Truth.

I am user of all three systems (Macbook Pro+Homemade PC), and they all got huge problems.

Snow Leopard - Damn thing crashes very often. Maybe it's not the bluescreen, but there's no real difference - just a spinning ball, and freezed computer to restart. Problems with handling NTFS files, crashes 30 percent of times when i copy something to external memory of any kind. And my printer doesn't work there.

Linux 10.4 - Although it haven't crashed (but it may be because i don't spend much time there), there are many problems with programs, installing things is hell, and there are no noteworthy substitutes for many essential osx/windows apps. Working there requires knowing command line.

Windows 7 - Unluckily for this comparison i had to think a lot to find something bad. Just as Linux, when used normally, it does not crash anymore (last bluescreen i remember was in Release Candidate version, during installing of beta drivers), but when you make too much mess it will slow down - registry still present.

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't it make sense for Microsoft just to drop the Registry idea? I'm not sure if it's absolutely needed, but I don't think it is. Here's to hoping the next version only has a registry for older stuff, and new stuff doesn't need it!

As for linux, it doesn't crash but damn if it isn't useful for anything but internet service and general fucking around. It isn't even good for fucking around, there isn't enough fun stuff to fuck around with.

If it was that easy, MS would drop it years ago. Unluckily it's the core of Windows systems, and just deleting it (which would be hard by itself, because you would have to rewrite every little function to work in a different manner - tons of time) would stop all the programs and games from working - so "registry emulator" would be required, therefore at after releasing registry-free windows, old apps would run much slower that they used to be. Deleting registry will be slow and painful process, but it will have to happen someday. Not tomorrow. Not next year. Time, Dr. Freeman.

Linux... unluckily you are completely right, there isn't even a good music player like iTunes. There are no spreadsheets from Excel, there are no iMovie movies, and worst, there are no games. Thats why this system is used on almost all servers - core functions stable as hell, but nothing besides.

can you actually call vista an OS?

But.... D: i like my vista...
She treats me right and doesnt interrupt my internet porn night!

SimuLord:
A seven-year-old Three Dead Trolls in a Baggie song? Impressive. Repackaged and made new.

I'm sure I first heard this over 10 years ago, but it's always nice to see it get a new audience, and the new clip made it even better.

Giuglea:

Vista was well named IMO: Lovely to look at, but not much use for anything.

I didn't even snicker once... is this supposed to be funny because of the corporately manufactured OS war by mac?

Loved the girlfriend comparison XD

Awesome Vid nice to see it jab at all the systems XD

Also this is why I'm a mac user. I can't play games for squat and the computer does get slow and sometimes you have to replace the harddrive, but It's reliable. Just don't over work it and back up frequently.

Plus it's all nice and shiny and Kathleen :3

Umm the windows graphical interface started at 3.0 not 3.1. Otherwise great song!

Preach it brother; PREACH IT!

I still remember my C=64 I still have games for it.

That and my tapes for the PET.

The linux part was pure gold.

Someone had to say it. Thank you.

This was kind of adorable. I really liked it.

Poor guy can't get no love from the ladies without pain of some sort.

Nice skit. Not true....except for Windows but nice skit nonetheless.

Ummm....and Windows 1.0 and 2.0? Those are still GUI's.

Oh well, every OS gets it equal. Remember kids, if you're going to troll, then .....

This user is banned for supporting trolling...that and he hasn't posted a lot lately making people sad without Phoenix Wright references.

It was a good song by the way.

Azaraxzealot:
get a console

because it's true, every OS sucks.

if you're talking about for work then?
Apple - good for MultiMedia
Windows - good for corporate/professional business

Linux - as the video said "for elitist nerds" XD if you know how to run it, you may have no life

Actually linux is used quite a bit for businesses and without that damn os we wouldn't have such strong servers. The thing about linux is that it isn't really meant for consumers but purely business running servers that only do one thing. Linux is essentially the third leg of the computer and business industry and there are a lot of jobs for those that are masters at linux. It is why you can actually get certified as a linux user from organizations like CompTIA.

Personally I've had some use with linux and honestly I don't see myself as a consumer using that OS at all, but if I was running a business I would be using Windows with heavy linux support.

Awesome double bill this week. As nice as it was seeing the Wes solo runs during Desert Bus, seeing an actual PV somehow added that little extra something.

As I saw it, Apple OS is high maintenance, Windows is unreliable and Linux plays excruciatingly hard to get.

This has got to be the best thing i saw on The Escapist in the past 5 months! Great song, LRR! And you make one mean Apple, Kathleen!

This is one of your best videos yet, in fact I'd go as far to say one of the best videos on this site in a long time haha!

As abusive as Linux is...she's so damn cute >_>

Internet crashed before I could watch this episode :/ and then my windows XP was slow to boot up :( But great song and video :D Poor Matt

DING!

nice :)

Now I suddenly want to shrink Tally down to 1/20th size and carry her around in my pocket.

(Just kidding. I'd never run Windows as a live system when I can do it with Linux.)

Ding! Lady Kathleen has leveled up!

Sorry, Cataclysm comes out tomorrow. o_o;
And yes, there's no Charisma stat in WoW. It's been a long day...

You know, I was going to say they could use some sort of registry emulator, but I didn't think it would be technically correct. Oh, well.

I think there are a handful of games on Linux, not counting emulators, but not many flashy good ones.

Haha nicely done.

I remember seeing this for the first time in Desert Bus 09. It's an awesome song.

Best game song I've heard since "How You Killed Your Brand."

At one point during the video, I'll let you figure out when, I screamed out "XEROX!"

Rebecca Mayes should watch this and take a lesson in funny.

This video is hilarious and very true. Although I wouldn't say every OS sucks, I will say the OS wars suck. "Elitist" bastards trolling "elitist" bastards. Really no one knows what that word means anymore. No one.

I use both PCs and Macs and I've worked with Unix builds including Linux. I love computers, but I'm starting to resent the people that use them, and then claim superiority for their preference. I'm even writing this post on the Safari browser on an Asus.

Oh Wes Borg, you're bussing awesome. *grins*

I missed Wes doing this on Desert Bus, so thanks for this! :-)

AdmiralMemo:

Wes's Desert Bus version was better, still.

So the entire first page has NO-ONE who took the lyrics seriously.

+50 Faith in Humanity points :D
