There... Are... Four... Lights!

I love these little vidoes

Woem:
There... Are... Four... Lights!

A longer version, for those that have no idea what's going on:

Also, "Fire Everything!" = 3rd trailer from the new movie Star Trek (http://www.apple.com/trailers/paramount/startrek/hd/)

That was awesome, I really enjoy the 'escapist on' video segments.

I love that I randomly search Youtube for this and actually find it.

I'm gonna go all Trekkie on yes asses! Stardate is a fluke, it's all made up, it's not even linear. Gene Roddenberry and the makers of the series said themselves, that stardates are only there, because they needed something to measure time in space. It's completely arbitrary and doesn't follow any pattern whatsoever, there is no system at all. They only used it to indicate that something happened later or sooner than something, but it's not exact at all. They didn't calculate the stardate for each episode, they just made up a number greater than the last ep.

Yes, I feel very smart now. Thank you.

Eh. Close enough.

They have a few 'ranges' assigned, and if you look through a complete episode listing you'll note each season goes up by 1000.

However, thanks to shooting schedules, some episodes are out of order compared to what the stardates would suggest.

The only rule that seems to exist in any coherent manner is that in one year. (earth time, if you're pedantic.), stardates go up about 1000 units.

(as a side effect, you can reverse this, and come to the conclusion that one whole unit is 8 hours. - An observation I found most helpful in devising my own system. XD)

But yeah. On the whole, it's fairly arbitrary. (and TOS and TNG stardates have no obvious way of relating to eachother.)

Meanwhile, as usual, I scare myself with useless knowledge. XD.

Entirely unrelated to Star Trek, but I find it funny that you'll allow Ben Crowshaw to say 'cunt' on his vids, but you'll bleep out everything south of 'damn'!

Hearing Russ swear would be hilarious.

THERE. ARE. FOUR LIGHTS!

I lol'd so hard when they were all doing the bridge explosion shorts at the end :D Was kidna disappointed no one chose Voyager for anything..

Nerd extreme moment. Isn't the Cardassian in that clip played by David Warner aka Ed Dillinger from T.R.O.N.?

Indeed it was.

Is that all the times he says/talks about tea in TNG? I thought it was more than that.

Also: "THE LINE MUST BE DRAWN HERE!"

Yea, that. I was just too lazy to memory-alpha it, again. :)

Yea, sometime I feel like a nerd, too :D

Exactly. What's with all the Picard fetish? Voyager is the best. I mean Janeway is the most badassest captain in Trek history. And she is a woman! I mean, she took the Borg head-on, took her crew home from the other side of the galaxy, domesticated a sexy drone, etc. :D You can't top that...

Really? Picard? Seriously? The gay captain? I'm sorry, but he was definitely my least favorite of the captains. He just struck me as a wuss. The crew doesn't need a father figure, they need a leader. Riker always struck me as the man who should have been captain out of that crew.

James Doohan lost that finger during the invasion at Normandy during which he was shot eight times, including one shot to the chest that would have been fatal had it not been stopped by his cigarette case.

Great ending to the video guys and gals. That was a fun trip through trek memory. :)

Captain Pike escaped from a high security hospital, through one of the few non-sliding doors in Star Trek, in a specialized wheelchair that goes slower than a HoverRound. Janeway may be headstrong, but TOS Pike totally could kick her ass, using one beep for "yes" and two beeps for "no". He's a one-man A-Team - just sayin'.

Dude, when they used the title music at the end, I SO expected his face to pop up as the last frame. Just like the show.

Look, as much as I hold Janeway dear for being a female captain, she sucked. She's a terrible leader and overthinks everything. If Kirk erred too much on the "act first/think about it later" side of things, she did exactly the opposite. The captain has to inspire the crew, they have to be willing to follow the captain into hell itself. Janeway was many things, but inspirational wasn't one of them.

Are the games we play and talk about not the predecessors of the holodeck everybody wants.
I met mortimer, fought Klingons and been to the past in a much higher resolution than the crew of the Enterprise :).

There's no denying that.

"A stranger is a friend you just haven't met yet."
"There's coffee in that nebula!"
"Mr. Kim, we're Starfleet officers. Weird is part of the job"
"At ease, Ensign, before you sprain something"
"Dimissed...That's Starfleet for "get out"!"

And there is no gay "Tea, Earl Grey, hot" there is only "Coffee, black!" :D

The thing with Seven of Nine is most awesome character development in any Star Trek series. The second awesomest is The Doctor. Or there are Tom Paris and Harry Kim. Just...awesome.

Great video, but why does everyone start off in nice clear voice and then trail off into a whisper when talking? Granted my speakers here at work suck.

Oh god there's loads and they're so awesome

"One more cup and I'll jump to warp"
"Coffee: the finest organic suspension ever devised...I beat the Borg with it."

And yeah, Voyager easily had the deepest and most believable character progression. It was also way funnier than any other version It's a shame that it had to be Chakotay that Seven got together with in the end.. >.<

You people like Captain Janeway?... Fair enough.

However, you're not going to change my opinion on who I think is the best captain.

Quite frankly, Captain Jean-Luc Picard and Captain James Tiberius Kirk completely destroy her.

Captain Jean-Luc Picard: "There...Are...Four...Lights!"
Captain Jean-Luc Picard: "The line must be drawn here!"

Captain James T. Kirk: "Captain's log, stardate 9522.6: I've never trusted Klingons, and I never will.
I could never forgive them for the death of my boy. It seems to me our mission to escort the Chancellor
of the Klingon High Council to a peace summit is problematic at best. Spock says this could be an historic occasion,
and I'd like to believe him, but how on earth can history get past people like me?"

Actually. I think one of the best single lines in Star Trek history is spoken by Spock in The Undiscovered Country. In respond to Mr. Scott exclaiming, "...then we're dead!" Spock says, "I've been dead before."

How f*cking bad ass is that.

Also, I noticed me mumbling most of all. Unfortunately Russ is the only one with voice training and who practices it frequently. Susan's also pretty easy to hear. I, however, need to work on my enunciation and mumbling if I'm going to keep doing these things. ;)

I tend to trail off because I'm self conscious of being so loud. When I get enthusiastic about something, you can practically hear me in the next zip code. People think I'm angry a lot because my voice carries, but I just have a strong voice.

I know, right? I always thought Seven would get together with Harry, "All resistance is futile" style like what Harry was dreaming in that episode. And Chakotay will finally give in and get together with Janeway. Well, they almost did, when they contracted that alien virus, and had to be left behind on that planet.

Heh, and who doesn't want to have angry sex with B'Elanna? XD

And maybe its heresy, and goes against everything Trek, but I like Tuvok more than Spock.

I never got Star Trek. From watching "Fanboy" I'm guessing you're in for StarTrek or StarWars, then I'm in for StarWars as I've seen that.

I might be too young, because all I've seen was Next Generation and only couple of episodes.

I always wanted Seven to be with Janeway, or the Doctor. I always seen Chakotay and Janeway as more of a really close friendship thing. Yeah the alien virus thing was kinda supporting the whole romance between them but I think when two people who are close liek they are are in that situation then anything could happen.

"Heh, and who doesn't want to have angry sex with B'Elanna?" I totally second that.
I always thought B'Elanna and Tom had a great relationship too.

And it's not Heresy it's fact heh, I've always liked Tuvok more. He's just cooler
