Jungy 365:

Oh, and nice working in with the Killing Joke reference. So will you be putting your videos up on Thursdays now, then?

Yeah - my vids and Encore article will all be coming out on Thursdays from now on. Avoids the heavy ZP traffic!

blackdwarf:
it felt really odd for me in the beginning because you last songs were all pretty serious and/or epic. (which is good, don't get me wrong) but then to hear this song that is a bit more "fun". which felt really refreshing and only shows how good you are with this stuff.

Next fortnight's song is a fun one too ;)

meganmeave:
Channeling Danny Elfman, are we? (Val helped me pin down this familiar sound)

!

Yup! I thought it would be quite fitting as he composed the music for the amazing 1990 Batman film, which is closer in tone to Arkham City than the Nolan films.

Delock:

Also, you seriously have to update your bandcamp so I can give you my money for your newer songs. These need to get on my iPod right now.

Back In Time is up there now - each song goes up 2 weeks after the video is released :)

Sonicron:
Dude, changing your voice to resemble Hamill's Joker like that is already impressive - but keeping it that way through an entire song with erratic vocal shifts? I have no words to properly describe my admiration for this accomplishment.
You. Effing. Rule. :D

Thanks buddy :)

RTR:
I hope it's OK if I say that it's easy to imagine Mark Hammill singing this in character.

I shall take that as a compliment :)

Strain42:

Seriously, when does your new album come out again?

All my songs (except this one) are available here: http://miracleofsound.bandcamp.com/

As for hard copy, maybe soon but no plans right now!

purifico:
The joke is on those who kept saying that you always sound the same in all your songs ;) Did you do the crazy Joker laugh yourself too?

Yep. Did everything!

emeraldrafael:
Thats a really good joker impersonation. did it take you a long time to get it or did it just come naturally?

The accent was easy enough but getting the right gravel, cackle and vocal tone was very challenging. Had to do a few takes of certain lines!

Neonbob:
Brilliant, Miracle. :)
You creeped my mom out while I was listening to it, so that's made it a double must-buy song!
Just...fantastic. Thank you for this!

Sorry, Bob's mom! :D

Man, that was perfection. Loved every bit of this song *plays again*.

Sorry, Bob's mom! :D

Don't you dare apologize! :P
That was the best part of my day! XD

It's not hyperbole to say I've been listening to this song non-stop for the past several hours (well ok, it's slightly hyperbolic, obviously I'm not listening to it for the few seconds when I move the cursor back to the start of it)

See, Miracle of Sound. This is what I love about your songs. I have not played Arkham City, I'm not even that big of a Batman fan (I mean, I have Batman in my blood like everyone does, but I don't buy any of his books or anything) and yet I love this song.

Even when you do songs about games I'm not playing. I enjoy them, because they're well written and have good music set to a good beat. I'm not sure how to properly word this but...I like that your songs capture the game, without necessarily making it feel like the people who played it will appreciate it more. Does that make any sense at all?

I don't know. I like it though lol keep up the good work.

AMAZING Joker voice, perfect music and great lyrics.

So, when can throw my money at you?

Are those Disney influences I hear? Made me think of Scar and Jafar :)

Wow! That's just made my day (and a shitty day it was). But I'm happy now. Thank you, Mr. Joker.

Another great one. An applause to thee sir.

Also good job on the video editing. So congrats to Mr.Clouse as well.

A brilliant piece... and I'm inclined to think that it doesn't just apply to Batman and the Joker. It could apply to every comic book hero and their villain. Where would one be without the other? The two know each other well, but not well enough to know all their tricks, and it's an unspoken rule that neither one will kill the other; this allows their struggle to last throughout the years (both in-character and from a reader's perspective).

Suffice it to say, this is a fantastic song. ^_^

This song is bloody awesome.

Awesome stuff, it really feels like it could be in a musical, the lyrics are great the voice is awesome and its pure fun...

bleachigo10:
I do believe this has replaced Sovengarde Song as my favorite song of yours Gav. I got a huge creepy circus vibe at the start of the song which fits the Joker perfectly, truly some of your best work.

