Nice one. Are you gonna cover WCG2010 as well?

I would have been a competitor back in the day with GoldenEye. Alas, the reaction speed decreases as you get older so my hopes of going pro are slim to none. And by slim I do actually mean none. :)

If they release a World of Troncraft or Tron FPS we are totally going to dominate though.

Oh, you are so right! We'll call ourselves "Flynn's Army".

Cool you interviewed these SC2 players?

Spoiler:

we need that edgy sounding tough guy name.

The escapist's offices are near Raleigh, that mostly why they covered this event.

MLG encourages anyone to sign up on their website and play in their regional circuit tournaments(the non-pro ones). You never know truly how good you are until you try.

I can only imagine the epic prodigy that could result if WCG and MLG merged. ^.^

Does any one else "warm up" for a game? May be that's why I'm not professional ;)

That was just as boring as watching real athletes being interviewed.
It must smell so bad in there.

I'm not too sure that MLG is coverage-worthy anymore. The problem I've found with MLG is that while they have brought gaming into the mainstream and made it more of a non-nerd thing, they have gone one step further and brought it into as the ridiculousness of sponsors with NASCAR.

On top of that, I find that MLG players are the snootiest people on earth. Seriously, I've ran a tournament of MLG Ruleset and ran it with our own ruleset, and when I run it as an MLG Ruleset, I get a whole lot of people that complain about everything: the setup, the systems, and the possible lag (even though there isn't any, and I have the equipment to prove it). Most of all, in MLG Tournaments, we've lost hardware and software.

However, when I run non-MLG tournaments, I get a higher class of players (amateurs) which have fun just because they want to have fun. I get those MLG players which suggest we use MLG rules and I look at them funny. I say "Absolutely not." They continue to complain, making random comments during the game, "Well, we wouldn't have that problem if we played with MLG Rules." After of which, I give a warning after the third time, and I am forced to calmly escort them out after the fifth time. These non-MLG tournaments I have players that have fun because they are playing the game, and I don't lose any hardware or software due to theft.

MLG has become the bane of every LAN Center's existence. MLG players no longer play for the absolute fun of the game; MLG players play for the absolute $$ and they get pissed off when they don't.

Wow surprised something like this is actually happening here in NC. But I'm looking around in the background and.... not seeing a lot of females. Could be a connection.

I know the Nr. 4 MLG Halo from a few years ago, but he is addicted like hell which is kinda sad.

Big tournaments need big money. If we want gaming to be taken seriously, especially as a competitive arena we need bigger tournaments, the more the merrier.

There are people who's income depends on winning games, they are called pro-gamers. And some people are just jerks, you can't control peoples personalities.

How is it a spoiler if they tell you near the end of the video?

Are you implying that everyone who plays MLG-style Halo are snobby rich kids? grow up.

Over here in New Zealand, we have nationals for gamers (XLan). Difference is that over in the States, it's Professional, i.e, you get paid to play. Here in NZ, we play for the fun, the community and the passion.

Add Dr Megadeth on XBL. I'll commit some virtual rape on your American Host.

I only just heard Escapist is in the Triangle area on NPR this morning. Holy crap! Ahh, I wish I had some sort of viable skills to make myself an appealing hire candidate!
