This is so much fun! Keep bringing these videos on. 3.5e support woot!

I liked it. It was a 4 minute intro to things and I can't wait for the next episode. If you don't have the patience to let it develop, well the world (or internet) is filled with options and the next one is just the click of a button away.

I essentially joined 'the Escapist' just for this series cause Zak's description of the (un?)leashed Chaos that is his game of 4 D&D Virgins (along with 2 Adepts) trying to understand and/or control what's going on and figure out what to do read like a rollicking good time. Watching it is like watching kittens play with a chain gun.

Also note that the Satine Phoenix who commented on pg 2 of the Comments is the Satine Phoenix from the video, so it would seem at least some of the stars are willing to participate.

I think this puts an end to The Escapist's win streak. I just couldn't watch it at all. Got to about two minutes before I realised I'm just watching somebody's home video. Since it's an introduction, I will watch the real first episode when it's out but I don't have high hopes.

i don't know. i guess it could be good. but it seems like absolutely nothing happened. and get someone to work the camera while you guys play or at least get a tripod. I'll give it a chance, watch the next few episodes, before i praise or condemn it, but it's not off to a great start.

Awesome first episode, keep up the good work!

Fan club!

I know a lot of cool people

Why are so many people hung up on the "porn star" aspect? I mean, its just a bunch of cool people playing dnd. If they weren't in the business, the concept would still be sound and half as many people would be flaming it.

I don't think the term "cool people playing D&D" Has ever been uttered. Unless "You don't see..." is at the start of the sentence anyway. Also, the people in the video are not cool, not by a long shot. Stephen Fry is cool. Gothic strippers are not.

Gothic? To quote Inigo Montoya I do not think it means what you think it means. I know a lot of cool people who play dnd. To be fair, my definition of cool is likely different than yours. By cool I mean "people who are likely fun to hang out with and can converse on topics I am fond of". I don't know what cool is to you.

This is a pretty terrible video, the people have fake surnames and the people playing don't really fit in. Zero Punctuation leads the way as the best video series on this website.

This could do with some higher production values. Like a tripod and insistence that every one's cell phones are off so you don't get that beeping interference on the mic. I like the idea of filming a group's D&D campaign. Using "adult entertainers" is a good gimmick I guess. They speak coherently, are easy on the eyes, and aren't camera shy. I am looking forward to see where this goes.

Good work that man. Looking forward to see how it develops, good luck with future installments.

This is supposed to be interesting somehow?

If I want to watch porn stars, I'll watch them doing something you know, actually entertaining.

Well...erm...it's an...interesting(?) concept. I read the synopsis and thought "I'd have loved to be in the room when it was pitched."

"It's a nerd fantasy, pornstars on the internet playing D&D"

I kinda like this. Of course this may be due to the fact that I've never actually played DnD before and am still mystified and intrigued by it. A bunch of likeable people playing it appeals to me.

I have to agree with most of the comments here. It's basically just taping a group of people playing D&D and while I'm aware that it's popular to turn nigh EVERYTHING into a reality-show I'm not convinced that it's very exciting to watch people imagine something.
The Hookup seems to be that all (nigh all?) those women work in the adult entertainment-industry. Now if it's expected that I tear open my zipper because I know that the person I'm watching now also is available to watch for having sex, I have to say I feel even a bit insulted to be considered that easy to manipulate.
A user asked in the comments here why many people here seem to be hung up on the pornstar-aspect. Well, appearantly it has some importance for the author, or why would he mention it in the text under the video, why would he put so much emphasis on pointing that fact out and for what other reasons would we havethat ridiculous "I just sit here and suck...yeah I suck. I suck."-scene, among others?
I doubt there would be so much emphasis on their jobs if they were all...dunno...bus drivers?

If I ignore that fact it's really just a bunch of people playing D&D and that's...not as exciting as it may sound, even or rather especially from the perspective of a Roleplayer.

I guess it could be exciting for reclusive people who actually were convinced that Roleplaying games are exclusively played by male, undernurished freaks with gigantic glasses and lifetime-bracers.
Although those people are probably even fascinated by the fact that women may have an ow income "nowadays".

What has happened to the Escapist!?

I mean Game Dogs wasn't great but I cannot dispute the quality of its production. This! Is the Escapists standard so low that a mobile phone video filmed in a messy front room passes for acceptable?

I also question the significance of the strippers( or porn-stars or whatever to be honest I don't really care)are they necessary for the show AT ALL? Could we just watch any group playing D&D?

OK I will accept no one wants to watch a group of fat nerds ( apologies for the stereotype) but is this not a few thousand kilometers over the top in the other direction.Maybe I'm overreacting but are they seriously trying to sell us on this using PORN STARS!?

Ive seen videos with "adult performers" with more story and lasting longer too!!!

Um, this is a bit bizarre... Really. I'm not sure I see where this thing is going. Either way... count me out.

Wow, real creative thinking there guys. Who thought up that one?

Won't be watching this a second time. And I played D&D.

This is more evidence to my theory that all Porn Stars are all total geeks.

