My Nerd Year's Resolutions

My Nerd Year's Resolutions

Sorry, treadmill. Maybe next year.

3.X or 4E? I've got 3rd edition practically memorized, and refuse to change.

I'm disappointed in the lack of watch Top Gear, play Minecraft, and Get Flag. Sort that out, Elizabeth!

Heh, the "organize toys" item makes me wonder just how many toys someone can stash on one desk. If you have the original Star Trek toys/action figures too then I suggest putting Kirk and Picard side by side just to add some drama around the desk. :D

So nerf ambushes are frequent happenings at your offices? I wish I had that kind of workplace.

As for resolutions la nerd, I don't have many.

Finish unfinished games right about sums it up.
Also, I need to buy nerdy t-shirts.

Happy new year's everyone.

My new year's resolution is going to be the same 2048x1536 I always run. I can't be arsed to rearrange my icons to have a different one for a few minutes.

In all seriousness I'm going to replace the ball joints on my pickup truck, watch Top Gear, remark how blatantly TGUS is trying to copy Top Gear and failing miserably, and maybe even get into the air force.

This was one of the saddest short stories I've ever read, and worse because some were aligned with my own list. Was there a full list besides the Nerd stuff?

Also, don't skip reading comics to read Kavalier & Clay. You're going to want to keep a lot of that data fresh, Michael Chabon's not going to let you off easy with regards to allusions.

You guys have Nerf ambushes at meetings at The Escapist offices? You guys taking applications?

I watched the first episode of Sherlock. IT'S BRILLIANT. Best thing Martin Freeman has done in a while (even though he is generally very good). Also It's written by Stephen Moffat which will get the Who in You stirring ;P

I like this list. These are resolutions I could get behind.

My resolution is to spend more time educating people as to why John Lennon was more important to music than Paul McCartney.

my one reads: make a list for things to do in 2011

Great list. I should make one...hmm...And you know, I still haven't seen the last season of Lost...should remedy that.

My Nerd Years Resolutions include continuing blueprints for self sustaining magneto generator. Get one to work. Get it bigger to power a house. Get it smaller to power a car. Mass Produce. Profits.

Number two is remember to donate that chunk of cash when Jer is driving the Desert Bus next year.

I like the last one. I always wanted to be in a huge, all out fire fight with Nerf weapons. Don't suppose the Escapist could use a writer/proofreader type of person right now, could you?

<grin> Certainly a good list. Mine mostly involves the massive backlog of games I need to start and finish, and several books I need to read. Also need to check out the Raleigh area, since I may be moving there for work in the next few months.

Good man.

About #11: It's really good.

I love this list!

I also find it amusing that I seem to be able to spot every article Elizabeth Grunewald writes from the title alone.

Actually so do i... hmmmm...

9. Organize toys on desk at office. Data and Picard keep falling into each other, looks sort of...wrong.

wait y is it wrong? XD

14. Start reading Axe Cop. Try not to kill self because it was written by a six year old.

i just read the first episode and ROFL

20. Work on Nerf weaponry skills. Pathetic; need to defend self when ambushed in meeting, at desk, etc.

Working at the escapist must be tuff if you have to worry about getting ambushed :O

Solution to your D&D problem -- play a tabletop that actually focuses on roleplaying instead of making you die every 30 seconds and reroll a character who doesn't matter within himself.

(Bitter about my first and only D&D campaign, yes, where I never got to get past level 5 in two years and thus was stuck with lame spells and ultra-low HP.)

Great, this is the double post that was worse, so it gets retconed.

Might I suggest you get some Paul scale Nerf weaponry?

Thanks so much for that link to The Guild.

Am I the only who imagined the article being read by Mordin from Mass Effect 2, because of the way it is written it kind sounds like the way he talks. This is not a bad thing, it was pretty hilarious.

Really?
I heard Rorscach reading his journal.

Nerf makes a fine -line of nerf swords now. What could impress the office mates more than an elegant weapon from a more civilized age?

Might I recommend the Longstrike Nerf rifle? Easily my favourite gun, if a little unweildly.

Dissapointed that: Play Minecraft, Watch Top Gear, Get Flag wasn't on there.

It may look wrong, but it feels so right... ;)
