"Microsoft displayed everyone's Xbox Live avatars before their press conference. Sony's going to display everyone's credit card number."

Hahahha... Niicceeee...

Seriously though Sony is gonna need to pull out all the stops here... Though after Microsoft's one... The competition isn't too stiff right now.

But then again... You're really not gonna win any one over with more 3D stuff

And people say Nintendo's the one pushing the 3D gimmick...

Here's hoping for something interesting. Most likely new info on Uncharted 3, but what else? Sony will probably be the most... interesting.

Sly Cooper 4 would be great to see. Sony should have well rounded solid showing.

All I hope for is the return of the Playstation I know and love - FUCK THE 3D BULLSHIT I WANT MY PLAYSTATION AWESOMENESS!

I still remember playing my old Playstation games, the Playstation 2, I want to love the Playstation 3, I really, REALLY do. I just need some good games. (Killzone Doesn't count because I despise the series). Twisted Metal, Uncharted 3, inFamous 2, I need more. MORE DAMNIT.

Also - Fuck you move. Fuck you.

Good to see Sony being honest and sincere with everyone on the break in. Lord knows I'd have a hard time trying to make an intruder proof door when some criminal gang made it their goal to bash it in every day.

Sony are the good guys here. Opinions can go both ways on the Geohotz case whether they were right or wrong, but at this point anyone still for these hackers is stupid and should have their anonymity stripped from them like the hackers deserve.

-also Sly Cooper and 3D splitscreen WITHOUT the split part? Damn. If I had that kinda money I'd be all over that.

Was that a monitor that plays splitscreen without splitting the screen?
/nerdgasm
DO. WANT.

I thought of that splitscreen thing YEARS ago.

I should have patented it!

Wow, that different images thing sounds hella cool.

Susan Arendt:

This was exactly the right thing to do, and exactly the right way to do it. Tretton addressed the issue immediately, played it straight, and seems genuinely humble and apologetic for the issues that the security breach caused. Well done, Sony. Well done, indeed.

Observing Sony's actual behavior and statements is my preferred tonic after a mean-spirited Kohler joke, as well. ;)

Susan Arendt:
A PlayStation branded 3d display is "perfect for dorm rooms and bedrooms". Two people playing a game will be able to see unique images - not split screen. Two people, looking at the same screen, will see two completely different images. Let that sink in for a bit.

<jawdrop> Dreams coming true while I still breathe. I want a GT5 update with this one, kthxbai!

Susan Arendt:

Dear Sucker Punch: Thank you for not making the Infamous 2 trailer in 3d.

/me hands Susan a Portable Temple Massagebot.

Sly? SLY COOPER? Tell me you brought a new plushie!

Dust514 sounds like an interesting thing. I wonder how close the economy and info-war aspects of Eve brush up against this one.

If anyone can solve the issues I have with run-and-gun using Move, I believe Ken Levine might be that person's Diogenes-with-a-GPS-and-the-frequency-of-his-VChip. Yeah, that's right, obscure Greek philosophy jokes about video game designers. I'm here to make that classics education pay off in more ways than one. NO LOAN REQUIRED. You're fucking welcome.

Oh yeah, one last thing...

SSX. HELLZ YES.

'nuff said.

Sly fucking cooper, oh hell yeah. One thing, what platform did they say it was coming on.

The 3d tv with split screen showing one screen makes me really really want to shell out 500 bucks for the bundle.

The 3D TV revelation may be the thing that convinces me this whole business with the glasses is viable. No, not as a displayer of 3D images, but a displayers of two different images at once. Imagine if you could just watch two different programs/play two different games at once (would probably need the aid of headphones for this)? At least I hope that this is as awesome as it sounds.

3 hours into the coverage and the only good thing to come thus far is a fourth Sly Cooper game. :3

Seems they finally made that Uncharted movie they were after.

But seriously, 1-tap platforming? That's one of the worst ideas I have ever heard.

So did the companies who made it years ago. It's been in high end cars and on air planes for several years now.

