Amy Review

Amy doesn't deserve to survive the zombie attack.

1.5/5? From what I've heard about this game, that's actually fairly optimistic. I haven't actually played Amy, but I've watched some of the game on Youtube. The scariest thing I saw whilst watching was that Marcello guy, and he was actually helping you. Fuck, he was creepy...

"You'd probably have more fun setting you ten dollars on fire."

I usually hate statements like that, saying that X awful-nasty-thing would be better than the thing which the author has a distaste for, because it's usually untrue. Would you (an ambiguous second person, of course) really rather eat poop than play MW2? Really?

But setting ten dollars on fire would be rather fun. And if this game is not that much fun, then you are quite right in your recommendation.

So yeah. Nice review. <3 Susan.

And to think, I thought this was interesting enough to drop money on.

Glad I waited to see the reviews. It's a shame too, because it looked like a great concept.

Ouch. Nice scathing review, Susan. Brilliantly done. The sad thing is, I'm almost tempted to check it out just to see how bad it really is. But, I'll save some money on this one.

I was totally considering it, too, so thanks for saving me some cash.

Just watch Lets Plays of them, theRadbrad, Tetraninja, are the ones I've seen finished or one part away from it. It doesn't look that bad, but I see the frustration in them. here is an example, Amy can't climb ladders, she also can't drop from a one-two foot drop without Lana picking her up and helping her down. Also, they show like 7-8 powers but you only get to use two.

Also Susan having seen it I think I know the answer.

I don't know if its the earlier levels, but later on you see dots over the power so one you get at max of three the other is like five.

I was almost tempted to buy this one on the XBLA, I mean it looks graphically beautiful from what I've seen, least for an XBLA game. However, I decided against it lacking the kind of money to throw at a game for the moment. Seems it might have been a good choice, given the reviews, its not a very good game.

While my opinions aren't ruled by reviews, when a bunch of them come out and they're all complaining about the same problems, they're might be a legitimate reason for that and thus might not be worth my time and money.

And it seemed like such an interesting concept.

I know. That's what's so frustrating. There is genuine potential here, but all of it is squandered.

Guess horror fans like me will have to wait for the Silent Hill game thats apparently a sequel to the movie, or something....

So, at least it's consistent in its badness.

While reading this review I was hoping for a link to a video at the end as it sounds annoying, but your reactions would have been icing on the cake.

Maybe we can hope for an Amy II rebirth where your play the mother giving birth to Amy while trying to survive a haunted hospital. Push X for contractions, Y to push, right and left bumpers for breathing, Right trigger Psychic water breaking, push down on both control sticks to open doors.

I want this game to be. Pity this one fell through it may hinder my dream game.

the game still sounds interesting to me. it doesnt have to have great graphics. amnesia also doesnt have nice graphics but still created a nice atmosphere.
from the youtube videos i have seen, it looks alright. im really wondering how the pc version will be. at least i have read that it will come for the pc as well.

Preaching the truth, Susan. It seems like for every good idea the game had, it was destroyed by several annoyances. Good review, very comprehensive. Now to delete it off my hard drive....

I really wanted to do a video for this, but we ran into unexpected tech issues. Sorry :(

That sounds suspiciously like another XBLA game, Baby Maker XTREME. And...Baby Maker XTREME 2!!!

Would have been more interesting if it was zombies for the 8 millionth time. Couldn't it be robots

I was genuinely excited for this game, at least until all the very negative reviews started showing up and after I saw gameplay videos. Shame. How did they fuck it up so much?! :/

From what I understand, the game doesn't track your inventory or world state whenever it loads. Meaning that Amy randomly loosing the appropriate ability to deal with a specific point isn't the fault of the ability randomly disappearing, it's because the game was quit out of, or the player died, wiping all of that progress.

Wasn't. Use your contractions.

Also, robots have been lame a lot longer than zombies.

Robts are never lame

"I hate what you said, but you're totally right."

:/

OT: Never planned on getting this game anyways, so no skin off my back.

This is not the first horrible thing I heard about this game.

I certainly shan't be buying it.

bdcjacko:

Robts are never lame

Michael Bay managed to prove that one wrong.

no he didn't. Michael Bay proved that when you flood robots with obnxious humans and poor actors, they're awesomeness is overshadowed by lameness.

fool.

Now that does hurt: a promising survival horror experience ruined by either a lack of experience or a lack of effort (or both). I'm getting tired of seeing promising material ruined like this. There's no excuse for this level of shoddy quality in this day and age. Where are the game testers? Where are the supervisors?

Where are the spellcheckers? Most writers can't earn $50 for a short story without checking their work; demanding money for Amy is one of the more audacious things I've seen this week, right up there with Newt divorcing his ill wife because she wouldn't swing.

Are their any positive reviews of this game?

I couldn't get past how dark and choppy the first 5 minutes were.

If they release a version that fixes that, I might try another demo.

Exactly. Plus michael bay is lame.

Transformers made big robots dull.

Much like robots in general.

Except Bender.

I knew it was going to be bad when I heard Amy was mute, and that she had physic powers _
At that point I knew they were biting off more then they could chew and the powers would sway the gameplay to something I didn't want.

In fairness, I believe English is their second language. I'd forgive the typos if the core game wasn't such a train wreck.

Mm, no. These days games are coming from more varied origins than Japan and North America - Russia, Poland, Germany, Korea; if you're not sure you've mastered the language, just hire someone who has; college students work cheap and need the money.

I make a big deal about it, but like you, I'd forgive bad writing (and even bad acting) if there was a servicable game invovled.

Just heartbreaking. Nothing worse than having to give a bad score to someone who tries something new.
