Jimquisition: How Sony Can Make it Up To You

Best Video so far, I loved the line about debuting a series on the escapist. BAZINGA!

What is the music in the video called?

I can see the capacity to be an excellent presenter there, but Jim still isn't doing it for me. It seems like he's trying so hard to establish a persona that he keeps forgetting to deliver content. His delivery has lots of character and fun* but I'm just not seeing the point yet.

*Jim may turn out to be the first Brit I've ever seen who swears less-skillfully than the average American. He's a bit like Movie Bob, in that his profanity tends to come off to me like an angry 13 year old trying to shock his mother with his first-ever dirty word. To swear with style you need to not always stress the swear. Don't call attention to it. It's the delicate filigree that adds a je ne sais pas to your put-down, not the fucking foundation. See, say that last sentence out loud. You should not put a stress on the word "fucking". It should be on the word "foundation". The put-down still works without the swear. Stress it, and you sound like you've worked yourself into such a fury that you're a hair's breadth from dropping a load in your trousers. Don't stress it, and you sound like an adult full of sophistication and class. Even when you're talking about video games and crapping yourself.

Let me see if I'm understanding this completely.

1) Allow me to play a certain 13 year old game on my PS3.
- ...which you could easily ebay yourself.

Stopped reading there and checked.

Still, as far as trolls go I'll give it a 6/10. I'd give it an 8, but jarring me out of the post to stop and check will cost you a point; you should try to make your trolls seem a bit more subtle so that the reader actually finishes the post and either believes you, or have at least a slight delay after reading your entire post before that 'My god, it's a troll!' moment of relevation.

Also there's the possibility that you'd actually try to defend your position by claiming that 'easily' and 'affordably' are two different things, and you never said it would be affordable. Such predictability will unfortunately cost you another point.

OT:
I'd like to see a Medieval game in which you start out the first level as the flesh and blood version, with an unbeatable boss. Hell, why not just make it a parody of Demon's Souls for the tutorial level?

Okay Jim, this one was much better. I will give this series a chance after all. Hope the fourth one continues like this one -- not the previous two.

Less atrocious ranting, audio was more clear, and video looked better*.
The calmer speaking helped a lot as well.

Doesn't hurt that you have me agreeing with you either! Especially the endless updates...

*At least in the high quality version, the video is sandboxed with black bars on all sides.
//Edit: only the HQ version apparently so this is probably not your fault.

I must congragulate the Jimquisition for saying something logical for once. Fuck. Those. Firmware. Updates.

Agreed. I remember Tomba. More accurately Tomba 2. I enjoyed playing it to be honest.

I played Medievil 2, I think.
Never finished it because everything was in Russian.

This show's not bad, I'll definitely watch it whenever I get the chance.

Sony can make this up to me...By giving a human sacrifice.
Or cross game chat.
Whichever is easiest.
Any money says we get a human sacrifice .

An improvement from last time. Though I must say, some people, like Yahtzee, are good at cussing. Jim, you are not.

wow worst video ever. first if all what does a company making medieval 3 have to do with sony. there is maybe ten updates a year which take like 2-5 minutes with australian internet connection. they could offer something like 3 free dlc choices on any game that would be good for everyone not just some whiny loser

Looks like you can get the game for $91 USD. Personally, I've paid more, but that game must be quite rare, I'd just never actually heard about it.

Actually, this was my honest opinion. I'm just a jerk by nature.

Nope. I know lots of people that have pretty restrictive incomes. I didn't bother to look up the price, and I should have done my research there. I guess it depends on how much work it takes to port a game over to the PS3.

My main criticism was the fact that throwing a couple of bones out will make up for PSN being down all this time. I find that a little condescending.

Yes. Number three. I would forgive Sony for everything.
And Jim is getting better. Looking forward to the next episode. :)

leviadragon99:
Huh.... well I'm pretty sure those three wouldn't solve all the problems, but at least the third would go some way to making amends.

Agreed, if Sony gave both of those games for free it'd be nicer than a bullshitty "Month of our premium service" which is, essentially, a marketing ploy...

Also, this episode was the worst so far since it was just "Jim" being a selfish prick instead of his previous "correct jackass" as he tries to sell himself. (Seriously, I don't care about either of those games in comparison to my Credit Card info. Chrono Trigger 3 "On Sony's Tab" might make a difference though)

Alright, alright... Gotta say, I was sceptical to this series for a while, but I can tentatively say that this show is growing on me. I liked this one, Jim. Good to tone down the act from the last two episodes; this one was fine, and keep up the good work!

