Teef-ling. Teef-ling. GAH.
Not half-fiend. That's what a half-fiend is.
A tiefling is a human with a demon or devil in their bloodline further back than parent.

I was wondering if I was the only one annoyed by the faulty description of tiefling

And the faulty pronounciation. Gah!

I'm not a regular here, but I'm a fan of Zak's blog. I liked this video a lot. Yeah, they're pron stars, but at the end of the day, they're a D&D group. I kind of like to see how other people play the game, so this is pretty cool to me. I'm looking forward to future episodes.

Excuse me but who died and put you in charge? What makes you the person who decides what is and isn't welcome? You are in my eyes, just as bad, if not worse, than someone who types in all caps now please take your superiority complex with you and let the adults talk.
/rant

OT I'm not too sure about this, didn't get any laughs from me, but then again it might not be going for that approach. I'll give it a few more epiosodes before passing judgement.

Actually I was going off the Forum Posting Guidelines:

Forum Posting Guidelines

Maybe you should read them sometime. Also note the guy was put on probation for his post. I never claimed to be in charge, but you know who is in charge: Russ Pitts. You know, the guy whose name ends up on the production credits. I think he has sufficient authority to decide what videos go on the Escapist :)

Also it's still hilarious that you are defending a guy who just got probation, because they decided his posting habits needed reformation. It was a nice try on your part, but again Posting Guidelines: Read Them.

I did not say that he has the right to post in all caps, and I was in no way standing up for him. You seem to have misinterpreted my post, I was not trying to defend anyone, but rather pointing out that you are not Russ Pitts, and as such you should not be telling people what is welcome and what isn't. Your are completely welcome to report said people, I'm just saying until your a moderator, or someone with similar powers that you should not be telling people in a thread that they are not welcome. To me that is childish and if you have a problem with how someone is typing the best thing you can do is not show them the attention they want, but instead just quietly email a moderator, or the person directly. As such to stop this topic getting completely derailed if you have anything else to say you can email it to me and i will happily respond.

Just one last note; I am quite aware of the guidelines I however do not feel like i have the authority to be telling people what is right and what is wrong when that is not my job. Put it this way if i see some shoddy wiring in a shop, or any other business, I inform the proper person (store manager, or in this case moderator) of the problem and let them deal with it. I do not take it upon myself to fix it, even if I do know how. That is because it is not my job to fix it, even though it may save someone else some time and effort it is not my job and I have no right to be messing with someone else's shop. See where I'm coming from?

Seems to be a number of adult film stars branching out these days. First I see Kassem G interviewing them on YouTube, now I see them playing D&D on the Escapist (Though Kassem's videos are, thus far, 100% more entertaining.)

I for one think that Kassem G is a bit of a try hard. Everything he does apart from a few 'California On' videos make me cringe.

"Different strokes for different folks," I guess. I have liked all his 'California On' videos, as well as some of the 'Awkward Moments' ones. The interviews ('Going Deep') make me laugh nearly the whole way through. However, not everybody can like the same things.

The point I was making was just that porn stars seem to be doing more things on video besides get porked.

I found this video pretty entertaining ^^ and I'm sure it gives DnD a lot more credibility in some people's eyes.

Yes, because if there's one thing porn does it's give things credibility.

2nd best quote in this thread.

I've never played DnD but have read most of the articles related to it on The Escapist. Have to be honest and say that I watched the vid because the word strippers was in the description but found it quite entertaining. At the end I had to kick myself a bit to remind that all people are people and having sex for a living doesn't mean you are only entertained by strange things. I look forward to the next part.

Welcome Zac, and thanks for bringing the concept.

I agree with you that porn stars are people too. I recently started to play D&D pretty regularly, so it doesn't need to be validated in my eyes. I'm not your typical D&D player myself. The game is a lot of fun provided you are playing with the right people, so if some porn stars enjoy playing it then more power to them. I just didn't find the video very entertaining. I'll watch the next one, though, since it could very easily get better.

ughhhh...why did I watch that?

that may be one of the worst storytellers/gamemasters I have ever seen or heard. >.<

Because of this I now play DnD :P

Lets get hitting the rule book!

Yeah...DnD/Tabletop games are really only fun when actually playing them, not when just watching them. Something parodying the game while playing the game is ok, but just watching a bunch of random people play a relatively slow game isn't exactly the highlight of entertainment. But, hey, maybe it'll pick up, and not drag on as much.

"when you last finished Connie had just gotten into a bar fight, Frankie set the bar on fire and the rest of you killed people"

What a classic.

I wonder how many people google'd these porn stars afterwards...

Agreed

This was so boring but it can get good, I can think of a lot of jokes easily with this concept. I will watch next weeks, but this was boring.