They better bloody give some info on Kingdom Hearts 3. It's been 5 years since KH2 came out and the hype will slowly die if SE dont pop out some damn info on it soon.

Oh good we get to pay an extra $100 for the PSVita for living in Europe. I'll stick to my iPhone thanks.

aww you think Square is making KH3 that's cute :')

NGP (I refuse to call it Vita) for less than $300? Hell yeah! Ico + Shadow of Colossus this fall? Hell yeah!
The integration between PS3 and NGP looks cool.

In the last minutes of Vita coverage, I hear him talking about there being two models and think "please be $300 or less".
Then I hear $249.99.
GOODBYE, NINTENDO! I'M A SONY GAMER THIS COMING GENERATION! (unless Project Cafe will surprise me like this has)

I was excited about the Vita but then I was less excited that Sony signed an exclusivity deal with AT&T for the 3G version. I live in Canada but we almost never have cheaper plans than the States, so I can only weep at what will happen if/when the Big Three offers 3G contracts for the Vita.

At least the game lineup looks better than the 3DS. I do love how comfortable my 3DS but having no games really is a huge frustration.

well now that was a huge disappointment
maybe i'm too spoiled by sony goodness but this was just not that good

no butler
no good vita titles other than uncharted
and the worst thing... NO surprises

wellll... there is always gamescom

I'm surprised. I've never seen two such underwhelming conferences in a row.

The only really exciting thing from this conference is the Irrational game they hinted at for the Vita.

Also they only announced maybe five games that we weren't told about already before hand and three of those games we really probably saw coming.

Microsoft shot themselves in the foot by accidentally revealing EVERY NEW TITLE they had to show just an hour before the conference in which they would be revealed.

It really is up to Nintendo to have some big surprises.

vivster:

You saw the two-image TV thing coming? That certainly surprised me.

You thought of it cause Sony patented it years ago.

well yeah that technology from sony was already known(saw the sketches from the patent and all)
and some monitor is not really something i would expect at a gaming conference anyway

let's just all hope that sony prepared the big guns for gamescom and TGS
and tightens their secrecy so that we'll really get some surprises

Sly Cooper? In the words of The Murray; Radical! That "different image" tv thing is pretty freaking sweet too.

I have to say that this was a pretty good conference. Probably a "B" in my book.

PSN Apology: I like how Trenton talked with us directly, puts a face on the faceless corporation. I appreciate the apology, good way to start the conference by addressing the elephant in the room.
CinemaNow and Stuff: Don't give a crap about that, give me the games.
Uncharted 3: Purty.
Resistance 3: Equally purty.
HD ICO/SotC: Mmmmm, delicious.
NBA through Move crap: Don't care, move one por favor.
Starhawk: Looks really interesting, loved Warhakw when I first got it so I expect good things from it.
Sly 4: Hell, about damn time! I'm playing through the Sly collection and it's a blast of nostalgia.
Bioshock Infinite: Mmmmmm, tastes like diabetes! Levine is one of the few developers I truly respect, so if he's backing motions controls it'll probably bring something nice.
SSX: About fucking time! Fuckin' loved the SSX games.
NGP/Vita: Looks interesting, though I doubt I will buy it. The games look interesting, and the back touch pad thingamajigger could be used in interesting ways. Also, $250 is a great sweet spot for this handheld, much easier to swallow than "Five Hundred n' Nienty Nien YOU ESS DOLLARS!"

Also, loved the "Ridge Racer" jab that Trenton gave to Kaz at the end, very cute :3

Overall, good conference. Nintendo will probably "win" E3 tomorrow, but it's looking like a good E3.

3D 3D 3D! oh and 3D!

Ken Levine said motion controls were stupid. Sony waved a pile of money at him. Ken Levine says motion controls will be awesome in Bioshock Infinite.

hmm...

I wonder if they wave more money at him he will release Infinite for PS3 exclusively and take back everything he said about the PC being the best platform.

Also... Vita? I mean... I guess it's better than NGP, but it's still pretty stupid. Sounds like an energy drink. I wonder how stupid Project Cafe's real name will turn out to be? What's with these incredibly stupid names?

