Zero Punctuation: Batman: Arkham City

I'm surprised that no one brought up the Superman 64-esque ring section.

Well, he did say that the game got his recommendation, so let me just assume that four of the games on his top five this year will be Portal 2, Bastion, Driver San Francisco, and Arkham City (not necessarily in that order). I have no idea which will the fifth one be though.

This is just creepy.

I feel like I have just spent some time in Yahtzee's brain, because I agreed with EVERY SINGLE POINT he made.

Thank you Yahtzee, for leveling up my internet cock.

Melopahn:
Calling you out Yahtzee 100% of the side missions are completable after having beat the game.

Just because you can't find it doesn't mean it can't be done.

For example. I didn't do one side mission until i beat the game and now I have a file that's 100% complete.

So like many others I don't get this complaint. If you need help grasping this concept feel free to flame me then i will tell you where to look and why you are still wrong and giggle like a giddy child.

Other then that there is going to be a 3rd game so I'm sure a lot of villians will get their time to shine in that game.

Since I missed Killer Croc and black mask.

Not true. I know for a fact that 'Find Nora' and the Mad Hatter's sidequest can't be completed after the story ends. Freeze permanently locks himself in the lab, and the Hatter's thingy vanishes after Batman is cured.

Where did this sudden burst of hate for buying pre-owned come from? I had no idea that Yahtzee would feel so passionaltely for the issue. Of course everyone in the gaming industry should feel just that because the entire industry revolves around selling new games. Still, a little out of the blue.

But still, great review... little confused by the story though.

Since he brought it up...
I understand the plight of game developers these days, but I shouldn't have to feel bad for buying pre-owned. No other industry complains about this sort of thing. I know developers and publishers don't make any money off pre-owned sales (and I REALLY hate GameStop), but the 60 dollar price model is too steep for me. I don't buy games THAT often, and if I have to buy a game used to save a chunk of cash, I will.
Solution? Cut the price! It can't be that hard. Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 will only be 40 USD new. That's a a perfectly reasonable price.

People are flipping out way too much over the used game comments in this video. It's obviously what he wants you to do, and his comment is easily dismissed as ridiculous by people who have put some actual thought into the subject (such as Jim Sterling, and this is coming from someone who isn't really a fan of his to say the least).

So ignore it. Don't feed the troll.

Very good review Yahtzee. Looks like you did your homework (man, how awesome would it be to play video games as homework for College? That would be the life...) *Ahem* Anyhow, what really annoys me is when they throw in villains just for the heck of it without much screen time.

Usually for some reason, they throw their hitch men in when of course you already fought them along the way so it's sort of pointless. I wish they put up more interesting fights overall, but I guess that makes me picky. Anyhow loved the review and laughed imagining cat woman smacking her face into a building as she swings XD

Not true. The music industry tried to block pre-owned sales forever. So did the video industry. And neither of those had as much of a problem with it as the games industry, partially because there was no massive retailer doing it, and partially because they had other sources of income (radio, theatre tickets, TV).

So yeah.

Also, you can buy new games at 30 bucks if you want. A ton of games get their price cut, and Steam will sell you reasonably priced gaming at any given time. You just think that the game that you really want and just came out yesterday is too expensive which, really, makes your plight feel way less reasonable. If 60 bucks is too much you can go buy a number of "humble indie bundles" right now and get 100+ hours of gameplay for as much as you want to play. Just not Arkham City.

It's explained why hugo strange can get away with all this

I also liked how this time around you could actually

The voice actor for Ra's Al Ghul was rubbish.

I have to wonder, which side-quests get locked off? Cause I never had this problem.

I'm curious about this complaint as well,.

I haven't finished the main story and there are some side missions closed at the moment. Maybe they pop up when you finish the main quest? There was something like that in ass creed brotherhood.

Kopikatsu:

Ah there you go. fits with the whole newgame+ thing.

I hate buying games used but I don't have the money to buy them new and I don't want a game bad enough to pay $60 dollars in the first place.
Crap, I just gave away that I'm American.

