GeorgW: A new series is always nice, but, well, I still don't know what it's about.
haxxorzd00d: Hey guys, chief video-makey-guy for Escapecraft here. :D
I can give you a little heads-up on what to expect from the series: we're a variety show, so we'll be doing some machinima-type efforts - comedy, parody and such - as well as general Minecraft info/tutorials (with a humorous twist), and coverage of events on the Escapecraft server such as building contests and survival challenges.
Basically, anything Minecraft-related, with a focus on our community. You'll soon see a cast of recurring characters appear throughout our videos.
And of course, we're an actual Minecraft server (server IP: escapecraft.com), so feel free to pay us a visit and see what we're all about - stick around and you might even get a spot in a future video!
-Haxx
This explains things, however. Might have been a nice idea to inform the masses of this in a more direct form, but I'm sure it'll all become clear in time. This seems like a fun idea and could make for a great series, I am however cautious to the idea that anyone can just join the server, what happens when people interfere with planned events?
EDIT: I forgot, will this show come out every Saturday? Cuz that would be awesome, nothing on the Internet ever comes out during the weekend.
Yeah, this trailer wasn't originally made with a video series in mind; in fact I made this before we had any plans with the Escapist, simply as advertising for our server to put on Youtube. It's ended up being an introduction to the video series instead, and I guess it does seem a little odd without context.
As for people joining the server, we're actually a pre-existing Minecraft community - this series is just something new we're trying out. New players won't be interfering with video production (unless they're invited); they'll be building houses, killing mobs, and doing whatever else it is Minecrafters do.
Oh, and I'm not entirely sure (I don't handle the formalities, I just make the videos ^_^), but I don't think we'll be airing on Saturdays. Today's introduction was arranged to coincide with our one-year anniversary events. I assume we'll start proper some time next week.

Ah, that explains things. Still, if this series takes off, you may find yourselves with a lot of new players, possibly with the specific intentions of interfering with your productions. Beware!
Also, too bad about the Saturday thing, but not at all unexpected. The folks at the Escapist HQ need their weekend as well, but still, one could always hope.
Garchomp445: By the way, how do we join the server? Is it based on this site, or does it have its own forums?
Head to escapecraft.net, which are our forums.
escapecraft.com is the server IP.
Oh and with regards to the posts about previous map wipes, those had been because at the time we lacked the capability to transfer these when significant changes occurred (Halloween update and soon after the SMP Health update).

Thanks! That's very helpful! Now I'll have three servers to choose from.
Interesting... At one moment i though it was some sort of commercial to get more people to the forum, but seems like i was wrong. Still, I'm looking forward what people can create/think of. Hopefully it'll be interesting.
hi iv got a question. i tried to get online but every time i log in it says log in failed and when i try to connect to a survur it says user not a premium. (iv had the game since alpha and i bought it) it only started once 1.8 came out. is anyone else have this problem and while im on it is the survur updated for 1.8?
MajorDolphin: The server was interesting when I checked it out a few months ago. The problem, walking for 10 hours to find a place to build after navigating the many many portals to the various worlds. Maybe I'm just a noob.
I've had no trouble getting places, it takes me only a minute or two to get to my house from the Hub.

Then I must have been doing something wrong. :) From the hub and to the zone/world I chose, I had to walk and walk just to find a free area. There was plenty of open space but it was all taken. It could have been the world I was in. I was just trying to find a non-pvp world that wasn't overly populated or built.
TheKwertyeweyoppe: eacapecraft is the name of a series of adventure maps, in fact a lot of the 'puzzles' video was from escapecraft2.
Both the servers and the puzzle maps were named Escapecraft independently of each other. People were complaining about being mislead and not being able to play the maps on the server, so the compromise was to put the maps on the server.
Sn1P3r M98: I lost interest in the server when it got switched over to the 3rd new world, but maybe I'll have to come back...
Well the good news is that we do have the first two worlds still... not open at the moment due to issues... but we hope to have them back up. And we have things figured out now that we don't need to get rid of maps or anything.
Instead of coming up with more and more content that is not good at all, why not try paying those that are proven to be good, keep some viewers, and some reputation maybe?
Constructive criticism : There is WAY too many lets play's or non lets plays based on mine craft already for this idea to work.
It makes me wanna play Minecraft. Too bad I couldn't possibly be creative enough to know what to build. Plus I'm pretty sure most of the mobs would scare me.

This isn't a let's play. How about you go to the server yourself?
did anyone else think it was a little bit in poor taste and a LOT bit too relevant for them to start off with a joke about not paying someone for their work because they'd already spent it all?
i didn't see any comments about that, but it haunted me throughout the rest of the video. had it been an unofficial jab, i'd probably take pleasure in the satire, but being official... it made me feel the way i do when i get teabagged in Halo.

Hey, Haxx, think I could get invovled... you know... Founder of Central. D:
We never had rules about where you could build... unless you mean not building outside of Central? And even then that was just 20 blocks around the city...
I mean the thing where you had to build inside a tiny cube of dirt inside central and touching anything else got you an automatic warning.
You could and still can build out in the Wild or other towns... In the wild you could but any size. Perhaps you need to read the rules better?
I understood them perfectly well. Building random structures out in the uninhabited wilds would still have been a complete waste of time though.