I think I'm failing to see the point. You might as well film any game group playing, it's not like strippers and porn stars are making it more fun to watch.(It is very boring to watch, usually.)

I don't want to offend the creators of this or the group or anything, but I'm failing to see the entertainment value here. Sorry. :(

I'm glad you enjoyed it, but I couldn't even watch half of, what is basically, a glorified home video.

I can't picture this having a lot of lasting appeal.

I would probably watch it if there was any effort put into making it watchable other than holding a shaky handcam in the middle of a group of people who are naturally using their indoor voice. There are many reasons I don't like reality shows, and one of them is that I can't understand what they're saying, except that when I do it turns out it's something completely uninteresting.

Wow...This is a good idea for a series. The escapist needed a reality sooner or later...xDD
I like the whole Porn Star/Stripper characters.
I think I`ve found a new series I'm going to be watching from now on...:)

Satine Phoenix:
Thanks everyone for watching!
Weather you love it or it's just not your thing, we really appreciate you all watching our show. It's really fun for us to share these moments with you. There's an Interview that posted on http://io9.com today that explains the series better.
Thanks again,
Satine

Welcome to The Escapist ;) Don't sweat the nay-sayers, not everything is for everyone. I think you're all on to something here & this could really take off if you do it right.

Coming from a similar adult entertainment background (behind the camera, that is) I find it really amusing that people are shocked, SHOCKED! That adult film actors are (GASP) real people that do real things.

See all you D&D geeks? Hot women play too. There's hope for you after all ;)

From a technical point of view however, Zak needs some lights. I'm a multimedia producer/photographer/filmmaker so I'm kind of a lighting whore, but the video looks pretty murky with just plain room lights. A couple of photofloods & a great big reflector would light everyone at the table quite nicely ;) Maybe another camera or two set up on tripods would help, too. The rest could be fixed in post. (Sigh) I'm such a video nerd.

Not that I need to tell you this, but keep doing what you're doing & fuck 'em if they don't like it! I for one look forward to watching the show evolve and it has nothing, NOTHING to do with the fact that I really dig women with tattoos who like to geek out.

Nope. Not a thing...

The only thing I could think of is...WHAT THE HELL AM I SUPPOSED TO SAY ABOUT THAT!!!???

BORING.

I'm sorry, but reality TV is bad enough. D&D is awesome, yes. Adult entertainment is awesome too, I get it, but when you mix them like this, you don't get any of the awesome stuff of either.

Additionally I just don't find girl gamers novel, and the ones here seem typical of girl gamers anyway, they're all over the place, deal with it.

This series would be better if it were fiction and played more like the office. Ham it up guys, make it interesting.

I got two minutes in and had to stop. I'm sure pleasuring yourselves on camera is nothing new, and it shows, because you're doing it here, as well. Problem is, this isn't the kind of self-gratification that you do on camera for paying customers. This is a lot more like the average person having a wank in the bathroom: I'm sure you're having a jolly good time doing it, but I don't want to watch you entertain yourself, and I really wish I hadn't walked in and witnessed it.

And really, in this case, the whole "adult entertainers doing anything other than adult entertainment" gimmick does the following:

A) Shamelessly panders to a stereotypically lecherous and lonely demographic.
B) Opens the door for obvious jokes and references related to your occupation. (Here's an idea for your next episode, free of charge: A joke about polearms. Polearms. Geddit? Hah! Man, you should totally do it, nobody is going to see that one coming!)
C) Allows adult actors and actresses to prove to be surprisingly insightful people that can provide a fresh and funny perspective on the tropes and cliches of a well-known game, thanks to their unique worldview brought on by their job. Wait, no.

Thank you. That's what I wanted to say, but I had a long day of work and am too burned out to say it...

That said, I will still be sharing this on facebook to get the word spread about it and I hope that it goes somewhere, it seems like you guys have potential for something cool, but this first entry was not impressive.

Okay, idea for a reboot of this. Five minute clips of Sasha Grey and leave the circus freaks out. Doesn't even have to be naked Sasha though that would certainly be alright too.

I won't be watching but thanks for sharing.. Sasha.

People playing D&D already know that actually, it's only the public who has the misconception that only nerds living in the basement of their parents at 30 play it.

And most people on this site are gamers, not the general public.

I'm sorry I tried and couldn't finish it without opening up another page to keep myself awake. Also I would rather play D&D then watch it

It's odd, but kinda funny, I'll see what the next few episodes are like before I fully decide whether it's good enough to watch.

Doesn't really work for me but at least its thinking out of the box... dunno when i last watched porn stars and strippers for their amusing comments

I enjoyed it and I think that once you get settled in then it will get even better. Also, may I suggest a tripod?

blue_guy:
I don't really see how pornstars make DnD less boring.

My thoughts exactly. I don't want to see pornstars unless they're doing their regular job. And D&D is about as much fun to watch as a room full of tax accountants.

I um... Well... Uh...
Why?
Playing D&D is boring enough for me. But watching people play it?
Nah.
