"Perhaps." Erica said with a sigh. Shrugging, her mood returned to normal. "I sinserely doubt it, however."
"I'm sure it'll help." Laguna said, trying to cheer her up a little.
Seras noted Greed's actions and words, then walked away.
The door to Salamander's cabinet dented as an infected started beating on the door of it, screeching and grunting with each punch.
Vice kept her briefcase tight in her grip as Laguna tried to grab it. Once he got the other one, she spoke with Camilla for a bit longer before walking back down the stairwell.
Greed would eventually see something coming up on his front.
The deathclaw thing would find that the invisible thing it was hugging wasn't Yuki as Yuki was casually walking away, though her footsteps made no noise as she strutted away.
The Deathclaw was obviously sad, and began to run after Yuki.
As Eve wandered around, she spotted the green manhole cover. Noting that it was different from the others around the city, she decided to investigate. She crouched down and tapped on the manhole cover, as if she was knocking on a door.
As he lazily looked around further, Greed noted the movement. Tilting his head, he looked towards whatever it was that was causing the movement. Now what have we here?
Seeing Vice and Camilla head down the stairs, Erica followed suit. She considdered leaping off the edge of the building, and use her wind magic to do so safely, so to not descend down the stairs, which seemed to have taken a very long time to ascend, but decided against it in the end.
Tophat readied himself, then contacted Erica.
(To Erica: I assume you are set on dealing with the daedra?)
The manhole cover obviously didn't do anything, because it was just a manhole cover.
Arcade followed Erica and Co down the stairs.
Laguna headed down the staircase, following Vice and co.
"I am." Erica mentally answered with a nod, that is, after recovering from being startled. "I have no alternatives, I don't wish to go on, living like this."
Eve lifted the manhole cover up.
As long as the staircase was, Vice and Camilla both exited the well on the first floor and began to move out a bit.
What Greed would see was another infected, though this one looked like it was on fire. It roared a small bit as it straggled around, getting closer to the zone.
As the deathclaw followed, it would notice the infected shying away from her as she began to head somewhere.
She yells out as Undine and Slyph arrive, Slyph starting to blow the infected away while Undine starts to drench them.
The manhole led into a large room, with a few crates and a dumpster. On one of the crates was a Lincoln Action Figure, and one of the walls had a panel.
Eve climbed down and picked the action figure up. She examined it for a few seconds, then put it back, not having a clue what it was. Then, she opened up one of the crates to see what was inside.
The crate didn't have anything. But behind it was a Panel.
Eve tried to move the panel.
Greed raised an eyebrow upon seeing the infected, as he willed his staff to uncoil, and slither into his hand. "Huh. Looks like someone started something, but didn't bother finish it."
"Ooh! Crispy!" Gluttony exclaimed with a big smile. "Can I eat him?"
Greed shook his head, then aimed at the infected, and soon after, fired a single magical bolt, that would explode with concussive force upon impact. "No."
Erica left the building after Camille and Vice, her looking around while taking a defensive stance upon hearing Greed's bolt being fired in the distance.
(To Erica: Very well, then my course of action is clear. If you ever are to remember anything I say or do, let it be this: People change. Valentine was a murderous villain who gathered the forces of evil, but she changed. Dromaeus was a bastard only out for his own gain no matter the cost, but he changed. Myself? I have killed millions in my day, torturing innocent people for my own gain. I changed, and now sacrifice my own soul and life to save a few murderers and brigands from eternal torture.
However, even more painful than the memories of the horrible things I have done is seeing you turn into the kind of person you once loathed. Remember Grace? - The memories of that time, if Erica had forgotten them, would stream back in. - She was capturing souls, much in the same way that you do know and would even sacrifice a child to gain her goal: Bringing her brother back to life. I hate that dagger and seeing you inside it to this day, please do as she did and change your ways. Good bye, Erica. Perhaps I will one day break free of the daedra and return, but 'til that day I will be safe in the knowledge that my sacrifice is going to be remembered.) - With that, Tophat focused and quickly broke the captured souls loose. It then gathered itself, taking the vacant place inside the soul gem. After a moment or two, Tophat focused itself and prepared to contact the daedra.