I'm not a regular at THE ESCAPIST. As a matter of fact,I joined because of the video series here that so many of you seem to have such a problem with (yes, I'm including "I don't have a problem, I just didn't like it" into the group of people who seem to think this was posted IN ORDER to offend them). To those of you who feel it was a waste of of your time, well, you're the best judges of that, but to those of you who were expecting some kind of knee-slapping hilarity or some mysterious epiphany, I honestly don't know why you did. Was this promised to you? No. I don't see where all the name calling and accusations are coming from.

I guess that those of you who DON'T like "I HIT IT WITH MY AXE" won't be back next week posting about next Wednesday's episode.

I, however happened to like it quite a bit, so I'll be back.

Thanks for making D&D more awesome!

I liked this movie, I had a nice "oh snap" moment when I realized that these people were mostly in porn, which I noticed about 3 seconds after I saw Sasha Grey's name. Might not be humor filled but it's still interesting.

Sparrow:

Probably a lot, but i recognized most of them. Not by name mind you because i don't get that into my porn. Well mostly. I did recognize Satine Phoenix's name.

I AM NOT OBSESSED WITH PORN!!!

drisky:
I could only make it half way through before being over come with unbearable boredom, my own DnD group is more interesting than this, but were not goth porn stars are we? I've gotta say, this is easily the worst video in escapist history, way to go.

What about Gamedogs?

LunaticFringe:
I find D&D dull it's still better then watching people play D&D

My thoughts exactly...

Yes, even compared to Game Dogs... at least that's animated boredom.

Also, I thought this site was all about the PG-13 content, what with the bleeping of the word fuck in your own reporting videos and all that. I don't really see how having pornstars who play D&D fits this model.

I thought that too.

Serious question. Is this an attempt to make D&D cool?
As I don't so much have a problem with this video, I just don't get the point.
Its not a documentary, review or comedy, as far as I can tell

How does someone's real life profession affect a video's rating? They dont strip in it and you wouldnt know that they are porn stars or whatever if it wasnt explained in the description. And i dont think that the wording "adult film performer" is dangerous to minors.
...Yes if you do recognize them then you are certainly no minor anymore.

I was thinking more along the lines that older escapists may start commenting on where they know them from. Then the odd comment thats not "PG 13" may slip out.
I think it could be bait for the moderators wrath.

BTW, is this meant to be reality TV, I've scanned through the older comments and see that mentioned

Well, that was weird.

I was kinda hoping for comedy.....orrrr anything other than adult performers sitting around a table talking i guess. Could go well, could be kinda bland, time will tell.

I gave it a watch through, its nice to see an avant garde piece about D&D and hookers floating around this ocean of media.

Although it made me feel slightly forlorn... Always felt bad for porn stars.

And they say Gamers are eternal virgins... this'll prove them wrong :p

Well, that was a horribly dull way to waste six minutes of my already short life.
Or at least it would have been had I cared enough to watch the whole damn thing.

Probably because every video series in the history of the site has been either
1) A critic who reviews comically
2) A comedy series

I would get back into DnD if I could play with hot chicks :(

I like the juxtaposition of stereotypes we have in this. Here we have these women that are in the sex industry playing a game that is still trumpeted as being for mostly geeks. I mean, come on, that sentence alone contains enough conflicting character types to make it all a pretty cool thing.

I don't enjoy how these people roleplay, or how the DM sets things up. Then again, totally not my game, so that's okay by me. :)

So you're upset because the video didn't meet your false expectations?

Neither the video description nor any of the tags indicated comedy, anybody who went it expecting funny has only themselves to blame. I mean really now, the escapist is not a comedy website. It is a gaming website. The Escapist staff has put out videos that were not comedy before, so this is precedent you set for yourself by intentionally avoiding some of the site's content.

Welcome.. but I won't be watching.

Okay, I had false expectations. Now what? What grounds have you gained in the argument? The video is STILL not interesting/entertaining for me in any way whatsoever. Surely it's not wrong to hope the video would entertain me, even slightly? Like I mentioned before, the video is, intentionally or not a throwback to Italian neo-realist movies. Non professional actors, nothing happens, filmed on location, use of hand cameras - all the elements are there. I hate neo-realist movies.

D&D made more awesome? I don't know who you are, Mr. Sabbath. But in the eyes of this
old table-hand, you have done a great service. I look forward to your future productions.

Ah, nothing does my heart better than to see table top gaming brought out of the shadows.

I'm not saying that it changing your expectations would make you enjoy it more or at all. It just annoys me when some people (not actually you, but some earlier commentators) hate on a video by comparing it to things outside its category. You shouldn't judge this video on how funny it is, because it is not really trying to be funny. That's not to say that it will be interesting to everybody, or even most people, just that it fails as a comedy because it never claimed to be one.

Personally I am interested in this only because I'm DMing my own D&D game right now, and looking at the blog link that other members have posted, the guy looks like he is actually a good DM.
