The Escapist has provided me with interesting articles and entertaining videos for a long time now, so I gladly opted in for this. I'm looking forward to watching new videos in high quality.

See, this is what would have been the main concern for me. Despite supporting this site and loving it to bits, I won't be joining the Publisher's Club, purely for two reasons.

1. I can't afford it, given that I can barely afford a standard social life as well on top of living costs and stuff whilst at university.

2. The extra stuff, aside from private forums and contests, doesn't really interest me that much.

However, I reckon this is a really good idea. I may possibly join eventually, but not at the moment. But I do agree with all of this. At the end of the day, Themis Media is a business, and needs to make money. And online advertising just doesn't always cut it. Anything that can help get more revenue for the company is good provided it doesn't kick the customers in the balls, and that would be a oncern for me. But those who don't join aren't losing out, as you say, so I support this 100% :D.

I may sign up. To support the Escapist. I don't think I'd do the custom title or display the badge though, I'd feel corrupt then.

Well for all the amount of laughs and good reads the Escapist has provided (plus a nice community), Priveledges aside I think I owe Escapist this money.

It certainly is a good idea, the benifits arn't entirely *OMG I NEED THAT NOWWWW!* but its primarily for people who just want to support their local gunfighter... uh i mean favorite internet gaming site!

Because we don't want your credit card info, and Amazon is a trustworthy major retailer who happens to offer a nice third-party payment system. The other option was PayPal, but we don't like using them for various reasons.

As much as you don't like PayPal, I feel it has a similar position in the world of online payment as Steam has with PC games (i.e. some people use them and them alone).

Darn... the US only contests... I forgot that. That's really annoying :)

Not sure how I feel about this. I know it's optional, but I don't know, I've never been a fan of payed memberships. Especially ones I have to renew.

I've got to ask, is there any one-time payment option going to be introduced?

Also: Paypal has never, ever failed me. It's the least shady online money-transfer system I know. Then again, I don't exactly know alot of online money-transfer systems.

Suggestion: It would be nice to access the videos from the iPhone's Opera Mini browser. It kicks safari's ass in terms of speed, so it's all I'm going to be using anyway...

I'll see if I can convince one of our iPhone-using staff to get the Opera browser so we can see if we can make it work.

Would you be able to do something similar for the Android browser? Cuz I love this site, but it is a real pain in the ass to have to set aside various items in my RRS to come to back after I get back to my machine. I see that, on the subscription page, there is something about that. Is that already implemented, or, like the iPhone, is it a soon-to-come feature?

Also, speaking of RSS, I'm assuming that I will have to change the RSS source that my feed reader scrapes to get the full feed, correct? And if so, will this new source be obvious? Yes it is.

And to add yet another question, will I get videos in said RSS as well, or will I need to hit the article on the page for those?

Edit: Yet another question. Does anybody know how to add authenticated RSS feeds to Google Reader? Or am I just SOL on that front for the time being?

I love this site too much, The Escapist has been nothign but good to me since I stumbled upon my first ZP. But I dont thinks Im gonna get paid in time for discount :( But when I get a spare few euro's I promise its coming here. (Also Im on this sit waaaaaaaaaaaaaay more than 20 mins per months rofl)

I would join this, if I wasn't 13, and if my parents would let me borrow their credit card, even though I could repay them the 10 bucks easily.

Not unless you do something so terrible that we actually have to disable your account completely. That's very very rare though. Posting porn would do it, for example.

Publisher's Club members don't get any special reprieve from moderation though. All normal rules still apply.

Wouldn't this get into sticky legal situations as you're restricting access to a service that's been payed for? If someone posts porn you could hide behind the law as there are people under 18 who browse the site. Legally though, if someone hurts someones feelings and their account is suspended you have no legal recourse to bar them access from the service they payed for.

I'm no lawyer though.

I got a mail from them and this stood out IMO.

"...But only if you subscribe by April 21st. After that, you'll be just like everyone else. And who wants that?"

This is the reason why I won't join. They want to make me feel special and are practically saying I'm stupid if I don't join the Club.

This may be a bit rude to say, but:

Up Yours, Publisher's Club. I won't chain myself(Read: pay 20 cents a week) to a Club I'll rarely visit anyway.
