Saints Row: The Third Hands-On

Saints Row: The Third was developed on the principle "If it's fun, lets put it in."

Pre-ordered a long time ago.

Only three concerns:

Can my Saint have glasses? (Because it was a bugger to get them in SR2)
Is it a Decent PC Port? (Because if it is...GOTY)
Did they really have to do the playboy bunny ad crap?(Seriously Volition...that's EA's dump)

It looks catharsis-tastic. Who hasn't wanted to gun down innocent bystanders from a rickshaw being pulled by a gimp?

I'd leave a proper comment, but i don't wanna get my fanboy juices all over the forum >_>

Eh, i'll do it anyways: OH. MY. GOD! Can't wait for this to be released, and to think it hits stored the same day as Revelations. I'm gonna be split in two when i get home after picking up my games that day!

i see what you did there SR3 :3

Between Skyrim and Saints Row the Third I'll have enough gameplay to last me a few months.

All of my free time will be gone in November. I'm not complaining...

In the name of Zeus start the video D:

edit: oh there we go.. HOYL SHIZZ THIS LOOKS AWESOME

... WAS THAT A FUCKING HELICARRIER!?

Right, already pre-ordered...

Mmmm this is a Winning game, Charlie Sheen style. I think this will go down as my favorite game of the year. Perhaps all time.

it's an amazing game and one of the best of the year but sorry Skyrim is out 4 days before it, won't be buying SR anytime soon :(

This looks totally insane, in the best way possible. And that Helicarrier would look great in Saints purple...

In the first trailer with the audio waves, saying "I'm back, bitches!" Is that meaning that Saints Row is back, or is it a reference to some character? I've played some of the first and all of the second, and I don't recognize anyone like that.

I knew I should have pre-ordered this before I lost my job. Ah, well.

@the_root_of_all_evil: Volition recently put up a note somewhere with a picture of someone working on a PC version, with the caption: "We told you it wasn't a port." I'm pretty sure the PC version is being developed entirely on its own, and it's not actually a port. Which could be good, but to me Saints Row will always be a console game.

Though, I have been playing GTA: San Andreas on Steam lately, so ... who knows.

I remember reading in an article in Game Informer that one of your new ally characters in The Third is a pimp who has had surgery to auto-tune his voice, I'm assuming those are some of his lines.

OT: If only I had the money I would pre-order this, but at least I have nearly a month to scrape the cash together.

Above and beyond the call of Battlefield... 3, eh?
I kinda like how they're making fun of other games. Somehow fits SR.

It was just the horrible port they did on SR2. Had it been done properly, that game would have kicked GTA into touch. As it was, it only rivalled it.

But things like using Ctrl and Shift to move left and right though. That's just derp.

That's because they contracted out the SR2 PC port to another company. Never a good idea.

This time around, they are doing it themselves alongside the XBOX/PS3 versions, so there's a good chance it will be up to (or exceed) the console versions.

Oh my god, are you serious? Man. That's just weird. I mean, they're not even side by side or anything.

Aha, I found it.

Sounds cool, I'm just glad I wasn't missing a character from the first two games.

WHY do all GOOD games have to be released within ten days of each others!? GAAAAh

Mailman:
Between Skyrim and Saints Row the Third I'll have enough gameplay to last me a few months.

I'm just going to play Saints Row 3 for the first couple of months then get Skyrim after they've had a chance to patch it up a couple of times.
I'm sure SR3 will have plenty of glitches but I'm betting Skyrim's will be a lot more noticeable and a hell of a lot more annoying.

Couple days ago I was saturating myself in Arkham City trailers and screens. Before that I was freaking out about how close Assassins Creed: Revelations is. Now I can't get enough of Saints Row 3 ... I'm so confused!
Right now I want to play this more than anything. I want to be back in Steelport with Gat and my gang!

I'm psyched for Skyrim, but I'm regretting my pre-order of it over SR3 every time a new Saints trailer comes out. Never played Oblivion, played the shit out of SR3. Almost feels like I'm betraying the game.

On the up side, It'll only be a month after release that I'll be able to pick it up!

I don't really need a respect system to get me to drive on the wrong side of the road at 90 while pulling crazy stunts. It's just a nice perk to get rewarded for playing as I do. ;)

Helicarrier?
Jet Bike?
For the love of god, tell me there are top hats.

Must. Preorder. NOW!

Well, the GTA4 port wasn't very good either. But SR3 looks much better than SR2 for the PC, so I'm excited.

Hahaha, I loved that they were poking at the Battlefield 3 trailer.

Anyway, orbital lasers, flying motorcicles, and a Helicarrier? Wow, this new Saints Row is so much cooler now...

Uhm, what Playboy bunny are you talking about?

OT: Every trailer I've seen from this game makes me want it more than I wanted it the second I heard it was being made. This made me want it more than I can explain. Volition, take my money now! Oh wait. I pre-ordered this months ago.

Serious, that's how you scrolled through the main menu.

You didn't see the Twitter ad campaign with the 4 definitely-not-porn stars?

Now that you mention it... no, I did not... Now that I have I wish I hadn't asked you and I full-heartedly agree with your statement...

Well, I'll forget their ads and buy it for the game experience. Maybe vodka will erase the last 5 minutes...

Anyone see the trailer is alot like Battlefield 3, they did that on purpose right?

Oh, just take my money saints row 3. Giant Airships? Hover-bikes? Jets that shoot lasers, that you can fly? Check, check and check.

I like how they copied BF3 and COD MW3's flashy lights plus banging noises. I think every videogame that releases should have that in the trailer.

PS: Sarcasm

The_root_of_all_evil:
Is it a Decent PC Port?

Volition keeps saying how it's not a port and how every version of the game is designed for each system in-house. And they said it so many times it's kinda hard to keep the cynicism up. They just bomb it with all the good news. I actually think the game will be OK on PC. It better be, because I don't own a console.

It all looks good, but I worry that there might be such a thing as too crazy. I mean, Saints Row 2 was crazy, but it was still at least partly grounded with a story, characters, that kinda thing. So far Saints Row the Third seems to be a collection of crazy shit. Maybe when I play the full game all my fears will be put to rest, but I'm not setting my hopes to high.

Also, no gang, gun or crazy get up could replace how awesome the Sons of Samedi were.

Pre-ordered.

Can't wait. I'll be like a poster above and get Skyrim later.
