Dead Rising 2

This week, Zero Punctuation reviews Dead Rising 2.

Watch Video

They kept the time system...And have crazy unfair bosses on the first playthrough?

I'll wait until it's cheaper then.

But the survivor AI doesn't suck?

I find that hard to believe. VERY hard to believe.

Edit:

Oh. I forgot. I must be a douche about this.

FIRST!...poster that actually finished watching the video.

great review. lot of good laughs. I'm gonna try and get it

I don't have a 360 so I never played the first, but I'd really quite like to try this one

Hentaibound:
1st!

Not true. Also: Banned!
or suspended if the gods(/mods) feel really charitable

I had a feeling he would like it. :) I didn't like it that much, but it's a fun concept. And Freedom Bear KICKS ASS! :D

how do i hide that goddamn share bottom thats obnoxiously taking up a 3rd of my video panal?. on a side note good review ^_^

good times; I always wanted to know what it was like to launch a zombie off an electrified wheelchair. Don't ask why I was curious about that

i love this show.

I suggest you go to a mall and smash the the waiters with saucepans, stab them with forks and go crazy with all the kichen equiment.

Never really liked Dead Rising, I hate when games try to rush me through them. I'll be sure to rent this and kill a hundred zombies with the sledge-axe, but aside from this I dont think the game's worth the $60 tag.

GREAT REVIEW!

All this zombie game is missing is a typing tutor mini game.

Holy Shit Yahtzee actually "liked" a new game for the first time in weeks? That's insane

Hm, might look into it. When Yahtzee actually says it's fun, I take an extra glance to see what could have caused that kind of wicked anomaly.

A decent review, but not hugely funny.

I wonder if Yahtzee is just having a good week but he didn't kill either of the latest games quite as much as he used to. Maybe he has a special person in his life now? Maybe he met them by talking excitedly about murdering zombies, who knows?

great review i had played the first one and had some reservations ab playing the sequel. But on a side note I guess even the escapist isnt immune to newbs who have to post their post number. Oh well. Nice job Yahtzee

It's good to know Yahtzee liked it. I'm also liking how he agrees games returning to OTT action like in Duke Nukem and Serious Sam is a positive thing.

Got DR2 for my birthday. Can't wait 'til Uni's finished to play it!

DR2 is such a huge improvement over the first game, I managed to get to level 50 and reach my 3rd playthrough with little annoyances, great review.

What the...?

You have to pay people to escort them?

wow he liked it! i wasn't expecting that

i figured he would rag on it for just being the first game with the cankers pruned off, but i guess that answers the question he asked in the extra punctuation about prince of Persia (can a sequel to a game that is exactly the same but with the flaws removed actually be considered a better game?)

although i suppose if they keep doing this over and over again the effect is diminished somewhat *CoughNintendoCough*

Angle grinder + plates = awesome. However I fail to see how it throws them but who cares.

However my one problem is that things tend to break too easily. You can barely lawnmower 20 zombies before it breaks. Then you get raped by the billion zombies that are now crowded around you because you were stupid enough to run into a horde with your portable lawnmower.

Or was that just me...

I want a game that is just about killing hordes of zombies.

No time limit, no sick daughter, maybe a few boss fights, but overall just you, some meat cleavers, hundreds of zombies, and the simple objective of "Go nuts"

I like the fact that we have a zombie game that actually lets you have fun with the zombies and ways to slay them. Reminds me of Zombieland, and that's a good thing.

I do that with alot of games. "Now that I've saved...TIME TO DICK AROUND!"

I may purchase this game at GAME TRADERS ROBINA!

although I wont because I have never seen that place in my life, mabey game?

If you let the story run out of time you can piss about for as long as you want.

Not the best ZP.
I chuckled at the Puppy Rake though.

I haven't even played the game but I've been talking with a buddy at work about this game a lot just from watching Achievement Hunter videos. Actually some interest conversation there. :D

A game yahtzee likes? And it has zombie carnage? I'm buying this thing!

That would be this game, if you want it to be. You can just ignore all the timers and go nuts if you like.

Absolutely brilliant!
Glad he liked it although I did think he would. Even if it doesnt like him.

Where as the first game had a near vertical difficulty curve I think familiarity with the first one over prepares you for this installment. Though it's less vital to scrounge for books in this one. And it's nice to see options other than hoarding the boss weapons for the rest of the game.

It's a pity firearms are still damn near worthless though.
