the rest of you and barks "Go on, get off to yer business! Nothin' to see 'ere!". He pauses as a sinister smile climbs on to his face. "And welcome to Grievstein." he adds, switching his focus onto Konrad. "That beast is either to be slain here, or tossed out. You can go with it. Choose. Now."

You walk through what seems like a redundantly long hallway, light grasping at you through the windows. You can view the square outside, but you're focused on the two-winged door at the far end. As you get closer, it opens. You enter the small room. The guards close the door behind you. They are unimportant. The man in front of you is your employer. His back facing you, he's standing and gazing through a window, smoke rising from a pipe in his hand. "Sit, please.".
There's a desk between you two and a chair on both sides. You sit on the one on your end.
"I'll be brief. The document in front of you contains information on your target. It's not much, but there's not much to tell. You'll also find maps and the necessary clearance, should you need it, to keep you out of trouble from our men. There will be a patrol heading out for Miiuk later today. Join them. From Miiuk you can reach our main outpost, where the fugitive has been held captive. You can start your search there. Once you've eliminated your target, bring proof back to the authorities there. Only then will you receive your payment. You can either accept the job now, or go back through the gateway. Do you accept this assignment?"
He blows his pipe as he awaits the response.

Konrad looked at Captain of Soldier's face with anger: "Why is that so? What if I disagree to both of those options?" He couldn't leave his best friend somewhere.

Why is that so? What if I disagree to both of those options?

"STEADY!" The squad unsheathe their weapons. "WALL!" The lieutenant shouts out the command, and his men do not disappoint. "You are surrounded by men armed and armored, and you DARE talk to me like that!? Okay, I'll make the choice for you. He's going out, and you with him. Unless you want to talk back again?"

You are surrounded by men armed and armored, and you DARE talk to me like that!? Okay, I'll make the choice for you. He's going out, and you with him. Unless you want to talk back again?

Konrad was pissed off now. He was just about to fight the captain when he realised that he won't win: "Fine. But don't you dare to tick my friend or you will feel my fury. Please show me the way to exit."

Scythe, while reading the document angrily replies "Do i have to join your little patrol? I prefer to work alone."

Do I have to join your little patrol, I prefer to work alone?

"You can use whatever methods you deem best. I merely suggested a course of action. They'd lead you to where you're supposed to go, after all. But should you accept, you will have to report to the authorities in Miiuk withing the next week. He blows on the pipe again. "Does this mean you accept?"

Fine. But don't you dare to tick my friend or you will feel my fury. Please show me the way to exit.

"Men, did'e just talk back at me again? I think he did. Know what? I have an idea. Since you said please, I'm gonna let you live, but you're not going to thank me for that. Men, escort him and his beast to the barrack. We're sending them on a little trip", he said with that evil smile of his. He continued as the smile vanished, "Subdue them the moment they make any sudden move. You've permission to kill."

Feeling a bit uneasy from seeing how cruel guards were to the last person Nesalor slowly steps forward and asks the lieutenant "Can you tell me the way to the capital city young man?" Even though Nesalor was using a physical form of an old man and he was used to acting it felt strange speaking as an old man.

"Doesn't seem right"

Thought Kytharian after watching from a distace, after he saw the evil smile and the words to his soldiers, he decided to follow the soldiers escorting a man with a strange beast.

"I shouldn't do this..."

He changed his mind, rather than act, he'll just follow and wait for further events, would be interesting exploring the city meanwhile.

Can you tell me the way to the capital city young man?

