E3: Modern Warfare 3

Well, it's certainly Call of Duty.

But I'm gonna be honest, I don't think they are even trying anymore. I can safely assume that the creative team behind CoD4 is completely gone.

It does look good, but it doesn't really seem to be challenging itself. I am interested to see how this story ends (and if the dislike bar means anything to Activision, this will be the last CoD game).

Hopefully Vince Zampella and that other guy's new team brings out something this year (because they definitely are developing something). Maybe they'll be the one's to break their own Multiplayer trend.

And I have absolutely no faith in Battlefield 3 seeing how the last 2 games DICE put out were almost complete disasters on Console.

Not a great year for FPS's but a damn good year for gaming.

Eh, being too much like Black Ops in design sounds like I won't particularly enjoy MW3's levels or presentation, but seeing as how CoD is basically the extent of my interest in shooters, I'm probably going to get it. Unless it turns out the demo for Battlefield 3 really sells me on it, but, for some reason, I've never been able to get into Battlefield games except on PC. On console, they're pretty much useless.

Same old shit. Piss off Activision. MW3's greatest use will be luring in all the camping and/or quickscoping asshats away from BF3.

I dont believe that CoD can be good, considering that the programmers who make the games, are not typically the guys who make the game balanced for multiplayer. with the loss of the real heads of Infinity ward gone, i cant believe that MW3 will be good.

The part where MW's gameplay really clicks for me is not in the heavily scripted seqeunces it focuses on, but in the more open ended spec ops stuff. Put you in a section of the woods with several pissed off militia and a rifle and saying "do whatever the hell you want" and the resulting unscripted mayhem is quite fun.

I really would like to see them try open world. This linear stuff gets old after four or five games of the same thing.

Complete mayhem and bombast, and lots of explosions? Good!

Jesus guys, when did these things become bad things in the gaming world?

when they happened in games that were supposed to be somewhat "realistic" I was watching
oh hell Ill just link it

the thing looks silly with explosions and hollywood bs, no part of it really looks realistic anymore, it just looks hollywood out the ass now

What pissed me off most about the demo most, it seems that Hanz Zimmer doesn't seem to be composing the music, Mw2's soundtrack was ball off the wall amazing and the music in the trailer seems like rehashed cod4 tracks.

I wasn't listening, but yeah the MW2 soundtrack was epic.

So basically 60 bucks for survival mode and regular MP because not surprising to anyone, the single player is a suck fest, THEN that subscription deal, PLUS the map packs. No thanks, with Skyrim, BF3, and many other games worthy of my hard earned money coming out this year, i'll be passing on this one, but ya'll enjoy the heck out of all that wonderful, host advantage, cheat and glitch fest :-)

Lol.

OT: There's nothing wrong with explosion porn. People just get this pissed off about Modern Warfare 2, and now myabe 3, being such because MW1 was so much More than Explosion porn. That's what irritates people, myself included.

Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe Activision knows FUCK ALL about marketing and just showed off the worst levels? Maybe it WILL be as awesome as MW1 and not explosion porn. If it is(which seems unlikely), I'll try it out.

Maybe every other level in the game will feature amazing story and 0 explosions. Completely Covert Ops stealth mission the likes we've never seen. Then again i will just wait for it to come out see someone else play it and know that everything i expect it to be is true.

Also i like to use this.

I'm not actually a Futurama fan. I just use it cause it's pretty much Rhetoric at this point.

Also, yeah that is exactly what I plan to do as well for MW3. Just watch a Let's Play of it. I mean it looks like it'll be just an On-rails shooter like MW2, so I see no harm done.

I just have to find one where a snot-nosed, frat boy isn't constantly yapping over it, because as much as I laugh at CoD, you don't talk over Hans Zimmer.

I just know one of my friends will buy it...well maybe that remains to be seen. I can't stand watching gameplay videos online unless it's trailers. And i agree. Talking over Hans Zimmer is a crime.

