Zero Punctuation: inFamous

for a split second in the credits it reads *finally a hero in a sandbox game that can justify not being able to swim* after finding and reading that i could not breath becuase i was laughing so hard good one yahtzee :D

Yahtzee is trolling his audience with the republican joke. I think I love him even more then I did before I clicked on this review.

I felt the whole moral system would frustrate him (which it did) but there is enough innovative and polished content that I can see Yahtzee finding merit in inFamous.

Once again though, he references Indigo Prophecy / Fahrenheit, which I would like to see more discussion on from Yahtzee. Though it wouldn't warrant a full review, a smaller rant upon next mention of the game would be pretty good, as I'm sure there was plenty to critique from it.

so whats with the last joke?

i mean, he literally just made an obama joke, only to turn it around and claim the repubs would vote for him?

im confused, down under, its basically labor party versus liberals, i assume the liberals are republicans, because they are right wing, so what the hell am i missing?

WHAT I MISSING?!

i didnt like it...he didnt rip on the game very much, or very well, needs more hate.

Am I the only one who felt that this one was a bit short?

I mean I liked it and all, but still...

if he likes this game, i wonder how he'll react over prototype.
I did like the end comment "Finally a hero in a sandbox game who can justify why he can't swim"
Although his second comment can be easily remedied with a friend.

The truth never gets old.

Yeah! Those slavery-loving Republicans! Trying to secede from the Union just so they could keep all that slave labor their economies relied on! Then trying to keep all those Jim Crow laws on the books all those years to try to stop the "Negroes" from voting! Then trying to enforce and uphold segregation for all of those years!

...oh, wait a minute, I don't think those were Republicans come to think of it. I wonder which party would go and do something like that...

To even compare today's Republican Party to Lincoln's 1860 Republican Party is just idiocy. Surprise, parties change a lot over the course of 150 years. Go outside, watch the news, and realise that today's Republicans are no longer the progressist party that they were a century and a half ago, and that just because your great-great-great-grandfather voted for them for all the right reasons, doesn't mean you have to vote for them now.

Because, yes, if you haven't realised it, Yahtzee's joke isn't even about the party itself. It's about the voters who vote blindly for a party, without questioning its actions or values. It could apply to many Democratic Party voters, too...but it just so happens that the Republicans are easier to laugh at right now, for obvious reasons.

Now, to be on topic: good review, as always. Sorry if it's already been asked, but out of the two "belly-dancer" games that stand out from the rest of the junk, I could only make out Portal. What was the one on the right?

I never really saw what was so controversial about rupert murdoch and fox news. They give an outlet for people on both sides of the aisle to speak, and the host of Red Eye is a libertarian. Soft christian fascism? Come on now...... Yes, there are idealogues on fox news, but they exist on every network. How come John Stewart isn't a "talking head." He has a massive writing staff and only talks for about maybe an hour a week on the air. Viacom played the liberal game for decades. Why are they not as evil as Fox? Personally, I don't watch fox news because it is boring and still not real libertarian news. But when I do watch it, I just have to ask, "What is all the fuss about?"

i didnt either, and remember, most teens young adults (like, under 30) use the daily show as an actual news source, so it only keeps that shit train rollin.

also, greg isnt a libertarian, he is a conservative, bill is an old school democrat, and andy is the libertarian. red eye is the best example of the balance (and the fun)

hannity and colmes was good too, until colmes left for fox radio, but now hannity does balance with two left wing guests and a right wing one to accompany himself.

i blame whackos like olbermann, and stewart, who are able to convince people there is something wrong with a news station having an ever so slight right leaning (i admit that there are more independants than liberals, but the truth is, the indies outweigh the conservatives. ) but fox is hardly a problem(it was created because of the media's left wing bias, doncha know?)

MURDOCH IS NOT A CONSERVATIVE, YOU IDIOTS. he is an independant

did you sign up just to tell us that?

you are right, todays repubs are not yesterdays, but not for those reasons

the repubs have been taken over by RINOs, THATS why they are not the same, and dont you dare call them "pregressives" they were liberals

and when a liberal meets his goal, he becomes conservative. its that simple, and starting with repubs like teddy, the party began to go the pregressive, and terrible route.

also, im sorry, whats that bit about republicans only voting cause their grandpap did?

where have you been? the dems have had a HIVEMIND for ages now, SOME republicans dont care about politics, and just vote for the "R" though its harder to find a free thinking leftard, hope you realized that (which would mean you werent one of them)

He was pretty much spot on with everything. which is a shame because the review I'm writing suddenly looks a lot like plagiarism. (in my defense, I started a week ago.

