That's half right. It does take practice, a lot of practice, but there are people who start off with more advantage. It's like basketball; you don't have to be tall to play it, but if you are you have a great head start. OT: Being an artist myself, I always find looking at the sketch work of comic and cartoon art to be more interesting than the finished article due the insight it gives into the way the artist works. Also, great expression on the guy behind; pretty much what I'd look like under similar circumstances.
I'm just saying if you like it, do it. Don't get discouraged. No one's going to be DaVinci in a week if you know what I'm saying. While some people may pick it up more quickly, even those same people still require a lot of work to get to where they are. If you want to improve your drawing, take some classes when you can, and/or devote a few hours a week to just drawing. And most importantly, while it's good to have high expectations to push yourself, it's also good to have a realistic outlook so as to not get discouraged.

That confused passenger looks an awful lot like Teller... coincidence?
Is it possible to get a wallpaper version of this particular sketch?
This is probably one of the best strips to date, if you ask me. It's just awesome. XD I like how the squid is a legitimately funny part of the comic (a squid in a games store? Hilarious!) but isn't being overused. Most comics would take that character and shoehorn it in every other strip until it was unfunny and boring. Good job on keeping things fresh!
And so it begins... | |