I read the words "bigger" and "louder", and I thought to myself "More obnoxious and even less innovative". Then I shushed myself and just said "If you don't like it; don't buy it"....that shut me up.

... trying to out micheal bay micheal bay

XD I really had to try not to laugh when I read that.

Personally, MW2's campaign left me unimpressed and unsatisfied. A game that tried to plaster the spectacle factor across a rather frail and fragmented story.

Enjoyed the multiplayer with my mates to well over 400 hours, but never picked up another iteration of the series. Don't think that's about to change. Reviews will probably sensationalize this one as it did CoD:BO, before looking back and saying... Hey... What the shit?

BUTT, that's my opinion.

That preview vid... Was that the video or the game getting choppy like that?

I think it was the vid, I mean they streamed it live but the game is still probably in late alpha early beta so I can see it still having some hiccups, one thing Im willing to give cod is that it knows how to do a good frame rate

At first I thought there were 2 reasons to buy this game--every one of my friends will have it and Survival. Now my friends are showing more support for Battlefield 3...
Will Gamefly for Survival mode sometime in the 'winter game drought'.

How the eff was BC2 a disaster on consoles? For a spin-off it was pretty damn awesome.

Watch Respawn Entertainment go with EA, and merge with DICE. Respawn will work on the singleplayer and co-op, with a 14 hour singleplayer experience that had the perfect mix of plot and action like CoD4, without scripted events (but for consistency a lack of scripted events means you can take either a flight of stairs or an elevator, and tanks will move as if manned by AI) and an exemplary co-op with 10 chapters (each chapter having 6 levels like Spec Ops), where you can use killstreaks, choose a loadout, and have 6 possible players, each will play as one of the team (a Mexican-standoff Sudden Death-ish match in the beginning will quickly choose who will be the one to man the AC-130). DICE will work on the core multiplayer, innovating modes and taking cool modes from other games, like Oddball or King of the Hill. It would also be super-balanced, have ded servers on consoles, and will allow 32 people.

That sounds reasonable. I mean, if you let Respawn Entertainment have 3 years of focus on only singleplayer and co-op, and let DICE have 3 years of focus on only multiplayer, it would be pretty damn awesome.

Oh, and get Croteam for creative development and id for engine development.

Shitty clunky controls, severely weakened graphics, maps made smaller, shoddy hit detection.

Plus the single player was horrible, which kinda sucked because Bad Company 1 had a great single player.

Or not, because the last time Dice worked on multiplayer for a company they did a half-assed job and it ended up also being terrible.

Over half the people from Respawn were responsible for CoD4's multiplayer, something that even Dice copied some core ideas from.

It would be the biggest waste of talent I'd ever see in a video game.

Dice does what there good at, a giant open world battlefield with lots of different vehicles.

Let the old IW do what they're good at.

Yet again, IW is responsible for the smoothest running engine on Consoles. There's a reason why the Call of Duty series has lasted as long as it has. Because it feels right in your hands.

Graphics and hit detection weren't bad, in my opinion. The controls take some getting used to, though.

Doesn't that mean they were also responsible for MW1's singleplayer, which was epic in all aspects other than length? DICE can't do singleplayer for shit other than the humorous BC1, so let them do the multiplayer if there's a Respawn/DICE merge for a game.

That's what she said.

Yeah, if you're saying just because BC2 is 5 undistinguishable frames slower than MW2, then MW2's engine is better, then I LOL at you. Frostbite is admittedly better than id Tech 3, coming from a person that places MW2 as one of their top 5 games of all time.

. Maybe Activision knows FUCK ALL about marketing

Not a chance in the world. One of the main reasons that the MW series sells so goddamn well is because of the excellent marketing.

Black Tuesday looked pretty cool but that other level looked exactly like a shit copy of that level in MW2 were it started as you scuba-diving and then you got out and snapped 2 guards necks.

Bowling's words on the merging of core multiplayer aspects (killstreaks, emblems, etc. etc.) with Nazi zombies with Spec Ops were pretty cool though. Survival will be the only reason I'll be Gamefly'n that shit.
