About the outro images:
"It's my Darkness in a box!"
OT: got review, I also thought the visuals looked different...

Unskippable 30 second advert to watch a 4min vid?

Awesome idea guys.

Why don't you pay for premium membership then, ad free for a year. They aren't a charity, they are a business.

I think a crack in time came out in 2009..... But yeah funny.

Ah, I loved the porn movie reference in the end credits! Hilarious.

...Unless you watch LRR's Loading Time. Then you're stuck watching the fscking obnoxious irrelevant unskippable blip.tv pre-roll and post-roll ads.

XIII. Now that take's me back.

You know, you don't have to watch post roll ads, and honestly if you can't stand getting free enjoyment by just waiting through a 30 second ad that's pretty damn sad.

Double post :(

...Except it's not free. I'm paying for it. Hell, one of The Escapist's prime selling points for buying a subscription is -- and I quote -- "Publisher's Club members never have to deal with advertisements, including those within the videos." Yet, here I'm seeing ads.

And yeah, I don't have to watch the whole post-roll, all I have to do when the Uninvited Visitor starts blaring through my computer is to lunge at the CTRL-W keys to close the window, then utter the blackest of oaths at Adobe for insisting Flash grab and ignore all keyboard input, then click outside the video object, and punch CTRL-W again.

Even though I caught Yahtzee later in his online career, The Darkness was the first review of his I saw. Nice to have a bit of a revisiting.

Wow, is this the first time Yahtzee has mentioned Ratchet and Clank? *gasp* I think it is. Wait a minute, if that was 2007 then he used the wrong picture. ACIT came out in 2009.

"What do you want on your pizza?"

I don't want any cheese on my pizza, I just want the bread.

Does anyone know what thay comic is at 4:38 ?
I have seen it before but cant put my finger on it

So...Does this mean Yahtzee is going to fade into obscurity for the next twenty years and then get absorbed into a woman's vagina?

Huh. I'm kind of surprised actually, I just read a review of The Darkness II yesterday, so I'm surprised that Yahtzee didn't bother mentioning what that review cited as the game's biggest flaw- that Jackie spends the entire game moping over his dead girlfriend Jenny like some emo twit to the point that it makes him impossible to take seriously.

I was hoping yathzee would review this game. Although there's not much to be gained from the review I mean the game just doesn't sound that interesting. But then again I was never into the grim and gritty dark era comic books the darkness seems to be born from.

Woo! Zero Punctuation Anniversary addition! It's come a long way! =D

Also, I was considering getting an x360, now..not so much .

When someone very close to you dies, you tend to remember them a lot inadvertently. You might even get hallucinations. It's called Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

Another very hilarious episode.

Wow, it's like I ate a whole bowl of mild cheddar covered in that creamy mild sauce.
Are you OK Yahtzee?

I just finished the raid in WoW and I stumble upon what it would seem another Zero Punctuation movie which gives me the chuckles I needed to make my day.

I really enjoyed the game myself, really different compared to it's predecessor, but I like the new cell shaded look.Gives the game a way better vibe of the comic rather than the first one.

Ah, Yahtzee and nostalgia. Makes one smile to see someone improve from being buggered by big Steve to taking the lead and now buggering big Steve. Yahtzee has come a long way.

I never played the darkness 1 since it is not on the PC. When I played the darkness 2 though I really enjoyed it. It is short but its still fun and its better to be short and sweet than long and drawn out. So yes if you are interested in a good story. And by good story i mean yes you might of seen it done before if you are old enough or have enough experience, however its still enjoyable to play through it and the love interest is not a complete tool.

Daniel Poncelet:
Dear Esther needs to be done next.

I don't think he would like it! I imagine it would be torn apart due to the fact that in the Context, Challenge, Gratification model that Yahtzee came up with himself, and that he beleives a great game will fill those parts equally, Dear Esther fails on the Challenge front... due to the fact you pretty much cannot lose the game... or do anything but progress!

tony2077:
there may be a problem the humor is gone for me.

I felt the same after watching this, todays just wasn't that funny for me, one of Yahtzee's weaker episodes sadly. There seem to be a lot more reviews nowadays which are balanced compared to his older episodes where a game was either praised or torn a new one with no in-between.

A lot of people really hated this game, and I see a lot of negative player reviews, but for some reason, I really liked this one (and I consider myself to have high standards). Call me crazy? (sweet, apparently Yatzhee didn't give it a super thumbs down either)

I'd play a game where you get to be Doctor Octopus.

I agree, although I did play on medium (Being one of those people who likes to play the game and not just get insta-killed the first time he gets shot) and did find it abit easy. Not very, just abit easy. But more fun was had trying to come up with creative methods of murdering dudes and not using the fecking guns because what loser uses guns when you've got DEATHSNAKES!

Of course, Darkness 2 was my 'Game I wouldn't buy at full price' that I just happen to get on my birthday, but in reality I'd have paid 20 (Instead of 30) for it because it was overly short (4 hours) but had great writing and characters.

That's true. Yeah, to be fair, I forgot how dam -short- it was. It's definitely not worth $60 I suppose...

but I loved the writing and characters. It really hit home for me, and few games can do that. Also I played the game on the 2nd to last hardest difficulty. Was scratching my eyeballs out at how much I was dying. Gamer masochism

Oh I love that show! Remember that episode when that guy in tights came bouncing in and started shooting white stuff at the doctors face and then Octopus said something like "-I'm going to get you with my tentacles!" and then the girl in the costume said "-Oh no! Not your big fat cock! It wont fit inside my oven" but then Martha Stewart came along and said "-Don't worry dear I'm sure there is another way to roast this rooster". Hmm kinda weird show don't ya think? :S.... Reminds me of that time I spend all night drunk in front of the TV flipping between cartoon network, cooking channel and adult swim. Anyway what was we talking about again... oh yeah Darkness 2, kinda cool game I guess, shitty fov though :/.

Marmooset:
Is it just my imagination, or does Project X look like it's gonna be godawful?

What does that have to do with anything?

.No.:

That's what I saw for 30 seconds prior to the feature. That's what is has to do with anything.
Don't get me wrong - I understand and don't mind advertising on the site. It helps pay the bills. But since I saw it at this link, I thought I'd save a new thread to point out a what a steamy pile of shi- er, lowest common denominator marketing it was. If I was a youth who frequented this site, I'd be kinda insulted and/or discouraged that the marketing was targeted here.

That answer your question?

And we have come full circle.

Thanks Yahtzee for this review, it was funny but also surprisingly grand where now I may consider getting the Darkness II game. The 6 hours part I read up on in the last review presented by The Escapist really got me down because.. what can you do in just 6 hours? Yet, I am pretty convinced now that it'll be worth the fun. Besides, if I raise the difficulty then perhaps the 6 hours can be extended a bit. W00T!!

.. Also The Darkness I game will always be in my memories. That game brought me closer to being a gamer plus getting into your reviews Yahtzee. Such good memories, and now I get to relive them by being a rich mafia dude who wants to beat down a cult leader. Yeah!

kseee!