I like his opinion about moral choices aka murder everyone to death several times in a row or escort this very nice young NPC to safety.

Also, did anyone say Crackdown?

Yahtzee likes a game that isn't portal? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

I think I'll prefer red faction

I feel the same way about karma systems in games today.

There needs to be a game where a player can roll play towards a character goal such as the example shown in today's review. A person can't be 100% good or evil, but will gain titles that effect other NPCs/Factions in a variety of ways, and will unlock stuff based on who you are. It should be left in the player's hands to decide if they are being "good" or "evil" in a open sandbox game.
Like in Fallout3 I thought i was doing the right thing when i killed all the ghouls in 10penny tower after they killed everyone else.... the game judged me differently -_-

Anyways, great review as always! :)

This one had me pause the video so i could stop laughing, nice one Yahtzee.

Very good review. Actually made me laugh for once after Yahtzee's latest stockpile of shit.

wow...an actual review...he didn't spoil anything, and he actually said he liked it...he must just put his big boy reviewer pants on for the games he actually likes...as for the good vs. evil argument i agree on everything except for the fact that he scoffs at the idea of playing a game more than once...not everyone can afford a new game a week and the time to play them like a full time job...despite my shitty tone I still love this series...i'm just glad he avoided just ranting and using spoilers as cheap laughs

Dear Yahtzee: Please find some new material or quit while you're ahead. When you're ending an episode on a hackneyed political joke that sounds like Jon Stewart on a bad day, it's time to re-examine whether or not you still have any jokes worth telling and, if not, to make up some new ones.

Dear arrogant dick: Please find some justification for your condescending remarks by coming up with better material yourself and gaining even nearly the same kind of following.

It appears that the new front-page layout has prevented the usual "LAWL IZ 1ST COMMENT LOOK AT ME MOM!" So, if nothing else, it's accomplished that.

"It's like his health meter is a six foot Mars bar and you're a diabetic." It does look like a cool game, but alas I don't have a PS3 and have no intent on buying one.

Just get Prototype instead pretty much the same thing except better

Yeah except not. And it's worse.

Ditto when you were suprised that there are super hobo's with telekinitic abilites.

iŽd thought he would review Prototype or Battleforge.

Fox news takes flak because it doesn't actually give a balanced look at the issues it reviews. Worse, it does no fact checking whatsoever. A popular example of this was the way that Fox News repeatedly (even to this day) would push a relationship between Iraq and 9/11, even though no such relationship exists. Fox doesn't present news, it presents unresearched and often irrational opinions that clearly favor a rather ignorant political viewpoint.

Case in point, conservative isn't a political party, its a philosophy. You can be an "independant" and still be conservative. That's not really a mistake anyone watching The Daily Show is likely to make.

he doesn't need to jerk off, he's getting massive amounts of booty from having superpowers.

Also a few thousand volts through one's balls may just provide the same effect as an Orgasmo gun.

The point of moral choice systems is for the developer to impose their own values onto the player.

Just when you less expect it... BAM, off-world slavery!

I think Hell just froze over

i was expecting red faction, good nonetheless.

I too have no intention of buying a PS3 but they've got Prototype available which I was told is like Infamous but happens to be more like Hulk Ultimate Destruction.

Good review! I hate that voice, too. It reminds me of a cross between a lawnmower and Christian Bale as Batman... :)

I believe the only people allowed to have gravely voices are John Dimaggio(Marcus Fenix) and Steve Blum(Jack Cayman of Mad World and animated Wolverine at some part or some series...dunno which)

I'm just going to wait for the Prototype review.

Great work. Was really funny. Fun game too. Cheers!

very funny nice 1 keep it up

yay yahtzee likes a game i like
i feel as good as i did when he reviewed portal
woohoo.... i need to get a life

"Giant trash monster from psychic, super-hobos."

Quote of the year, people.

And yeah. I agree with Yahtzee on this review. Good game. Has a few flaws, but worth a buy.

Teh Ty:
I have a feeling that the next game will be prototype, and he will compare both. I dunno, I don't really want to give infamous a chance, prototype seems sooo much more fun... and bloody.

First of all gratz 2 Yahtzee on this review...it was hilarious and yet he concedes it is good, which it is, its probably the only game of the spring summer lineup that's Fing good. Prototype is fucking garbage...I am sure if he reviews it he will be on the games case 2 because of the BS graphics/gameplay issues...but ya he was spot on regarding the moral choice system!

Jumbley:
I lol'd when I saw the Tardis. Good review as always!

WOOT DOCTOR WHO!

Ha! Loved the last second Republican jab.

Great review, and as per usual I get some insight on a game I was actually curious about. Thanks Yahtzee.
