Critical Miss: Deus Ex - Sucrose Revolution

He didn't have the right augmentations for that.

Yeah, I read all those lines in the character voices... I've seen too much Deus Ex: HR recently. xD

Stay out of the womens bathrooms, but hey help yourself to EVERYTHING that isn't nailed down?

Isn't that the way the real world works?

Stop beating down on Jensen already, sure he's a blatant Dirty Harry rip-off, yet he's still more complex than 99% of all gaming protagonists, thus he deserves better. The first time wasn't funny, neither is it this time. Pointing out something obvious does not make you funny.

Is this the mating call of the fanboy i hear? I think it is!

No, I just don't like Critical Miss and the unfunny "humor" she (they?) produce(s?). Jensen was hands down the best thing about DXHR. Even though I enjoyed it a lot, there were numerous flaws that got in my eye, such as terrible and absolutely convoluted endings. So I am hardly a fanboy, since I do not fit into a definition of fanboism.

hah, does he actually get called out for going into the women's restroom at some point in HR? I was waiting for it to happen thanks to the original, but no one ever reprimanded me :(

Ask yourself: do I feel but-?
Well? do ya, Punk?

Edit: I'm sorry, you didn't ask for this.

I also love DX:HR but also know I can find the humor in some of the absurdities of it as well without getting upset. That's what makes Rifftrax so great some of my favorite movies they have done are of movies I really like like the Dark Knight, Lord of the Rings or the Original Star Wars movies. All movies really enjoy but realize some parts are a little absurd or silly.

A joke about the ability to go into the opposite gender's toilets, steal things and throw vending machines and apparently they're hating on a character?

Gee, sure is fanboy around here.

That's not quite my point. My point is actually that games are full of absurdities like this. As I already said: pointing them out does not make for a funny joke. My bar is set high when it comes to humor: I read all of the Critical Miss' comics and I never laughed once and really Jensen was more of an excuse to summarize what I think about the comic in general. A last drop that made a bucket overflow, if you will. Sorry, I just don't get why people like it.

You read ALL of a humour comic you don't even find funny? Eh?

I guess you're one in a million. Even my girlfriend who never plays games finds Critical Miss hilarious (albeit sometimes a bit of explaining is needed). You're welcome to your opinion, although if you don't find the the blend of critical thinking, satire and occasional well placed dick jokes that CM offer funny, than I guess you are just deviant from everyone else and we probably won't find humour in the things you like either.

EDIT: That's not an invitation for you to rant on about all your favourite things. Was merely making an observation.

Ragsnstitches:

Yeah, call me a weirdo, but I like to double-check on my assumptions.

Well I'm not here to defend myself either, just to make an opinion heard. Seriously, it had to see the light of day, sometimes it just has to. That's the sole reason I write: to get something off my chest.

Yeah.... no.
I like critical miss and all, but itīs really not as good as you make it sound to be.
"Blend of critical thinking, satire and occasional well placed dick jokes" my arse.
Itīs mostly pretty run-of-the-mill observational humour with a REALLY good art style.

Never laughing ONCE at any CM is pretty weird, but you make this stuff sound like the second coming. Which is isnīt.
That would be Jesus.
Just wanted to let you know.

After a 143 separate strips, you're well past double checking... just saying.

Had it been that many already? You're right: it's more than just a double-check. It's the law of large numbers.

Im probably missing alot since i didnt play HR.

However, just remembering from the original deus ex, it was always odd how you walked into the women's restroom and they just kinda stared at you.

Still, vending machine kill sounds like it should be an achievement.

Yes. I got called out by the tech support guy after going in a women's restroom at Sariff's.

Not true: there was that secretary that would rat you out to Manderley if you did enter the women's bathroom. Manderley would scold you for this thereafter. Coincidentally that same secretary was the one stealing from the armory. I don't have to explain the degree to which I enjoyed that little twist.

Write all you wish. The internet is nothing if not a buffet of angry letters written to people who will never read them. Although I find it odd that you've waited this long to make a statement about how you don't find this strip funny. For most normal people it shouldn't take more than a 10 strips at most. You weren't around at the time, but there use to a show on The Escapist called 'Game Dogs', most people didn't like it from the first episode but it lasted two seasons, and it wasn't until the end that many people had come out and said they never liked it. I just find it odd that it takes people so long to complain, it's even worse when they complain every week (which I sincerely hope you don't do). [/quote]

The critical thinking observation comes from the articles attached to the comic. If you read Jonathan Gray Carter's texts, you can see behind the satire there is a clear level of intelligence and a grasp of social and philosophical constructs that isn't apparent in other comic artists even if it isn't always reflected in the comics. Other than that satire and well placed dick jokes speak for themselves. So I don't see how I was too off, and I wouldn't compare a comic strip to the banal nature of the second coming.

EDIT: (Fixed quoting mistakes)

You have to go in one before you speak to Pritchard after the first mission proper http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AbtwVdC-oTQ

And as for ragging on Jensen, I find webcomics don't generally run multiple comics on the topic of a game the writer doesn't enjoy. These last two seem like the epitome of affectionate parody to me.

I thank you for your permission to express my opinions in a way I like them. As to why I waited this long... Let's just say that Critical Miss isn't exactly a priority in my life. Also you'll probably never hear from me on this subject again, unless something extraordinary happens.

Also, I think I already explained the reason behind this delay.

Is that a Muse reference?

True... but than Critical Miss would run out of material...

He never asked for your defense.

In seriousness, people still find this funny. Its actually quite funny in how the game treats Jensen. There isn't anything wrong with him except what you can make him do (and that godawful voice). Its the way the game reacts that's the basis of this joke, not Jensen.

Pfft, they never notice me... I mean, the NPCs never noticed mes as adam sneaking into their washroom... in the game.

MISSED OPPORTUNITY!!!

The vending machine should have read "Lemon-Lime".

Or maybe its someone with a reasonable complaint about the constant barrage of cheap jokes from a mormally funny strip. You dont need to tell anyone if someones an actual fanboy its generally easy to work out.

You can't pick up vending machines inside Sarif Industries.
God guys, get it right.

I saw a really good Dues Ex HR comic the other week

Adam:-to desk Sargent- hey can I go into the employees only of the police station?
Desk Sargent: Sure why not
Adam: err can i go into the morgue?
Desk Sargent: yeah why not
Adam: can i wave my gun's around in a threatening manor?
Desk Sargent: I can't see why not
Adam: Can i help myself to things that clearly belong to other people?
Desk Sargent: pfft sure, it's a free country right
Adam: Cool, can i use a computer?

the next panel is a screenshot of the game, tonnes of policemen are shooting at Adam.....that one makes me chuckle...probably didn't do it justice here