The lieutenant completely ignored (did he even hear him?) the old man, and continued off with the new prisoner. Kytharian waited a bit before taking pursuit.
Echos of metal clanking filled the air as the soldiers passed the empty streets. Those few that the platoon did pass by were also soldiers themselves. The buildings, too, continue this monotony - all alike, some of stone, some of wood, some a mixture of the two.
A light wind blows and with it it brings the smell of fresh baked bread. Through a labyrinth of streets they walk - and quite a labyrinth it is, considering how still and same the surroundings are - and as they do, ever so slowly, the town starts to breathe. Civilians - or at least soldiers off duty - and a rising sound, like that of a bee hive, invade the streets. A corner or two away, a market emerges, not as bustling of life as one would expect, but still quite a sight in this most unlively of places.
The sounds soon fade away as the platoon takes a different route to its destination, one that doesn't involve pushing your way through the town's denizens. The way leads downwards, an now no longer is the outside world hidden behind a veil of gray and brown, but instead within reach, just behind the town's gate in view.
Not to far from it, the soldiers arrive to their destination - the barracks. It is here they plan to imprison Konrad and his beast, in dungeon underground.

Let's see what this lieutenant prepared for me
Konrad was guided and escorted by Lieutenant's soldiers. They were walking like that until they arrived to barracks.
"Eh? So this is where we're going? Doesn't seem that scary. Well I guess that your Captain underestimated me. Well now tell me: What do I have to do here?" He patted Mothh's head "Why do you react to pets just like this? Mothh is just an innocent pet tiger and my best friend."

"Not a bad town, I can live in here"

Kytharian kept following until they arrived to the barracks.

"What are they doing ? Are they going to keep him in prison ? Is he conscious of that...?"

Not knowing any of the intentions, Kytharian decided to stop the pursuit and walk around the town. He entered the smithy to sharpen both of his swords and then headed to the inn, having in mind about that man and his strange beast.

The lieutenant completely ignored the old man

Nesalor decided to wait for the soldiers to come back.
"I should just stay out of trouble and wait for them to come back"
Nesalor thought to himself.

"You can use whatever methods you deem best. I merely suggested a course of action. They'd lead you to where you're supposed to go, after all. But should you accept, you will have to report to the authorities in Miiuk withing the next week. He blows on the pipe again. "Does this mean you accept?"

"I accept, but i will be going alone. I have my methods and your men would just get in the way." said Scythe while taking the maps and clearance.

I accept, but I will be going alone. I have my methods and your men would get in the way.

"Excellent. You may start right away." And with that, the door opened. "Remember: report in Miiuk in seven days, at the latest." The Grumar continued smoking his pipe, waiting for Scythe to leave.

What do I have to do here? Why do you react to pets just like this? Mothh is just an innocent pet tiger and my best friend.

"You don't know when to shut up, do you?" The lieutenant makes a few gestures with his hand and walks into the barracks. Suddenly a net falls onto Mothh. He tries to shrug it off, and doing so, only entangles himself more and more. Before Konrad can react, he receives a blow to the head, blacking out.

A coin or two less in his pocket after visiting the blacksmith, Kytharian ends up finding the inn. It's hard to distinguish buildings in this town, but luckily there's one thing all inns have in common - a sign dangling at the front. For those that can read, it says "The March of Progress", and for the rest a drawing trying to depict the same.
Say what you will about the Grumar, this innkeeper knew how things work - be good to your customers and they're return in profit. He jumped right away to fulfill Kytharian's request: food, a drink, a room maybe?

food, a drink, a room maybe?

"A room please."Meanwhile the Grumar went to prepare the room, Kytharian sat down on a chair and started to hear a conversation between 2 soldiers who went in the inn for food and drink.

"The lieutenant always hides his intentions, I wonder what's he hiding right now about that guy and his beast we sent to the barracks." Said the first one with his spear on ground and a cup in his hand.
"I don't...*nom* 'gnow', but I wouldn't like to be him right now, that guy seems like to never shut his mouth." Said the second soldier meanwhile eating.
"We never allowed this situation before, no beasts has been allowed *slurp*."
"Just forget about it, I'd bet they'll be in lifeless forms in matter of hours."
"Yeah you are right, the lieutenant is strict, hurry up, we gotta make the night shift."

"I can't let this happen..., I must go there and stop this somehow. But it will better to act at night"
Thought Kytharian.

"Your room is ready." Said the Grumar.
"Thanks." Kytharian went to pay the fee and went upstairs.

