Great video. I would rather find a gun that makes a "pew pew" noise
That was by far one of Yahtzee's fastest readings yet. I had no idea something was going on with Russian terrorists in the game. After this review, i probably still will not buy it. BUT strangely enough, this review is motivating me to buy COD4 (after remembering Yahtzee's review of it).
Very funny YZ. | |
Yahtzee's face + a shovel = Happy fun times. Short and simple.
I completely agree about the SP campaign basically being shit, but luckily it's very short so the suffering doesn't last long. I did get rather annoyed with the game's tendency to kill you off as part of cut scenes, although I was more royally pissed when it did it the first time in the game because it felt like some sort of stupid punishment. The Special Ops mode does hold some promise, and I'll likely get my fill of it tomorrow at Thanksgiving with my cousin, but that alone doesn't make it worth $60. Currently I'm more than happy with my current gaming 3-way of GoW Collection, AC2, and Prototype.
Well done Yahtzee, great review as always.
I've already dedicated myself to not playing this one. While I did buy Modern Warfare 1, I thought it was kind of average as far as FPSes go.
Why is it that when I complain about the story being convoluted and dumb and the single missions being short I'm called a complete asshole who knows nothing about what he's talking about, but when yahtzee does it everyone agrees?
I honestly feel that MW2 may be a game that's better to wait for since the campaign is too short. Yahtzee also metioned the story's quality and even I'm now rethinking buying the game, even at a cheaper price.
You must be complaining to the wrong people. I was complaining that the story was short and shit as well and most people agreed with me, and then proceeded to keep sucking off the MP aspect.
I gotta say, the game is beautiful in terms of graphics, and I was only playing it on the 360, so I imagine a high-end pc is even better. But yeah, the story basically came across as every Tom Clancy/James Patterson etc thriller rolled together into one big completely insane package.
BANG! The noise made by the anti-fanboy cannon. Yeah, the one that Yahtzee just fired in the direction of this pathetic cash-in on Cod4MW with a cheap and undistinguished sequel. The first game was good because of its story. This one is not for the same reason. He's right about the gameplay being spot on as well. A very good review.
Not for storyline or exposition. That was really good. The shooting was competant, without ever being something special and the multiplayer was below average for PC shooters.
Marginally at best. | |
Yahtzee playing multiplayer? Preposterous! Actually, I quite expected it, and my suspicions were confirmed when he started talking about single player with a large '1.' on the screen. Holding out on a Borderlands review though.
I really don't think Yahtzee did his best on this one, he just seemed to gripe about the controversy for the vast majority of the video, complain a little bit about the campaign and then video over. Somewhat lackluster effort, chum.
Best one I've seen in a while, restored my faith in Yahtzee.
This actually reminds me how much I really don't want to play any form of Modern-esque warfare games. Thank you, Yahtzee, thank you for officially telling me that I'm not missing much. Now to try Dragon Origins, if nothing else but to see if it even get some drool outta me >.>
This one made me lol many times xD Also, C. I give a shit about Russian civilians (not NPCs)!
I think this game was way better then the first one. The storyline was kindof all over the place, but it was really interesting. I mean the bad guy was an american general trying to make americans more patriotic; If that isnt really awsome then you need to rethink your Priorities. Just because a game is short doesnt mean its bad. Or have you already forgotten the game with no criticism. (Portal)
He's right, those hats do rule
Been a long time since I've heard someone correctly use the word coprophage.
Did he have to spoil the whole story? I mean that really sucks.
This was the first review from Yahtzee that I did not think was hilarious, but not in a bad way but in a way in which I completely agreed with everything he said. There were no great exaggeration or hyperbole in this one just the Lord's truth. The game is a 8/10 game with a rapid fan base. I picked it up first day ; not first midnight but first late morning so I was quite excited ; and after looking at how pretty things looked I thought about how I do not care about anyone... about how stupid it was to be in the states because there was no story during all the "We are under ATTACK" levels. I loved the first Modern Warfare but this just felt like a bit more spit-shined rehash, story rehash, gameplay, plot twists, first person getting murdered, etc... REHASH! I played through "co-op" with a friend following the stunningly lacking and plebeian single player, but "co-op" is too nice a phrase for chunks of level rehash (I sure am using that word a lot, eh, if the shoe fits...) it was mildly entertaining but felt like some kind of bot team versus mode, no story or anything to flesh like they made it sound like it would be. Then I jumped into multiplayer... and after two hours and a few level up's jumped right back out. It looked a bit A BIT nice and kill cams were more detailed but it was still the same thing I spent nearly a hundred hours on the first time I played it... when it was called MODERN WARFARE! This is a bit of a textzilla rant, but I was just so happy to hear someone felt the same about it as me, it is an okay evolutionary (not revolutionary) derivative sequel to an impressive (for its time) game.
GAAAAAA LOVE THAT GAME, apparently he got frustrated on the jungle part, too, though.
I agree that the single player campaign was much too short, but I don't think the story deserves all the hate it gets. Where else was it going to go after the end of the first one? I can see why all realism was jettisoned. Spec Ops mode was a really good idea, but more could have been done with it.
Well he did exactly what I expected; and I still do not want the game. Good one Y.
When he said he tried the multiplayer I almost passed out. Then I came to again. Seems that Spec-Ops is really good. I so far like the campaign very much and I have not finished it yet. Y says it is short but I am savoring the moments. I mean, how often does it actually rain choppers? Genius.
A few episodes ago NOBODY was banned on the first page, I was amazed.
I also hated the downloading files from Makarov's computer mission when I died 70 million times and then when get to the end u die, sorry I just had to say that. Good review!
Awesome Review! I LOLed at "Solid Soap". And you know what... I know what I want for Christmas...
Those hat's are awesome!!!!
Kuliani speaks the truth.... OT: ZP is gradually shaping up from the ranting raving youtube guttersnipe to the corporate sensible business fellow.Im not the 1st person to say it either he is definitely matured (slightly) maybe he isnt so.. hilarious but he does review the game a lot more these days.. I recall a friend saying that it didnt matter what ZP you watched as the game and its features were unnecessary Yahtzee didnt need them really for comedy. And Yes Praise Be To The 'Ushanka' The Sacred Russian Hat Of Awesomeness
i really like yahtzee sense of humor on most of his videos, and that's why i made an account for the Escapist mag, i always seek his pt of view just in case so i know what generic things appears in those games... remember FUN factor is important!
Personally, I think this game is great in four player split-screen death match mode, but I get the feeling that very few people play games that way any more - preferring as they do multiplayer over the interwebs. Storyline was indeed poor, but then really I didn't much care. For me, good storylines in video games are at best a bonus, and far from the norm.

Pretty good review. Proably the best in a long while (At least in my opinon). I can understand the players dismay at the Single player, but I was kinda iffy about the Co-op. Good to know that it may actually be good.
