lately he seemed to be running out of ideas on his reviews, but this one was the best he had in a while. i'm still gonna wait until infamouse is cheaper, though

I'd argue, and someone may have already pointed this one out, that KOTOR II actually got the "karma" issue right. A lot of both behaviors, either good or evil, actually made sense to roleplay. The evil in particular often offered a lot of rewards for following, and also had clear roleplaying motivators (such as if you really just freaking hated the Jedi Council or wanted to roleplay out anti-wookie racism.) Take into account the fact that the game revolved around the "good vs. evil" question via the struggle between the two force using factions, and the fact that one of your main story influences kept trying to convince you to walk the middle of the road, and I think we were rewarded with a very rare "well done" morality scale.

That game looks fucking awesome. Sounds like it could have GTA 4 for breakfast

yahtzee LIKED it? gosh I wasn't going to get it but if he actually thinks its good...

Wasn't sure about Saint's Row 2. Yahtzee recommended it. I bought it. It kicked ass.

Wasn't sure about Fallout 3. Yahtzee recommended it. I bought it. It kicked ass in a post apocalyptic future in an alternate reality.

Going. To. Buy. It.

This one got a few good chuckles out of me. I think I enjoy the ones where he likes the game more than he hates them. This video, like the Bioshock one, made a good point about morality systems in games. And even when a grey/neutral area is present, it's usually almost impossible to attain and then stay at. Not to mention it's rather boring compared to being good or evil.

I did love the little dig at the end about Republicans and the psychic hobos making trash robots.

I wouldn't be surprised if Valve is behind this game now knowing that Yahtzee likes it. No offense to Yahtzee but he is a Valve fan boy like all of us.

If your wondering what I'm saying ill use variables =D
Y=yahtzee v=valve games I=infamous

Y says V are great
Y says I was great
Great=I and Great=V so I=V
It is just an Idea =]

Almost every review has complained about that fucking retarded morallity system and rightly so!

Good on you, Yahtzee!

Great review, truly one of the better ones I've seen in a while.

This was a well thought out review with plenty of punctuation. I guess Yahtzee is a little tired of mercilessly bashing games.

And about "those carts the fatties ride around on". I used to work at Albertson's (which is a grocery store for those who have never walked in one)

I have a fond memories of that. Particularly of elderly people getting it stuck after ramming it into a display and refusing to stop accelertating.

My favorite moment with that was when a man went up to me and asked, "Do you have the electric chair here?"

"Excuse me?" I replied.

"Oh you know...the electric chair."

"I'm sorry but I don't know what you're referring to."

"You know that chair with the power."

"I'm still confused. Sorry, sir but we use lethal injection in this state."

What was the game right next to Portal, that he touts as a belly dancing example?

Holy crap, Yahtzee reviewed a game he liked! lol and ya, sure the game has very minor flaws but it's still one hell of a great game. Bout time the PS3 had one, don't you think? Lol

And I wish they'd drop the moral system crap.. or make it far more interesting at least.

Aside from the fact that I'm definately getting this game, yahtzee needs to stop with the tasteless political jokes about republicans that only gets ignorant overly-sensitive radical liberals to laugh. My point is, if it's not even slightly true, then it won't be funny. I think anyone with a brain can guess that I'm a conservative at this point and if there was a joke about Democrats relating to communists then I still wouldn't laugh because that's not true either. Why not make jokes about evil/stupid people that no one likes (Kim-Jong-Il, Saddam)? As a bonus, this will inturn prevent flame wars in the threads about unrelated topics.

More people laugh when you insult someone/something that we don't all hate.

Also, do you think yahtzee gives a damn if a flamewar starts over joke?

nope, he realizes the escapist is full of idiots and fanboys so he couldn't care less about the responses. I know he won't read my post but I have anough free time to give my opinion on it.

Zephyr892:
And Barry. It's a joke.

Get over it.

Oh, the irony.

I think there is a misunderstanding here. It it just a sugestion to stop using politics in his reviews. I'm not angry at it, and I stop caring after I gave my opinon on the joke but since both you feel as though you have to dedicate posts on the matter and be a jerk about it, I now have to point out that I cleary said it was a joke in my first post, it was just bad. Not to mention your both telling me to get over it when it's you who should get over my post, don't respond, and move on. I know it's a joke but I liked it better when he reviewed the game with clever metaphors and similies that made us fall out of our chairs. I would prefer if you don't respond to this either.

dunnace:
OMG YAHTZEE USED FREEDOM OF SPEECH! GET HIM!

I was just criticizing the bad joke, which is also freedom of speech.

Now I want to see him review Prototype. He liked Spiderman from what I remember, and it is a well done Spidermanish game. That and from his review, inFamous seems to be a lot like prototype, minus the moral system. Prototype just allows you to blow shit up, there is no side picking. Both sides are out to kill you, if anything you are neutral, just a very destructive neutral.

The Youth Counselor:

One of the Prince of Persia: Sands of Time games that's on the Gamecube.

And I thought i resolved all the rasons I want a PS3. (I even told me mum to get me a X360 for the hoiidays.)

Oh well.. it's just one game.

Oh I never get tired of Zero Punctuation.

He says what we wall joke about while playing video games.

Great Job!

Wow, I was thrilled to see nobody in the early comments being suspended or banned. At least not for trying to get in early.

You know. Me and Yahtzee have to agree on something.

The whole "good" and "evil" killed this game for me. While I enjoyed the graphics, the game play, and everything it was this BIG COMPLAINT as Yahtzee put it that made me hate this game.

