Spider-Man vs Twilight

We couldn't help but notice a certain outcry from our fans about the Twilight books in our background. You think those books are full of teen angst? This week the boys pose that Spider-man might just be even worse! Post your choices below or on twitter!

BEST EPISODE EVER! Couldn't stop laughing. I think Twilight's angst overseeds Spider-man.

One of your best. Hilarious.

Silly straws in angsty half empty cups?
it made me giggle!
and I have a question, Does that mean Kyle's Birthday is May 4th?

That was a fun episode

Christ, FINALLY Kyle gets a win. And while defending Twilight (sort of) no less. That is impressive.

Also, the Real Quote of the Week:
"Don't be glass-half-empty, be glass-half-SPIDERMAN!"

I like how "I'm on fire for hours." is less being burned than "I was on fire for a few minutes then I'm not anymore."

:P

But yes, good episode.

You got rickrolled with the angst in Spider-Man 3!

Though I don't think he was actually angsty in that part of the movie. He started acting like a Quentin Tarantino version of a Noir protagonist.

the line 'this isn't that silly' took me completely by surprise. Hilarious.

This was a good one.

Wow... these guys really have a show...

Agreed, I had no idea where they were going from the title, but this was a worthy discussion.

Well played, gentlemen!

Even if Spider Man 3 is somehow more angsty than the whole of Twilight, the Twilight story hs far more problems than just angst.

How was "Don't be glass half-empty, be glass half Spider-Man!" not the quote of the week?

Spidey wins. I don't even need to watch the episode.

Twilight is just a pale shadow of anything Spidey's ever done. Including the really shit parts (One More Day, Spidey giving birth to himself, Schroedinger's Aunt May)

When Twilight grows up, it might just get angsty. What Twilight is, is whiney. Like a little baby demanding a full life when it's already had two.

Why was "Glass Half Spiderman" NOT the quote of the week?

Wow how did he manage to win that? That's really impressive

Be glass half spider-man is my new words to live by.

Didn't Twilight end on a relatively happy note, everyone finds soul-mates and lives happily ever after with their tonnes of meny, whereas in Spiderman he ends having his best friend die, his Fiance break up with him, he lives in a poor crappy flat, alone, with a crappy job, and his Superhero identity is still reviled and feared. Why wasn't that mentioned?

I can't believe I'm about to stand up for Spider-Man 3, but:
1) Best friend dies. I'll grant that.
2) Mary Jane was never his fiance in the films, and the ending looks more like reconciliation after a break-up than a break-up itself.
3) He lives in a crappy flat, yes, but probably not alone given the above point(well, in the sense that he likely does have a girlfriend he can invite over), and he received a desk job at the Bugle earlier in the film, so he's not exactly got a "crappy" job.
4) People feared and reviled Spider-Man? Is that why the news reporter and anchorman were almost in tears when Parker was being killed by Sandman and "Venom"? Is that why all the crowds were cheering for him when he swung in to fight the villains? "Venom" was reviled, but recognised as "something else", rather than Spider-Man.

I don't think Kyle knows what "angst" means.
Everything he mentioned about Twilight, was NOT angst!

Depressing, emo, blahzay... That's not angst.

What Spider-man goes through on a daily basis... That's angst!

Chris hit the nail in the head. I saw Twilight and thought "Hooray! These books will be a fun, sexy romp in the world of vampires and the occult." Instead, I got a poorly written moral treatise on abstinence, with vampires. Now I'm filled with angst. Maybe the angst power of Twilight lies not in the books and films themselves, but in their ability to inspire angst in others.

First one of these I've seen, and I got to admit that it was a pretty good one. Now I want that Twilight Sparkle poster though. It made me lol quite a bit.

You totally missed out on the best line of the episode.

Don't be glass half empty, be glass half spider-man.

Nice episode, but nothing can ever beat Twilight in angstiness. And gayness.

I think this is your best work yet on this show and usally I love the work you guys do on this show. :D

I needed a good laugh and by god I got it thanks to you guys and glad to see that Kyle finally managed to get a win in for once!

Just wondering but is Drinking Games still up and running or is that sadly gone now? D:

Congrats Kyle, you seemed to be suffering a bit of a losing streak lately.

Love you guys.

P.S.
Isn't Drinking Games supposed to be on today as well?

Twilight is less angsty because the plot justification for the angst is less contextually valid than in Spiderman.

I can't take a discussion seriously where one of the debaters says Spiderman 3 is a good film

Until Douchetenant Angstmander Andrew Garfield comes out and jizzes all over anyone's hope of ever seeing an entertaining Spiderman movie again, Twilight is clearly the winner. I have no idea why Kyle supposedly won this one.

Especially considering the Kyle lost it at 'hot sex'. Which was an amazing and clearly accurate ace in the hole for Chris: nobody bones in Twilight. They even talk about how they don't bone, because apparently you only get super powers in that universe if you are incredibly gay and refuse to express any attraction for any person who is not the same sex as you.

Well, I've go to say that Spiderman goes through genuine angst. His father figure died because of his pride. That alone is enough to throw somebody into angst, however it turns out there was absolutely NOTHING he could have done to prevent Uncle Ben's death as it was nothing more than random violence. That made his guilt trip EVEN WORSE because it showed him how absolutely powerless he was over the whole ordeal.

Twilight on the other hand, like everything else it attempts to do can't even get the angst right. Why is the girl angsty? her stepfather plays baseball? She moves from Arizona(?) to Washington(?)? All the guys think she's cute? much like the kids who like Twilight, she has no idea why she's angsty other than to be angsty. Vampire boy? he's kinda understandable. being 17 sucks, and he's perpetually 17. He's been the random angsty 17 year old for the past 200 years or so. I'm certain that after that much time of being angsty, he's just gone a little crazy. Wolf boy well, the girl he likes is in love with another boy. That's just typical highschool, so that's kinda understandable as well.

Because "That's not angst, Kyle... that's not."

That was the best No Right Answer debate yet!

Fuck, he's right; I do love the Lizard.

Spider-man also accidentally killed his first girlfriend.