I'll go one step further and say that this takes my favourite song award from "The New Black Gold". You manage to turn out consistently high quality week after week after week... HOW THE [censored] DO YOU KEEP UP?

:O when is this on iTunes?!?! i must have it!

You've outdone yourself again... Are you certain you're just one person? :D

Ok, now that was just creepy. Seriously impressive though, to mimic a voice like that the wole way through.

I'm more grateful now than ever for your different styles; Very pleased with this song :D.

Now I'm just worried that if you do settle on a style we might miss out on something great!

Fantastic song! Your music is worth the price of my Pub Club membership alone so I can download all your songs to my iPod.

I've been muttering the chorus to this song under my breath non-stop for the past several hours...the Joker is my favorite DC super villain and I think you've captured the character perfectly here, which is hard to do for a lot of people. You managed to find the right balance of silly and terrifying, all while making the song catchy and fun to sing along with. I applaud you.

PS: Before reading the thread I was under the impression that you had sampled Mark Hamill's joker laugh for the song, but having been corrected in that I find myself even more impressed. A good Joker laugh is really, really hard to pin down. Trust me, I've been trying for years.

I'm surprised, that was... actually pretty catchy. And the Mark Hamill-esque voice really helps...

this is amazing!

you once again prove just how versatile you are. i hardly even recognised your voice, i would never have known just from listening. great!

That was....Awesome. Someone should make a Batman musical for Broadway, and that song should be in it.

Seriously, great work, guys.

I'm always watching your music videos, but I have to comment on this one. The way you sang, and the catchy rhythm of the song just fits so well together that this should be featured on the front page of Itunes or something! Love it, going to even download this into my MP3 and listen to the song. Heck, the words themselves are actually true about what the 'Joker' is trying to say. Good job overall!

Not really my stuff. I said the same about that other musician on here sometime ago, though I still think at least half of her popularity was just because she was cute.

It helps to be a little bit insane ;)

You saying I'm not cute?

I sent the video to a friend of mine, one who's not even a comic book sort. His response sums it up perfectly:

"Holy fucking brilliant, Batman!!"

Joker was always my favorite character in world of Batman.
You captured him perfectly with this song. Just awesome.

This song is great. It reminded me how sad the end of the actual game was.

well, this has been one of your best so far, I loved it

At first I thought your voice wasn't "vile" enough to pull off an insane villain song, but I started liking it towards the end. I found the song to be very enjoyable... Never played Arkham City though.

Also, in my opinion out of the songs I have listened to (Maybe half of the ones on Escapist) this was truly the first time when you made a great song which was videogame -inspired, rather than videogame song. I like it, and wouldn't mind if you would continue along this path.

I don't even know what's going on here but I can't get it out of my head! Ridiculously addictive. D=
I'm not happy with you, make me keep listening to songs! Why would you do that?

Very nice job on the voice! Doubted it was you at first. =O

The borderguard of the Star Empir... You know what? I'm going to skip the nonsensical nonsense-compliments this time and just say it clearly: This song was fucking awesome, you unstable genius you!

At every new song lies a new surprise and you keep shattering my expectations Gavin. This was an absolute joy to listen to. Simple as that.

(Feel the ego-stroking, feeeeeeel it!)

And I can only imagine how strange it was around your house when you did all the recording of that crazed laughter in the end! :D

Absolutely loving the waltz-y feel of this!
Definitely one of the best songs you've made, too bad I don't know much about music, so my praise can be nothing more than sheer fanboyism.
To that effect; SQQUUUUEEEEEEEE!

Excellent mixup I have to say that with it being a Joker song I expected it to be very upbeat, but the Carnival like start and the waltzy sound did take me by surprise. The voice was fairly good but I did find it got less Joker like save for the beginning, and chorus. Regardless I'm impressed that you were able to keep the tones shifting fluidly as you did so the sound remained Joker even if the voice didn't match it, in my eyes at least.

In short it was a great song, one of my favourites easily but then, I loved your other Batman song so I'm glad that this one was able to top it.

That was awesome, I got to watch this show some more