This one was better, I was thinking about that Tomba game for years and forgot the name, and turbo unforgiven was pretty funny.

and that's strike three

goodbye, Jim
So far, I have yet to find something to enjoy in your videos, so I won't be watching them anymore

I'm glad it saved itself. This episode was actually quite entertaining.

Will also be looking forward to the next one.

Either Jim's getting better or my sense of humour is getting worse, i'll go with the former.

i'm not sure why i felt the need to comment this...

Ok, to be honest after the first two I had come to the conclusion, this series was absolute shit.

However for some reason i had decided that I'd watch this one . you know what... It was good. You've definitely found a groove that works for you. now some more polish and i can see this becoming something that would find it's way in my regular watched list.

I shall remain cautious but it looks like there is potential now.

Yeah... sorry. I hate to say anything negative about an internet reviewer. But I have to in this case.

I really hate the 'petition to remove this dude' thing. I do. I think each reviewer has a viewpoint to offer.

But, well. 'Jimquisition' is crap. There ya go. This series is not worthy of The Escapist's bandwidth. Your money and internets would be better spent on products like (in order of awesome):

1. Doomsday Arcade.
2. Extra Credits.
3. There Will Be Brawl.
4. Escape to the Movies/The Big Picture.
5. LRR/Unskippable/etc.
6. Drawn By Pain.
7. ANYTHING ELSE.

I mean, really. I see what this guy is trying to do. I've watched a couple eps. But seriously, there's nothing to distinguish him from any number of crappy internet 'reviewers', except that he is much more boring than most.

Sorry Jim. I really hate to say it. You're boring.

"The only way Sony could get any more bad press is if they released a video series on The Escapist."
I wonder how many people read enough comments on the previous Jimquisition episodes to know just how true that is...
That said... I think I'd agree to a point that they should probably tone down the firmware updates a bit, but I think the one that they're releasing as soon as the PSN comes back online is more than understandable, after all, they just updated the servers, and they have to ensure everyone changes their passwords and everything. It's not like it's just another pirate-blocker.

" I got 3 things Sony could do"
*holds up 2 fingers*

But anyway.. Nice! I love the more selfish approach, it gives him some nice character. But he needs to work on the backround and that desk thingy. Gj mate!

I gotta agree fully with Jim on this one.

I remember Toomba, that game was FUN!

I liked it better when your humor was really subtle. Too bad people thought it was a completely serious rant show.

For years I have waited for someone to recognize the awesome of medievil, I can honestly say FF 7/9 were only slightly better thanks to their length, first time I watched a jimquisition good stuff.

So you took someone who is currently less liked, make it a common enemy and thus making us symphasize with you?
Meh, not really impressive, but at least it was something new which I haven't seen somewhere else. I'll let this one slide ;)

I love you, Large man, I love you.

Everything you say is true

UPDATE

I don't like this man, and I don't like his videos.

I don't care if that's the way he likes it.

Wow, this show really has no reason to exist.
First two episodes was a repetition of already explored topics, and since he has no comedic value or special "twist" to the show, it's just plain boring.

Now we got to see him mentioning two games he like, and saying that constant updates can be annoying. Thrilling "rant" you got there Jim...

As has been said earlier; three strikes, you're out. Bring back Lisa Foiles, her top 5 at least had silly jokes and tight tops!

OK, That didn't completely suck. It wasn't terribly funny, but it wasn't complete shit.

Even better idea - 10 free download on PSN?
I wouldn't spend any money on PSN otherwise, so it's not like they're losing my custom. Rather, they're gaining it.

And I do agree about Medieval 3, too. Such a jolly little romp in the (undead) park. :D

good sir...Tomba/i is needed and it is needed now. new found respect for Jim

This video seems more like a fan boy rant than an actual way for Sony to make it up to their customers. While your last suggestion is decent it's seriously unlikely to happen. Yes updating my PS3 all the time is a bit annoying but it has never stopped me from wanting to play it and it and it's not that big a deal.

It looks like hardly any effort went into making these videos. Please escapist get this guy off your site he's just a loud and obnoxious fan boy, his opinions are dumb and meaningless and his videos are more like rants.

What is the music in the video called?

If you mean this one it's "Jesters of the Moon" from Final Fantasy IX (9)

for a moment I thought I was the only one noticing the music XD

And just after seeing this video, I immediately turned on my Playstation and started playing Tomba! for 3 hours! Damn, it's a great game!!! :D
