The first chapter in Tales of Monkey Island is everything we loved and everything we hated about adventure games.

So, they didn't fix it because it wasn't broke.

I'll have to give this a try.

You don't have to dragg the mouse down. WSAD and shift for runing works great.

Is it really 2019 already? *snicker*

Yea this review needs spoiler tags. I don't mind an overview of the gameplay and story but I don't want the puzzles solved for me. I don't know if there are anymore but I stopped watching at the sock bit.

Shift for running? I didn't know about that. I walked the whole game.

Major spoilers in the video Funky boy. It took me ages to figure out how to get on the ship and you just give it away like that.

I'm disappointed in you.

Just thought I would say, good review. Though was ten years ago really 2009? Ha, perhaps a quick correction. Other than that, very good quality as always and its good to see a new monkey island game being released after all this time.

Pirates and Ninja action figures
What will they do to top that? (I like how the action figure was impaling an olive)

Why......why do you give away the solution to a puzzle in your review? There was absolutely no reason to do so!

I can't wait to play this! I love adventure games. I especially love silly adventure games.

This review seems sort of harmful to the game. Don't you think you could've gotten your point across without revealing the answers to so many of the puzzles?

I didn't realize that. I'll have to try that when chapter 2 comes out. I still don't get why they couldn't have had a more traditional "click to go here" interface like they have in the Strong Bad games. They aren't planning to release it for 360 or PS3 are they?

Yeah, I agree with the spoiler controversy. You shouldn't give away puzzle solutions at all be they as obvious as it gets. Also, why did they use artwork from Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition for this review? These are two completely different games.

Heh I may want to pick up this game.

But what was going on with Guybrush's hand? It was all green

Yes it's a little different but it's not so bad when you get the hang of it. And yeah they should've documented the Shift key or maybe it's my fault because I never read any hints, manuals,... :)

Not that it's a big deal or anything, but the image next to the article link on the front page and the preview image for the video are both from Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition, not Tales of Monkey Island.

I downloaded the demo and it doesn't run well on my computer. It's laggy as hell and crashes to desktop after the prologue.

I was like, what? The Sam and Max games and the Strong Bad games ran just well. My computer isn't that bad.

The PC version can be downloaded from the internet no matter where you live. Not sure about the Wii version.

... is the first adventure for Mighty Pirate ™ Guybrush Threepwood since Escape From Monkey Island back in 2009 - almost a decade ago.

So is 2009 almost a decade ago? :)

Seriously, I don't see the purpose of those puzzle spoilers in a review. Why did he do that?

The specific puzzle he solved is solved 90% of the way for you already in the first area, its the tutorial.

No. No it wasn't. I can maybe see giving away the membership card, that's not really a big deal. But giving away the bomb puzzle? That's unforgivable.

And the keyboard controls are much better to use than the mouse controls. But the lack of a "click to walk here" function is inexcusable.

In all honesty I think using the keyboard to move works really well. The WASD keys and shift to run is the perfect way to move around in a 3D Monkey Island. I didn't feel like I was asking too much of my mouse, and letting it worry about the puzzles, while all movement as well as opening the inventory (tab key) was easier with the keyboard.

Came across this flash movie recap of Monkey Island. It's quite amusing, but FULL of spoilers. Probably best to check it out after you've finished playing.

Why does the latest incarnation of Guybrush Threepwood look like my drug dealer?
Seriously, has Guybrush been hitting the crack pipe a little too ofter. He looks boney, thin and wacked out.

Wow, talk about bad reviewing. The guy talks about the game and then BAM! a lengthy spoiler of one of the tougher puzzles in the game.

Was that REALLY necessary?

Also, the headline image is from the wrong game. Juxtaposing the correct title on the wrong picture doesn't make it right.

On the upside, I know whose reviews to avoid in the future...