I want to act like Yahtzee here and say that most games that say "free roam" anywhere in the name is automatically deterred by two facts. 1. You have free roam, but you have a time limit (al la Dead Rising) and 2. You have repercussions when you do something good or evil. Good, you get more abilities, but they are less powerful. Evil you have more power, but less variety of weapons.

This is why I am interested in the game Prototype that uses Alex Mercer who is a gray character. You can be a son of a bitch and not care because you gain power no matter what you do. You are super human SOB that can do what they like, but the main goal is to kill the SOBs who did whatever happened to you.

Alex's character is someone who what I call and Anti-hero. Not good, but not bad either. Just a man who is trying to survive and find answers.

I thought it was a good joke. Then again, I am capable of laughing at myself, though I'm not a republican, I'm not a democrat either. I vote for who deserves to win or at very least puts up the best case for candidacy. Laughing at yourself is essential to being able to make fun of people, otherwise you are just a hypocrite. I'm not calling you one, but I hope you get my meaning from this.

yeah, i'd have like to have seen more variety, but by polarizing the powers, you forse the player doawn a path where the cinematics will seem better suited to what your character has done.
i got the game last week, LOVE IT except for the polarizing systrem, but i can understand it. i guess.

tustin2121:

I too feel sorry for you, especially since Yahtzee laid out the Socialist plan right there in front of you at the end of the video. Maybe not exactly the plan, but damn close enough.

Other than that sad tidbit at the end, great review Yahtzee.

I feel sorry for anybody that hates freedom and truthiness.

As he beat me to the irony mark I will try to explain this first. You called anyone who would laugh at this joke ignorant and overly-sensitive. This is ironic as you are being amazingly over sensitive about this joke and given your mass attack on any one who found it funny you are also being more than a little ignorant. However it was not the fact that you did not get it was a joke that makes it ironic. That and you would prefer it if people did not respond what sort of crap is that? If you don't want a response don't say any thing other wise grow up.

Wow, I might actually have to buy a PS3 for this mooch off my friends PS3.

that's indeed the nearest to PrinceOfPersia and Portal he's ever gotten. must be a good game, then. :)

Nice, I could barely breath since I was laughing so hard. :) Keep up the good work.

Torture is a conservative initiative? I'm sorry, but if I quoted some of the initiatives proposed by the radical left, we'd see plenty of frightening things. I'm talking not about the majority of left wingers, but some of the nuttier ones. There is nothing conservative about torture. Not even in recent years. Oh yeah, and plenty of democrats signed off on that stuff, too. Yahtzee didn't say anything about torture. He said that a truly evil person will pretend to be not so evil while they gather power and then seize totalitarian control. I see no such pattern in even the bush administration. Bush was up front about his beliefs. If we made every president who started a war on shaky grounds a war criminal, then they would all be criminals. Jefferson, Lincoln, Wilson, and FDR would all be warmongering war criminals. I'm not trying to defend warfare, I'm just trying to point out that myopic political views are gathering on the left now that they are in power. AND THEY AREE THE ONES IN FRIFCKIN POWER!!!!!!! Stop your bitchin! Your guy is in power. I said the same things to Republicans when Bush was in power.

And now that I think about it, Yahtzee showed an image of (supposedly) himself in front of a poster of Che Guevara. Talk about evil. What a mass murdering f*ck pot. Yahtzee deserves a middle finger for that. I'm not saying that he should have his free speech infringed in any way. I'm just saying that yahtzee can F*ck himself. How would someone who was tortured in Luchabania (sp) prison feel about that? Speaking of f*cking torture!

Great review! I really am suprised he liked it. I mean, I liked it; I found it to be a really fun game, despite the ridiculous moral choices, but meh, I can live with them. People I know that kind of act like all-mighty bearers of truth complained about how repetitive it is. And how stupid the main character is. In fact, when I saw that Yahtzee had reviewed it, I thought he would completely and utterly destroy poor old inFamous! Haha, now I can rub in their faces that "if Yahtzee liked it, it must be good" :P

"First off, the joke was hilarious, and it was hilarious because its true. It riffs off of very real conservative initiatives in recent years like warmongering and torturing. And it doesn't take a "radical liberal" to either see these facts or find jokes about them funny.

But what's really telling here is the claim that by not telling jokes like this, we could reduce flame wars. What that really amounts to is a kind of threat, "if you guys make fun of us conservatives, then we're going to start flame wars! Wouldn't it be better if we all just kept quiet and pretended that the rampant flaws in the conservative ideology weren't there?" Which is typical of conservatives, using threats to try and squelch speech, ideas and facts."

I'm sorry but democrats want to censor anything from video games to radio shows to the internet itself. What a myopic loser you are. Seriously. I'm so tired of the fallout of the last 8 years. An entire generation of annoying populistic faux intellectuals has crawled out from under various rocks. Basically you're saying that conservatives exercising their freedom of speech is an affront to your freedom of speech? How is anyone here squelching anything?

This one was one of the best in a while. Everyone else gets the power of dead

from the demo I do think infamous is a great game and i did enjoy it a lot.

Great review, game looks interesting as well so it seems like I have one more reason to get myself a PS3.

"Bam. Off-world Slavery."

Hahah, classic.

it all comes down to mother theresa and baby eaters. i love the fact the tardis makes a guest apperence every now and then. the docotr who fan girl in me getts all giddy lol

Good review to remember when, years from now, I actually have landed and have secured a job long enough to actually afford a PS3.