250$ for the PSV! Woooooo!

VIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIITA!

Two Powers into One

It's latin you uncultured swine.

I was more pleased than I thought I would be. Great apology that was right up front. I did miss Kevin B this year but I think given the recent events, having a smug spokesman on the stage would have turned a few stomachs.

Very interested in Sony's move to try and get more adopters for 3D. I wonder how much money they are losing on the 3D tv bundle. A very bold move that I didn't see coming.

I was impressed with the Vita's presentation. Love the price- groaned when I saw they tethered it to ATT. Noticed I wasn't alone with my consternation either. The Mod Nation use of the dual touch screens made me smile a mile wide- a great intuitive UI idea. I'm going to pick up MNR to check out what other ideas they have packed in there. Uncharted looked amazing and I'm eager to try the touch screen as well. With my disability there are days that using tiny buttons to game with just aren't going to happen so having the slower option to have Drake crawl/climb with a finger swipe works well for me. Little Big Planet looks like even more fun and again- I'm eager to see what they've done with the dual touch.

The Move still hasn't sold me but I'm coming around, I think. The 150 bundle will most likely be the tipping point. It's a good deal and we get a game as well.

All in all, not a bad presser. I've certainly seen worse today.

They actually addressed the outage at E3, and in the opening stages too. I was pleasantly surprised by that.

Also, the Uncharted 3 trailer is pretty sweet! All in all I enjoyed their presentation.

Oh man, I need that tv. I play co-op with my sister all the time, and now they tell me that we can both get the whole screen. It's magic, right?

Apology: I have to give credit to Sony for addressing the elephant in the room here. God knows that they have had a tough time recently, so the fact that they were willing to address the issue head on as oppossed to ignoring it is certainly worth something. That said, while I like that they are offering a free Streaming service, whether or not I get to actually get to use it is all based on the fickle whims of Canada's availability of services.

Uncharted 3: I haven't really been paying attention to any coverage of this game, yet I didn't pay attention with the previous two either and I still found them to be well made and really enjoyable games. I doubt that this one will dissapoint.

Resistance 3: If this will be closer in design to the first one as oppossed to 2, then I'll definitely give this a chance. That said, if this account of it is like what I've seen before, there isn't much to tell what this is really going to be like. I'll probably wait till release to see if its worth it.

HD Remakes: GoW doesn't really interest me, but the Team Ico remastered? Sign me up! SotC was an amazing game, one I'd more be more than willing to play again, and it would be nice to finally experience Ico!

3D Display: Whether or not I'd get this, I will say that it is certainly interesting! It would be really nice to stop Screen Watching, but hopefully if it works the way I think it does it would also mean that everyone has an equal and properly sized screen to play on!

NBA 2k12: Sports games aren't really my thing, and I doubt they ever will be. Maybe this interests a sports game fan, in which case all the more power to you.

Medieval Moves: Hearing about this it almost sounds like something from last year's E3 as something to introduce consumers to the technology, which is kinda hard to do seeing as how the Move has been out for almost a year now. Color me uninterested here on this one.

InFamous 2: Just played the demo the other day, and I think I'll pick it up. I my wait a bit, but it seems like it may be worth my time and money.

LBP2: Perhaps then would be the perfect time for me to actually pick the game up.

Starhawk: No real opinion here. Could go either way for me really into interested or not interested.

Sly 4: Oh god yes! Not only does this mean another Sly game is coming out, but with 2 famous PS2 IP's now on the PS3, won't be long till we see a new Jak game as well!

Vita: I'll still have to wait on the games, but I'll say this: 250-300 for a handheld/phone sounds like a reasonable price, something I thought was almost an unheard phrase at Sony. Of course, it also remains to be seen if we Canadians can get a better deal with the 3G provider

I didn't see Sly coming!
( <_> Though the fact I didn't see a master thief coming in itself is actually no surprise. )

Truly though, there weren't many surprises at all really. Still...Sly 4! :) :) :) :) :) :)
