Pethetic: TV Troubles

Gibbles wants to watch a TV show...but *dramatic music* the TV is out of batteries!! And did somebody say that the boss was coming over for dinner?!!...no, no one said that. Shame on you for thinking it.

Pethetic is a series about three hamsters Gibbles, Fluffers and Joe as they seek to find meaning to a mankind driven existence within the confines of the pet shop Pethetic. Join them through various antics and escapades, hilarity ensured.

Watch Video

couple of good jokes...props

Thanks

Quite good actually. Although it didn't make me laugh. or even smile. I appreciate the few jokes that are in there.

I really like it and, unlike some of the entries I can see it being an entire series that would be keep my attention

There was no real theme to the video, it was pretty much a jumble of various jokes and word puns.

I've seen this guys cartoons on Newgrounds: http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/314662

His later stuff looks better.

Shows promise. It's not laugh out loud funny, but it is enjoyable. The characters and setting all have potential. The only real downside I really see is that I could see it competing with apocalypse lane on substance and stylistically...

Great animation! Some of the jokes fell a bit flat, but I see potential here.

Awesome animation, just need more story and little better jokes.

I loved this and I can see it running as a series. It reminded me a bit of Pinky and the Brain, which can only be a good thing. I also miss Buffy.

Lots of potential. Jokes need fine tuning. Could make more sense. 2 out of 5. Better luck next time.

Pretty good, you get my day 2 vote.

Thanks everyone for all the critiques and kind words :).

I can appreciate that this short hasn't much story; it was hard to get a lot of stuff into the 2-3 minutes I chose for this one, and I'll admit TV troubles was always intended to be more dialogue and joke driven then the other episodes I've done.

Although this doesn't seem likely with all the other brilliant entries in the film festival, but my long term plans should the mighty gods of the escapist smile on me are as followed. I will make the shorts a little longer, bring in at least a second writer to bounce jokes off of, improve the animation as much as possible for a reasonable production time, and really expand and develop the world and characters. I have a huge back catalogue of still unused ideas and characters that I've written down over the 4 some years I've been developing the show. To put it in sales person like speak, what you are seeing here is merely the tip of the iceberg...actually I don't think a sales person would say that.

Also I'll say that regardless of what happens, I'll continue to be pushing and building upon this concept until I die, even if it never goes beyond being just an unpaid hobby.

If anybody's interested in seeing more of these characters, I've done two full length episodes that can be watched by going to the link in my first post. Episode 1 is 15 minutes in length, and Episode 2 is 25, split into 3 parts. I've even started working on a full length episode 3, but have had to put it aside until I finish some other work. There is also another short on my you tube page which isn't exactly my best (hence why I didn't submit that one), but it introduces the characters pretty well. http://www.youtube.com/user/MikeyMCMichael

Thank you all for your support. You guys are awesome.

Good work. But not realy game oriented.

'twas funny. I sadly must say I was one of the guys that didn't laugh or even smile, but I'm sure someone out there did. It felt all....I'm not really sure. Like you watch a new movie, but then you forget it in about 30 minutes of ever watching it? Like it's not so bad that it's painful, but it's not good enough to stand out.

Keep it up, maybe fine tune your humor (like the battery joke got old really fast) and I'm sure it'll turn out fine.

Again, it was not bad at all, just not laugh out loud funny. More like, "I see what you did there" moments

not bad, best one i have seen so far.

pretty good, if it was only a little longer it would be great,

It was kind of mediocre but I'm going to vote for it because of the link to your other work. That was pretty funny.

This is my favourite one, yeah it's a bit rough around the edges but so is pretty much every other toon on the Escapist, at least when they started out.

Great production values, but it has virtually nothing to do with gaming. It seems silly to submit it to The Escapist.

This is definitely good (made me laugh, particularly the final line), but it's not really gaming-related, so I doubt it'd get picked up by the Escapist.

After watching all the entries, I have to say this is my favourite animated entry. Good luck.

I've seen the rest of these and I have to say this little snippet didn't capture the awesomeness of them. I'm pretty sure this is in the first few minutes of the pilot episode, so the voices and style haven't been fully established yet. I've always thought that with a bit of luck this could become a television cartoon.

It's really worth checking out episodes one and two.