"I should just stay out of trouble and wait for them to come back"

Nesalor quickly changes his mind and goes to visit the marketplace. There he buys some food supplies by using his magic on the merchant selling food so that merchant thinks Nesalor gave him the money. While doing so Nesalor overheard a guard and a man (who appears to have bribed him) talking about an outsider with a tiger who will most likly get executed. Because of this Nesalor decided to head towards the barracks.

"Excellent. You may start right away." "Remember: report in Miiuk in seven days, at the latest." The Grumar continued smoking his pipe, waiting for Scythe to leave.

Scythe leaves the room with all the necessary documents. He walks trough the hallway and comes out in the town square. Feelings like he needs a drink and abit of rest before he goes on the hunt he asks a nearby guard for the nearest inn.
"Ay, you'd best head trough the market for the inn, they be servin' the best drinks there." the guard points and adds "And stay out of trouble."
Scythe thanks the guard and heads for the inn. As he walks trough the town he cant help but be reminded of his own hometown, with all the cosy little buildings and the happy children playing around. He also notices alot of guards which puts him off his initial feeling. Finally Scythe reaches the market. It's very crowded and busy looking. As he makes his walk trough he keeps looking at the weird stock that some merchants are offering.
"Fresh goat eyes, get 'em while they are hot!"
"Only here! Mashed worms!"
"Musso trunks! Only ones in the whole country!"
Being distracted by all of this, Scythe accidentally bumps into an old man.
"Pardo..." before finishing, Scythe senses something odd about this old man but decides not to say anything "...n".

Nesalor responds to the man that bumped into him the way that he would expect an old man to react to "It's all right sonny." When Nesalor had a better look at the man he noticed he was a bit strange so he decided to "scan" him with his magical abilites. It was obvious to Nesalor that he wasn't a normal human so he decided to ask him a question "Say you look like a capable fellow. Do you perhaps know the way to the capital city of this fine floor?"

In his room, Kytharian pull out one of his two swords, a very fine made Celtic Longsword.

"Perhaps I need to do some scouting before I act, maybe the barracks will be too crowded. I will just use one sword, I will disguise myself as a common swordsman."

He left one of his swords in the room along with his other things, locked the door and headed himself to the barracks.

"There's medicine for everything Sevirche, we know this."
"Why don't we cure him then? Get another loyal subject to take up the cause?"
"Because, Sevirche, we first have to make him want it. Only then will he truly be loyal."
"And what of the other one?"
"He, Sevirche, is truly of interest."

Pause.

"There were also ot..."
"Sevirche. The 'sly' one is of interest because what he has is innate to him. The rest are artificial, made so by some entity or another. If we can, we'll take them, but remember to keep focus on those that truly matter."
"Of course."

While the barracks themselves were seemingly unguarded, the surrounding walls were a different story altogether. They seemed overcrowded, and the towers at each juncture held half a dozen of crossbowmen, while the town gate had twice as many hardened soldiers. Need it not be mentioned again that the streets are almost graced only by men of war, this town was obviously made as a strong defensive outpost before it was converted into a town, and it still remains as such.

A prison, if any, is probably access-able through the barracks alone, and who knows what wanders through those halls. A rescue of any kind spoke of failure... Unless you could somehow pass through unnoticed.

"I'm sorry old man, i do not know." replies Scythe. Still feeling uneasy by the odd feeling surrounding this old man he decides to stay around him and learn as much as possible. "I was just heading for the local inn to get a drink. Maybe someone there knows where the capital city is, why don't you come with me?"

"What a fine idea young man." Nesalor nods in aggrement. A moment later he adds "I am in need of a quick rest and a good drink," while he thinks to himself I can just sense that this guy will bring me useful information for my journey.

Right going downstairs of the inn, Kytharian was about to step through the door and leave the inn when a man together with a older man stepped through the door blocking it, in a quick reaction, he swiftly backed a few steps. The old man looked at him, and started asking.

"Do you know where is the capital city young man?"

"Huh, in this town it's full of guards, sure there would be something of interest, I've heard it used to be an outpost... Maybe of strategical interest... But not something of worth."

"I am not sure what you're asking for..."