Von Strimmer:
Enjoyed the little pre-owned dig there. Haven't played the game and never will. Still a good watch though.

You also enjoy scrapping your old car when you get a new one and burning down a house when you move out? Because if not, I'll enjoy calling you a raging hypocrite.

This was probably one of his best reviews so far. Everything just seemed true, and like good ol' yahtzee, he has probably aggravated fanboys all over the internet. On a different note, this is the first time I've ever seen a page announcing one of Yahtzee's new videos where there aren't any bans on the first comment page.

Can we have a store which sells preowned games and gives money to the publishers please?

lol I liked the new box art :D

Little Duck:

Can those bitching publishers get a collective brain and just go digital (Steam, PSN, Android Market) and/or public (LAN/console centers, arcades) already, please?

You know what the worst part about Catwoman is? She was featured so much in the hype, that locking her off was somwhow even dumber than Rage's sewers.

Wail im not sure about the mad hatter quest I do know the find nora quest can be beaten after the main story. Thers another entrence in the gcpd building. The one you take out after mr freeze gives you the ice grenades. You can see it if you look closely on the in game map.

"Batman doesn't buy pre-owned and neither should you"

Yeah, well Batman is one of the richest of the 1% in the DC Universe who got that way by exploitation of the public and BANKS.

OCCUPY GOTHAM! -:F

Ugh, didn't feel as if Yathzee was really into the review. I get the impression that he didn't really like the game very much, but neither did he find particularly faulty. Unlike K&L 2, Arkham City didn't immortalize itself with its lack of quality.

Might get it when Steam puts it on Sale.

That Batman and the Argonauts line was fucking awesome.
Just throwing that out there.
Because it was.

hmmm...a lot of emphasis on the Riddler in this video, oh and when is he going to finish fucking space marine! O,e

Didn't realize some side missions were locked off if you didn't do them before the main mission ended. I could've sworn I finished the main mission before I found deadshot, and I know I didn't find the face cutting guy till afterwards. Still a great game wished the night wing DLC was like the catwoman won and not just combat challenges.

First off....the captcha said something that might possibly exist: ethyl adomide.

But more importantly.....3 pages and no one said anything about "donkey boffing"?

I am disappoint.

Dr_Steve_Brule:
What the
Leave Bat vision on? Are you bloody insane?
You can't figure out anything with bat vision on.

Yeah and if you leave it on while in the City you can't see shit. It seems like they made the Bat vision harder to see with.

Signed.

I did Nora after as well.

This made my day. After watching this video I went back to play this game some more, and the next NPC conversation I overheard was:

"Arkham City? Jeez, what's next. Arkham County? Arkham State? Big-Ass Arkham Planet? They'll try anything."

Here's my problem with Zero Punctuation - I really think he's forgotten why he exists. You're meant to beat to crap the bad games so the good ones shine all the brighter, not nitpick everything to death and then say "oh wait no it's pretty good I guess". It came to a peak around Red Dead Redemption where he made a quick turnaround "well-written, good-looking, fun"... I'm not saying Yahtzee shouldn't nit-pick, but it's all started to get lost in a muddle. The horrible games get as much negative attention as the good games, and his recommendations have gone from "this is great" to "meh, buy it, I guess".

It could be because there aren't actually any great games that have came out recently, and I'd buy that, but even the few titles he admits are great he has to rub all through the mud. YOU'RE ALLOWED TO BE POSITIVE. Zero Punctuation used to be 2 parts bile to one part praise... now it's just all bile, all the time, and it's really not as enjoyable anymore. It's still incredibly funny and the critique is as biting as ever, I just miss it when distinction between good and bad was more than a sentence at the end and a pat on the head.

Well someone just flipped his or her shit for no reason. It's an opinion champ, its mine and if you dont like it? Deal with it.

Also cars and houses are not video games.

This is the funniest ZP in a long time. I laughed particularly hard at the catwoman bit.

Yearlongjester:
when your friend tells you the new game you got is shit, you start to look for all the flaws and stop enjoying the moment.

No what you do is say "It's not as shit as your face" :D
