Meatbag and Co: A Visit to Jerry's

A Visit to Jerry's

Some things have the right name. Other things clearly do not.

Watch Video

This is still as unfunny as Rusty's jokes, it feels like there are absolutely no punchlines, there's barely anything resembling humour, and the whole thing just feels stilted.

Simply put, you need a Caboose or a Tucker or a Sarge or a Griff or a Simmons. Two Churches doesn't work.

I thought it was pretty good. There were some parts that were dull in the shopping mart, but I believe that not all jokes need a hard punchline. Witty banter can be a form of humor as well.

EDIT: Derek, I'm going on a smoke break...gonna smoke these fools. that was awesome.

Can't say it's working for me. But possibly if things improve over the next couple. Not exactly anything that I find funny, or interesting.

I'm trying to like it...but it's just not working for me.

Still feels like the episode is dragged on with just alot of babble. You think the miner would have snapped at the manager.

You need to work on the pacing abit. Do it for Tree Face.

Certainly a lot better than the first, but it still feels a bit slow. I'm hoping to see it get better, though.

Wow! That was great! Storm King was hilarious! Keeps getting better guys!

And from last week.

Good stuff! I saw a Jessie Moore in the credits.. Is that the guy from roboawesome.com?

I can't wait to see more meatbag & co. The writing is excellent!

Considering how luke-warm at best of a reception that this has received. And that you only have 2 posts total, you really come off as a plant or someone personally involved. Now that might not be the case. But all the signs are highly suspicious.

I'm all for giving a program several tries before giving up. But this kind of thing rubs me the wrong way.

Also, his other post was for episode one and is exactly the same.

Oh my bad fellas. I had just found Escapist a few weeks ago and have yet to really comment on stuff. Typically my video game sites included Kotaku and RoboAwesome. So SCREW me for finally hopping on board Escapist, and then when I find something i LIKE I get blasted. Oh wait its the internet, filled with suspicion and hate. Thats what i get for coming here.

I guess I need to start posting on every other video here to make you guys happy.

The two central characters are pretty much the same; there needs to be a bit more variation.

Personally, I'm willing to give this one more chance to get funny before I stop watching it altogether...

You commented extremely positivley on two videos which everybody else either hated or found mediocre, and nothing else...

Surely you can at least see why he's suspicious?

perhaps. But it was not intended to be as such. I watched it and it reminded me of the guy at RoboAwesome who does their videos, so I asked. I didnt know what other way to contact them. So i did my best to express my thoughts and I got slapped. Its the internet after all.

I will make sure to comment on more things, that way the escapist community can maybe one day accept me like the communities at Kotaku and RoboAwesome accept me.

regardless, I cannot wait to see more.

i'm really trying to give this show a chance, but i'm just going to be blunt and say:... booooring! last time i watch it...

Wow dude, uh lay on the conspiracies a bit thicker maybe?

I enjoyed this episode a lot, I hope that doesn't mess up your data too much, although I guess I could actually just be a sentient computer which would fully explain why I liked this episode because I have a completely different sense of humour from all human beings

youre my hero.

wait, i better not quote you, people will think we are best bro-computers.

Not loving it, not hating it...

I'd like to see this grow into something akin to The Legend of Hobo in terms of hilarity, but so far I'm unimpressed. At least it's leaps and bounds better than Game Dogs ever was.

The funniest parts for me were:
Perogies and angst with perogies
Rusty Robots

Needs to be more believable next time though. Who would ever shop at a place called Jerry's?

First time I've seen this.

I like the idea of using minecraft as a medium to tell stories and create interesting settings, but the writing is bad. The writers need to read up on how to produce comedy. Basically, to write comedy, all you need is create a familiar situation and then defy expectations, alternatively, make clever observations about the real world, or perhaps go for an all out, anarchic, lightning paced sight gags.

Really, just talking about random things is not funny. That's all this is. Both these episodes are just riding off the fact that oh woah, they're talking about things people don't normally talk about, isn't that so random guys?

The easiest way to make something like this work is contrast. Right now, it's just straight randomness for the sake of randomness, with literally nothing else there. It's like trying to paint something with one color.

*sigh. I'll give it another chance next week, but you're really not helping your case so far...

Perogis are yummy

jerry's... lol

Just stop trying already will you, though I do have to say I've never seen a the meaning of joke killed before, mostly due to no jokes being said through this "comedy".

If this is really how you want this show to feel, please just go on YouTube and watch something random to get some random thoughts for your random show, before keeping them to yourselves.

Only made it half-way through this one. Won't be returning. Might be somebody's type of humor, but it ain't mine.

Where's the payoff?

Je-ez that was PAINFUL!

Is this trying to be funny 'cause I ain't laughin

Initially I said I wouldn't watch a second episode if one came out, but for fairness sake I watched it. Now I understand the expression "go with your gut feeling".

At least in this episode you had a couple punchlines, although they were not funny. Each scene drags far to long, and is not a funny situation to begin with. I get the feeling there are inside jokes involved, but inside jokes don't make for good entertainment.

Honestly the most clever scene was the end when the thunder sounded and the Storm King yelled his name, but even this didn't even get a smirk from me. It was way to predictable.

Another complaint I have is the robot itself. Why are you using such a human sounding voice for a robot to begin with? Secondly his 'jokes' are just long winded speeches that don't have any punchlines at all, where is the cynicism he subtly claims to have? Sorry but this show just does not deliver in any category.

It was progress. I'm not sure which direction, mind you.

I thought the russian ones were kinda funny though.
that said, it all ended pretty ugly.

very, VERY ugly.

STORMKING!

Better than episode 2! Now I wanna see more.

Cosplay Horatio:
Better than episode 2!

Uh, buddy... That was episode 2.

This one actually got a reaction from me. It was kind of the beginning of the process of a laugh, but a reaction none the less. Still, this is pretty base.

I think the issue is at the root of the show: it's Minecraft. I've found that physical movements can really add, enhance, or emphasize humor, and that's near impossible to do with a video game. That's why I don't find Red vs. Blue funny: because they can't move outside of the preset animations.

Here's what I mean by physicality enhancing comedy:

See how he acts out and pantomimes everything? The facial expressions, too.

Sorry to say but I couldn't stand watching / listening (especially listening) to this longer then 5 seconds. The voice acting was just terrible. There was no real need for special 'voice', but the natrual voice just doesn't carry well on a video. It's just a torture to listen to. I'm sure that if I'd have a face-to-face conversation it would not bother me that much, but without any bodylanguage, I just can't stand listening to you.

haha, made me laugh so i liked it, think it needs another regular, but probably not enough time per ep. also ignore all the hate, happens everytime a new show rocks up. just look up that jimquestion or whatever its called, people were making threads to say how shit he was
