Two final fantasy reviews in one day?

DEAR GOD.

But yeah, if there's one thing the wii does well, it's pointless minigames.

It's a shame, it could have been so much more, if not for the laziness of the 3rd party devs.

Aye, Agreed.

If only they put more effort into it

I really like using telekinesis in games.

And I mean REALLY love telekinesis. I basically played Bioshock with only that plasmid. I tosse people around like crazy in Destroy All Humans. I pointlessly stole items with it in Oblivion. I used it a ton in Morrowind, since it was actually useful in that.

The Point TM: Will I like this if I just like to throw stuff with Gravity magic telekinesis?

Damn, and the trailer was so awesome. Oh well, Telekinesis is always fun. It's why I loved Second Sight so much.

one of the funniest reviews ive read/seen on this site, and i was never planning on getting the game and it doesn't seem like i'm going to miss much.

It saddens me that Square Enix put so much time into a promising game... but in the end it's just not good.

Repetitious final fantasy that you struggle through just for the story?
Who would have thought...

Nice review, I just have one minor nitpick in regards to the name of the moogle. It says stiltzkin and I'm pretty sure you said slitzkin?

I may be wrong and to be honest I don't actually care what its name was, I'm just being a bit pedantic I suppose.

As for the game, I was intrigued at first but I could see the battle system becoming stale and repetitive far too quickly and I think personally I'd lose interest in playing it at all well before completion.

Well to be fair modern JRPGs are built around the long cut scenes and story, so you could have guessed that right from the start.

Well, I still might pick it up. If I find it that boring, I'll just play Shotgun Frisbee with it. Just like with Ninjabread Man.

I heard this game was crap and this review said so. What were they doing for 4 years!?!?

Final Fantasy 13, Final Fantasy versus 13, The Last Remnant and Final Fantasy XIV, by the sounds of it.

Too bad.

Crystal has *always* been a pseudobastard child of final fantasy, with a lot of great ideas but nothing ever really coming together in the end.

I see a new Unskippable-special coming up. 2 hours worth of cutscenes? Woah.

I was initially looking forward to this game, but it has gotten so many bad reviews that if I ever do get it I will for the bargin bin price sigh :/

It seems the series has a new fan.

Does anyone else think Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers is too long of a title? How many franchises can they chuck into one game's name lol? Imagine a sequel to this:
Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers: Revenge of the Sequel

That just screams pure evil....

I still don't think "oh the cutscenes are too long" has ever been a viable argument.
though i don't have a wii, i probably would try this out as the gameplay does seem fun, you said in the review that it gets tiring after awhile, but that's more opinion based than anything, I'm sure there's alot of people who will enjoy this game.

How do you figure? Being forced to watch a game for an excessive amount of time, as opposed to being allowed to play it, is valid complaint.

Cyrstal Chronicles was always a poor Final Fantasy series. Squenix should stop bothering to develop for Nintendo's consoles and just stick to their handhelds.

I just took a quick look at Game Rankings seem to point mixed reviews for this game. Though I noticed Nintendo Power is giving it a high score.

Then again, I don't trust Nintendo Power anymore after their review over "Fighting Fantasy: Warlock on Firetop Mountain".

Crystal Chronicles has been a curse since Square Enix reconciliation with Nintendo after FF6.

And it still continues.

"we have failed"
was that intentional? lmao.
if you dont know what i mean its the last line in the cut scene right before the video ends.
this game has had so many commercials on tv its sad to see the advertising gone to waste on a game that COULD have been so much better.

I always liked the Yukes... Oh well, my Wii shall remain in storage for now, then.

man when will final fantasy end. how many times can you play the same story before you realize it's the same shit on a different day. there is nothing FINAL about this fantasy.

I am a huge FF fan. I mean im such a huge fan it will blow your mind, but i have to say all the new stuff sux my dik. Anything 10 or below in the series is amazing, the above.... not so much

A: It's usually NOT the same story.

B: Pointing out the irony of Final Fantasy as a title stopped being creative HOW long ago?

12 was FAR better than 8. Can't speak for 11 because the day I play a subscription MMO... is the day Lego Universe is released.

Looks like this one is a total pass for me. I'm not much into the series all the cut scene just made the game seem longer then it should of.

And wait what? You just got to out last them until a bell sounds? That's easy XD

I remember, back in my day, that cutscenes were coveted rewards for getting to a certain point in a game. You'd get to a cutscene and sit, holding in every drop of soda you'd drank to get to that point, and watch in awe. And then tell everyone you know about the awesome scene you just saw.

Today's kids are too 'gimmie gimmie gimmie! now now now!' to appreciate cutscenes anymore.

a. yah they're almost always exactly the same story

b. as long is it took you to be a jackass about it

Crystal Chronicles has always been Square-Enix's way of selling their experimental crap to blind die-hard fanboy/girls
best part is, it's not like it helps make FF any better these days

On another note, i love the review. Concise and humorous at the same time =p

I bet unskipable could do a whole month of this game but that would probably be too much of a torture to make

So, the only gameplay is basically the vinewhip from Dawn of Mana? Is there some reason you can't keep the Dragon Buster Cannon? Maybe it's powered by freefall.

WTF @ throwing cats off bridges. Jerk.

And does Layle's Crystal mark look to anyone else like someone **** on his face?

I've been playing it since it came out on the 26th and I have to say as far as Final Fantasy goes this game is a disappointment. Heck, as far as RPGs and video games go this is a disappointment. It's as though the developers thought that sticking the Final Fantasy label on the box would be enough to make up for the poor effort done. However, a ten dollar shine on 10 cent shoes still leaves you with shoddy footwear. It's a thousand years too early to even come close to what Final Fantasy was meant to be. Final Fantasy has gone down hill since Square became Square Enix. Come on developers, get it together and remember what Final Fantasy was supposed to be.
