Trailers: Dead Island Trailer Pages 1 2 NEXT
Ouch! The ending there was very touching. The reverse image of helping someone up, is letting them go.
That makes me sad. | |
Saw this yesterday. Amazing trailer. Props to the team that used the footage so well. There's a recut version floating around that runs the entire sequence in chronological order (and forwards), it's nowhere near as compelling, but it helps clarify the scene if you get lost.
Everyone keep in mind what she did wrong; When running away from something NEVER look over your shoulder it reduces your speed by 40-60%.
Made me sad. =( | |
This is easily the greatest trailer I've ever seen. Nothing comes close in terms of the raw emotion of it. I've killed millions of NPC's in my years as a gamer and watched many characters I like die, but the death of this small family twisted my heart into a knot. In terms of substance, there's nothing new in Dead Island's concept. It's all about the presentation.
Not afraid to admit that I cry every time I watch this... Turned it off 1/3 of the way through this time.
That was a great watch. | |
The game definitely begins some serious foreshadowing while the two points of the video meet up. You know she falls from the building, then you find out she had turned, makes you realize she gets caught and bit.
It's finally nice to see a zombie game that has some emotion in it and doesn't seem so horribly farfetch'd. This looks like a game trying to push the barriers of games as an art medium to me and for that, I salute it...
Damn, that may just be the best trailer I've ever seen.
Damn, that's a good trailer, it'd be heartbreaking if the game ended up being a piece of shit after watching that. This trailer alone hypes up the game to me more than FF XIII's did.
Bah, horrifically over-the-top and so clearly trying to make us feel soemthing it goes right past and makes me cynical. A trailer like this is basically the same as jumping up and down waving your arms going 'look at how mature and horrific I am, look at how mature and horrific I am.' It makes me very, very aware that I'm watching something that someone put together, rather than a naturally evolving scene. Not moving, not poignant, just painful.
With the amount of talk this trailer is generating, i really hope the game is actually half way decent, on the other hand it will be fun to watch critics tear it apart if it turns out to be a bland run of the mill zombie game.
Very. It's not often that you come across a Zombie game that entices emotions other than disgust and fear, but rather sorrow as well.
OW Damn I think I just developed a heart in time for you to kill it....X( Seriously this trailer is just heart wrenching.
Wow. Been a long time since something like this made me cry, but damnit this was excruciating.
A) I think we can give what looks to be an 8 year old a break when it comes to FAST ZOMBIES. ;P
Yeah, as a trailer it's nothing new, but it's done really well. That being said I love the L4D franchise, so this sounds right up my alley. If they work it like Valve did (but better, as it sounds from reading the site) then I'll definitely buy it.
Possibly the best trailer I have ever seen, it made me want to play the game, made me interested in the characters and genuinely made me feel something.
Count my interest tickled :)
That was a helluvah trailer, for sure. I love those kinds of trailers/commercials where it's just soft music, and most everything else does the talking. Few if any words of dialogue spoken, just letting the trailer speak for itself. Let's hope the actual game is as compelling as the trailer, eh? Apparently, from the 9+ page thread in the Off-topic section, it's drawn some slight controversy from the gaming media, with some people (mainly gaming parents) saying that they're just drawing on the controversy of a dead child, and while I can understand that, I'd have to say the trailer was a success taken that into account. EDIT: And after watching the trailer a second time, again I say; damn. It actually makes it even more heart breaking because I realized that the little girl turned into a zombie, which is why she jumped her father and then showed why he threw her out the window. Techland, you better not fuck up. According to the Wiki article, it's supposed to be open world, 4-player co-op, with an emphasis on melee.
Can't wait to know the actual release date... Its probably gonna be Q3-4 '11
Great trailer, I'll keep an eye on the game; but a great trailer alone is not going to make me buy the game. On the other hand, Darkspore trailer was crap, but I'm going to buy it anyway.
I'm not sure what's making me more depressed: the trailer, or the fact that the game is going to be nowhere near as emotionally involved as the trailer? From the website: Features Cool, it might be fun. I played CoJ2 and it was pretty damn fun, but fucking damn it, I want a game like the one in the trailer! I want fighting to be gruesome and not fun, like a last resort and something emotionally taxing! I want to feel connected to the characters! This is just bland, now that I've learned more about it.
Great...... another zombie game....
Amazing trailer, lets hope the story/game holds up.
Amazing. That looks like a game worth getting to me.
Uuuu, Pegi turned 18, very nice.
Having a daughter, that kind of tugged at the heart strings a bit, it makes you wonder what kind of a painful decision it was for Dad to be bitten by his own daughter, and then knowing she plummeted to the ground outside...ouch. But the game looks great, whatever the team is doing, obviously, reading here, it is making an impact. Keep it up, cant wait to see more.
I second undead dragon king's point having killed millions of NPCs over the years and seen scores of cutscenes and trailers that were obviously supposed to garner that reaction - I can recall tearing at a trailer before. The fact the it was a zombie game made it all the more impressive to me just BECAUSE it's so overused - zombies are about as hard to take seriously as ninjas at this point and it didn't take away from the piece. Excellent work
After the end of the trailer I realized my jaw had dropped. It's hard to remember a more impressive trailer than this. Hope the game doesn't suck
Forget that this is even part of a game, and that it has zombies in it: this is a PURE freakin' movin' moment. Ok it may be made even more so because it's so unusual to see it outside of the big screen, but even '28 Days Later' or 'The Walking Dead' would be proud to have a scene like this.
I hope they can hold this feeling during the game, it shouldnt end up as just another zombie game.
