We're going to PAX!
The Penny Arcade Expo, for those unfamiliar. Yep, that's right, we're crawling out of our little Escapist cave and venturing out among the people. Whitney Butts, our Lead Web Developer, and I will be making the long trek across the country to Bellevue, Washington ... and leaving at 5:30am to get there. I didn't know airports existed at 5:30am.
Anyway, we will be out and about at the Expo, highly-caffeinated on Saturday and then on Sunday, I'm delighted to participate in a panel on New Media, called "Blogphotopodcasting: New Media in the Game Industry." From the PAX website:
Join pioneers in the new media industry as they discuss how they're blazing the trail for mainstream news and how the mediums of the past are shaking in their boots. Panelists include Brian Crecente (Editor, Kotaku), Ashley Jenkins (Fragdolls.com), MC Wilson (Broadcast Gamer) and Julianne Greer (Editor, The Escapist) Moderated by Larry Hyrb (Microsoft).
Sounds like it's an interesting line-up and should be a good time. Stop by and say hello!
Let us know if you'll be there! We're very much looking forward to it.
...even if we do have to get up at stupid early.
I hope to be there, but the logistic to travel to Bellevue is pretty hellish. I know some car caravans are driving from coast-to-coast, but they're not on my way. So I'll have to improvise something. See, I live in Redmond, WA, and Bellevue is like, I'm not kidding you, two full highway exits from my place. So hopefully I get there in time and alive. If so, be sure I'll go watch that panel of yours :-)
I'll be there all three days, covering the event for Gamers With Jobs. If you guys are interested in any cross-site drinking, let me know. :)
Yes. Cross-site drinking is good. Make sure to let us know. :)
