While I was very fond of the raw Burton-esque creativity that could be found in the Manga, I was unimpressed by the anime. The interesting thing about Jing is the world around him, Jing himself is a boring as hell character.

Nicely written, Norman. I agree that the series certainly had more charm to offer than the OVAs.

I was surprised at the description, since the series was awesome, but now that I see that it was the OVA (which I didn't even know existed), well, thanks for the warning. I didn't know it existed, and now I don't care (saving me time).
