So many cliches. All of these SW- TOR trailers seem to be nothing but a long list of overused scenes and cliches. Still looks neat... but i feel the game isnt likely to ever be nearly as fun/cool as the trailers.
He is clearly a Master, doesnt seem to be a skilled force user so maybe he trained in Lightsaber combat? This would explain his profficiency with different types of Lightsaber? No? He used, what... Force Push a couple of times and Force Wave once? Yoda is a Master of the Force and even he knows a couple of tricks with a Lightsaber, I dont see why this guy wouldnt know most of the tricks with a Lightsaber.
Where did he say he trained his whole life with the art of a single lightsaber? I must have missed that part?
OK, so the storyline is about these people, a Jedi, a trooper, and a smuggler, who... DO YOU CARE? ITS AN MMO! WHO BOTHERS WITH THE 'PLOTLINE' IN AN MMO?
Bull! Those stats are way too high... HAX!
Why cant it be an homage to the original instead of being a rip off exactly? If they had tried to sneakily slip it in there then yeah, ripoff. The fact that they openly displayed how similar the two were means they were paying an honor to the original scene.
Great riffing on Not-Solo's out-of-place hat, 'The Great Darkness' and the perplexing numbers of lightsabers. Speaking as a SW nerd, more is hardly ever better in that category except to wow the easily impressed. And some of the books and comics have 'lightwhips' if you believe it. A circular 'light-chakram' wouldn't be so out of the question except for the fact that it would look utterly stupid. Maybe if you could throw it? So... how does this have any bearing on you whatsoever? Do you play the tutorial as the lady Jedi on Korriban? Are she, the Not-Clone Troops and Not-Solo the instructor/newbie quest givers? What? Think I'll wait and watch a bit before investing any money into this. Patience is a Jedi virtue.
I liked the part where they said 'this has nothing to do with the actual games story because its an mmo' well not exact same words but you get the idea. Only thing i like about this game is the cgi trailers and even they are flawed and nonsensical at times, 'i'll die but ill look cool doing it!'. Too bad that the actual gameplay is just another generic mmo with lightsabers instead of swords, tbh i prefer swords.
HEATHEN! KOTOR is the greatest Star Wars story ever told! The original trilogy is good and all that but the story of Revan is better in every way!
"No... This is only the beginning". Really now. I bet the other Sith guy killed him just for using a lame cliche line like that.
SW has just become far to cliche. It's been trivialized, over hyped, fucked up the ass, and beaten into a fine paste. Same score because i must be among the few that thinks it can get old. Another thing how did his helmet lose all grip to his face when it got sliced on one side, in the middle, and having not sliced any connectors holding in place? Just so many tired old cliches. Great episode though. Finished patching up the gash on my leg, sat down and my day got a lot better when i saw this.
I don't care that the amount of cheese in that clip could probably feed a village for years. That. Was. Epic!
Great Unskipable, silly cinematic.
"I hope you like archeology" Yes, actually, I do. "Get off my space lawn" was gold :D
"Now I have two lightsabers!" HAHA This episode had me laughing... and also sad that Star Wars isn't dead yet...
Best Unskippable ever fellas!
Because they're well known and recognizable, which serves to inspire that good old feeling among the SW fans. But do not despair, I've got good news! There's some 6 hours of original music in TOR alone - on top of the previously known scores. And no doubt the patches/expansions will build on it further :)
I wonder why they didn't make a three ps3's joke about the lightsabers..
LOL the "not" part jokes were amazing. Gj
You do know that the Rule of Two came after the Old Republic era? About 2.000 years later?
You know what ? | |
I'm a fanboy (or girl!) and I think this game looks like.... Lucas making a shitton of money for old rope
Great episode. Also, I think that's the first time I've seen one -- and I think I might be hooked. I'm glad I'm not the only one that thinks double-ended light sabers are becoming way too common.
Pretty much everyone who survived that cutscene is a major NPC of some sort, even Not-R2-D2. The short version is that's the setup for this era of the Star Wars Universe. The actual game starts much, much later like 40-50-odd years later. Here's the thing everything in the game is pretty much designed to remind you of something of Star Wars (old and new) because it didn't the fans would cry out "It's not Star Wars enough." Fans like KoTOR/SWTOR for one major reason: Lucas has little to no direct involvement in it. So it's less jarring and arbitrary than the Prequel/Clone Wars stuff.
As much as I've grown to love SWTOR based on all the stuff that's been relayed to me about it (where the Escapist is horribly lacking, I must say as an aside), I must admit this trailer didn't quite appeal to me at all. It really went a bit too overboard. I loved the Decieved trailer though...it had just the right amount of flair, crazyness and most of all - stellar pacing. This is just...eh...it's not bad, but it sure won't be all that memorable for me. Puns were awesome. Though yeah, ancient Sith kinda all looked like Satan (you'd know such from the lore but yeah, whatever. Let's conveniently ignore it because everything other than the first two movies sucks anyway, amirite?) space cowboys sure don't need to look up in space when their ship instrumentation tells them all the info? And the last report put development costs below 100 million dollars actually but eh sure...quote the Louse all you want even after his co-worker later admitted on his very same blog that they didn't know *anything* about SWTOR at all. All in all a fun episode. More triple lightsaber comments please. :)
why does the cowboy sound like marcus fenix from gears of war???
Wait, no One Piece rip when it came to the three bladed combat? For shame... And no Firefly reference over that Not-Solo space cowboy? You guys disappoint me... Ok, not really. I loved the episode, and the trailer is absolutely hilarious. $200 million, eh? Well, it's...clearly showing. But hey, Han Marston ftw!
Yeah no, Darth Bane set up the Rule of two, this is long before him there are tons of sith running about in this setting. The episode had its funny bits, but in truth I am going to play this game, Bioware is the best company out there for games these days, they make great stories, compelling characters, and this is something in their expertise in RPG's. I am sure all of that will make for a great game, KOTOR 1 was a great game I still replay from time to time, Mass effect 1 and 2, Dragon age origins are also from Bioware so they will be able to handle this well, I have no doubt.
Uh, why did that guy have a gun? He had clearly been arrested, he was under armed guard.
And I shall name my first character James May in thine honour.
So... While the spiky-head jedi was barely able to hold his own against one sith, he's able to kill two when dual-wielding. If a jedi gets that much stronger with two blades, why doesn't he just make two and be unstoppable without stealing his apprentice's?
Especially considering most of the ME1 team was pulled to work on this, including Drew Karpynsh,
Okay this is just making me want to play this right now even more! WHEN WILL FILEPLANET GET BETA KEYS DANG IT!
Ooh! Force Burned! :) OT: I really like the Old Republic cinematic stuff. Far better than the Clone Wars that's been made. This episode was, however, amazingly funny.

He wasnt a trainee... there is always a Sith Master and their Apprentice, both are still considered Sith Lords. Its set up like that so that the next leader of the Sith will always be stronger than the last. Its called the Rule of Two.
So he was actually fighting 2 Sith Lords and he bested the weaker one, thats why the Apprentice killed his Master, because he knew he was more powerful and it was time for him to take over as Master.
I... I know too much about it, but its interesting as fuck to me! I cant help myself!
