LoadingReadyRun's Desert Bus for Hope Begins Tonight

image

The Desert Bus engines are fired up and ready to begin the long journey between Las Vegas, Nevada and Tuscon, Arizona over-and-over for charity!

LoadingReadyRun's fourth annual Desert Bus for Hope, a videogame marathon and variety show benefiting Child's Play, begins tonight at 6:00 PM PST (9:00 PM EST). This year will definitely be the most exciting, with the "Dessert Bus for Hope" mini-game, industry call-ins, sponsor product auctions and LRR's general antics. The length of the event is determined by the amount of donations made - in 2009 it lasted 5 days, 16 hours and raised $140,000 - so don't hesitate to contribute! As an added bonus, for every Publisher's Club membership purchased this weekend, The Escapist will donate $10.

You can also click here to play the The Escapist's mini-game "Dessert Bus" where viewers can donate money to Child's Play by purchasing virtual pies to throw at the LoadingReadyRun cast, with Pub Club members receiving 20 additional pies with their first pie purchase. The "winning" cast member will take a real pie to the face during the live broadcast.

Throughout the event, LoadingReadyRun will also be auctioning off The Escapist prize packs around the same time as call-ins from our editorial staff and talent, so make sure to watch! You can check out the schedule below.

Tune into live stream cams to watch all the fun and play "Dessert Bus" at www.dessertbusforhope.org.

While I am disappointed I am going to miss a fair few of those Call ins since it'll be late (I'm missing the Extra Credit people, Russ, Yahtzee and Doraleous for sure. More than likely more will be missed by me and I shall be a very sad panda) I am ecstatic that it's on. Hopefully I get paid soon and can donate.

Calumon: Are you going to have all the Dessert Bus? I can help! I can! I can!

I need money to donate...but won't get paid until it's over.

:(

There should be a countdown timer on the main Escapist page... What the LRR team does is really top shelf, and it is great to see how The Escapist is getting behind them even more this year to support. I hope they are stuck playing for at least 7 days this year.

I do believe it's Tucson to Vegas, not Phoenix.

And I have to agree with Jack, too bad a lot of those guests are in the middle of the night for us Europeans.

Updated! Thanks :)

Nevermind, that was clearly a bug.

Anyways, Pie for Matt!

It was obvious from the start graham was gonna get the pie.

pie for graham.

I'm actually wanting to contribute, trying to scrounge up money in any way possible. Good luck guys, I'll be watching as much as possible.

I hope he likes pie! :P

OT: This is such an awesome thing. Can't believe it's taken me four years to find it.

Are you sure? I'm still reading Phoenix rather than Tucson.

Too bad they didn't put someone interesting on doing it, still a good cause, I suppose. Won't be donating a single penny however.

Ok now I don't agree with his opinion, but permanently banning someone for an OPINION? What is this, Soviet Russia? Stuff like this can only blow up in your face.

Wow, people really want to see Graham have some pie.

Agreed, that was way too overly harsh, assuming that that is the original unmodified quote. If that was edited after by a mod, well I could see the reasoning, but as it is? It's fine, it's a simple suggestion that maybe he would rather see a spectacle then wish torture on the LRR crew :P

OT: Though I will definitely tune in from time to time on this thing, it looks like it will be quite the event.

It was the straw that broke the camel's back.

I take it that means he's said a lot of stupid shit then, but I still don't agree that an opinion is a valid reason for a ban, and if you ban someone due to multiple infractions you ought to explain that in the post he was banned, else you're bound to end up looking bad (like right now).

If anyone is having a problem understanding why his post was an infraction, please send me a PM and I will attempt to help. We also don't usually say anything about what a person did because it's quite honestly a private matter for them.

Putting this bus back on track... only 3.5 hours until the event begins! Muwahahahahaha!

Does the $10 donation with the publisher club membership start at the same time as the marathon starts or is it already active?

Awesome. I have been procrastinating on doing it for a while now and this is just the incentive I need...now to track down my visa...

I'll pull up my laptop, and stay up all night!

So, is Dessert Bus supposed to make you refresh the page every time you throw a pie, or am I doing it wrong?
E: Also, so happy I have school off next week so I can see even more full days of it... but I'm missing Extra Credits on Sunday cos of the Pink Floyd concert! Aw.
Another edit: Okay, now it says I have no pies, even though I've only thrown 2 of my 25.

And once again living in Sweden SUCKS!!!!
I can't donate i by phonecall i can't donate by being there and i can't donate cuz i don't have a creditcard.
But i really hope you get a whole lot of money to the people who needs it.
Edit:I am going to turn in for the live streams that is the least i can do.

LOL oh poor Graham...ever popular

first the nunchucks to the balls and now this

Damn I'm going to have to work out these times.... and now I'm on BST it has made it all confusing.

I may donate something if I can remember my password for paypal...

I can pay with paypal right?

Matt is getting my pies. Doesn't look like it'll do much good, Graham is going to cop it apparently.

We actually decided to start it retroactively from yesterday morning. Makes it easier to keep track of, and it's for a good cause :)

Is it just me or is Gram getting slaughtered? Everyone else is in double didgits or low 100-ish, Gram has 600 something.

I watched some Desert Bus gameplay on YouTube yesterday. All I can say is, I shall be praying for the sanity of you all.

Oh who am I kidding. Break their souls, Desert Bus. For the children.

I think it's the free pie, I assumed I had infinite, and shot the first face I saw :/ Sucks to be Gram, but hey, it's PIE! HOW CAN YOU HATE PIE!?!?!? :D