The panel gets removed, showing a keypad.
Whatever noise and posible danger that might have come with them were dwarfed by what went through Erica's mind. Recollection of dreadful events, largely forgotten, so painful it hurt Erica physically. Clutching her chest, Erica fell to her knees and sobbed. Worsening matters for Erica was the knowledge that her sole hope of fixing her memory problems, had been taken away. Sacrificing her long time friend, wouldn't be something Erica could do.
The Keypad showed a few buttons, a few letters, and a large sign that said "Open."
"Crap!" he shouts, running after her.
"You okay!?" the doctor asked.
Laguna stopped as Erica collapsed, sobbing. He ran over. "Whoa, whoa! You ok?"
The infected would step to the side as the bolt was fired at it. Eventually, Greed would see a fireball being launched at him.
Vice looked back as Erica suddenly broke down, sobbing.
As the infected slowly got shoved to the side, as it was only one or two in the building, the noise began to attract more. However, they came in from one doorway, in numbers around 15. The other doorway of the kitchen was still open.
Eve decided to move away from the keypad for the time being, and opened up the dumpster.
Seeing the fireball the heading his way, and ducked beneath its trajectory. As he did, he fired a second bolt, although less accurate then the one fired before. Once the fireball passed over him, Greed rose to his full height, and charged at the infect. Gluttony followed suit, running whilst leaning slightly forward, and his arms thrown back. Greed would approach from the infected's left, while Gluttony from the right.
Hearing the faint sound of battle, Nanami directed Rook to head closer to the source of the noise, while not leaving the eastern side of the safe zone entirely.
Erica was largely unresponsive to either Arcade, or Laguna. She continued crying at the resurfaced memories, now clutching her head with both hands, and rocking back and forth slightly.
Laguna knelt next to Erica, tentatively putting a hand on her shoulder. "You alright?"
The infected noted the second bolt coming at it and shot flames from its hands like a jet, propelling itself out of the way of the bolt. It then shot these flames at both of the homonculi.
Vice paused for a moment before continuing forward, keeping the vaccines close to her person.
Eventually, Yuki had led the deathclaw to a dark alleyway.
A short while after Laguna laid a hand on her shoulder, Erica looked up to him with rather bloodshot eyes, then hugged him. "H-he's gone..." She said whilst sobbing. "Again... A-and... He t-took away the only option I h-had... It's not fair!!"
Seeing the jet of fire coming from him, Greed dropped to the ground, and slid towards the infected on his back, gritting his teeth as he recieved scrapes in doing this. Nearing the infected, Greed armoured his hands and arms, and swung a left hook to the infected's knee.
Gluttony moved away from the fire, but wasn't quite as fast as Greed, and so, was still struck by it on his left arm, and partially, his torso and face. Not actually wearing clothes, nothing caught fire, however, being exposed to the flames left nasty blistering. Gluttony uttered a scream as red sparks showered from the burns. Once over the pain, Gluttony resumed his charge at the infected while the wounds healed.
Nearing the center of the safe zone, Nanami told Rook to stop, able to see the Homonculi fighting the infected from the distance she was at. Assessing the situation, she found she didn't need to leave the area she was to patrol just yet.
The dumpster had a bunch of melted metal at the bottom, and there was obviously a mechanism for removing it. There was also a slot in it to insert fuel, along with a few switches, and a few pencils.
Arcade just patted Erica's back, "Sorry... I don't know what your talking about..." he said in a calming tone.
With great effort, Tophat attempted something it never before had done, creating a psychic rift between dimensions. However, even with it's immense strength it could not do more than alert the being on the other side of it's wish to talk.
Laguna hugged back. "Easy there, easy. What happened?" He said slowly, hoping to calm her down.
Seras was busy brooding a bit and ended up falling into the open manhole.
