Not mad. Just sad.

Now where did I write down my Twitter password...

Butthurt is assuming direct control.

How'd.....How'd you get the shirt on the bear?

Heh... geuss thats on par...

Wait! Whats the girl with the crush on Nathan Fillion doing with her fingers outside the comic box!?

Eh eh eh.. I like that one.. But the discription is even better <.<

>.> there's a vgcats comic that I wanna post here...but is it right to post another webcomic in the comment section for someone's webcomic? :3

BUY ALL THE SHIRTS!

Oh and buttons....I like buttons

Rule #1 of lazy comic writing: when out of ideas, use comic to relieve personal frustrations.

whoops, better stop writing or he'll start ridiculing me too

edit: love how the "release date" in the information box says "Q4 2011". Someone hasn't updated the database in a while.

Fans point out plot holes and inconsistencies with the ending and how it doesn't fit in the story

Game journalists and their websites that are plauged with EA ads call us entitled

Real journalists from Forbes, BBC News, CNN, NY Times, NY Daily news, etc... say the fans have a point and point out all the quotes Bioware said about the ending and how it ended up being lies.

Yeah, and you wonder why no one takes game journalists seriously anymore. I bet most of you game journalists cringe seeing more credible sources like Forbes rip you apart while you have nothing but petty comments to respond with.

Whilst this was funny, i think that ironically you guys seem kind of mad at the legitimate points brought up by many on last week's comments. Retake Mass Effect may be a little... extreme but at the heart of it they have a legitimate point; The ending sucked. The ending sucked really really really hard. It disregarded the choices the game put so much weight on throughout 3 games, its kind of like Bioware was going "Now all these choices you make are super important and carry over though 3 games- lol jk it didn't mean shit!"

The major selling point of the mass effect series was the customizable personal story you could craft with tour choices. No amount of pundit dismissing will diminish the ending being a bit of a kick in the balls.

Jim seems able to grasp this, why is everyone else effectively dodging the issue and trolling?

I get that it's a joke on the mocking of fans being butthurt, but I'm starting to get fed up.

I didn't support the movement, hold the line, send cupcakes or anything but I sure didn't like the ending. Now everywhere I go on the net I'm reminded that I'm apparently an entitled crybaby and I should suck up spending +100 hours and spending +150€ for an ending that couldn't be bothered to even tell me what happened being nowhere near what people deserved. (Artistic integrity or not, it's just bad.)

I was never angry, just dissapointed. After reading a bunch of articles, watching vids and now comics, I'm starting to get there. Thanks for telling me what a crybaby I am.

Whatever the point of the comic is supposed to be, I don't care.
Even the damn captcha is trying to be funny, it wants me to type in "get over it"...

Edit;

Me:
spending +100 hours and spending +150€ for an ending

I hope that no-one's dumb enough to point out that there happened to be three games included as well. I'm well aware of that, I had massive amounts of fun, I'd just like a conclusion to go with it, that's not utterly crap.

Very clever, very clever indeed.

Grey, you've been reading books on Pavlovian conditioning, haven't you?

And in that case this isn't directed towards you. This is directed to all those who got mad, started whining and did all of the other things. No reason to get fed up.

I hope you realize that even though you listed instructions below the comic, people still won't get it / will lash out at you out of principle.

Funny though.

I smell a shitstorm on the horizon. Ew.

Take back Mass Effect? Now? I've been outraged since Mass Effect 2. Everyone else is a poser.

Funny thing is, I actually HAD gotten over it, until I saw this comic.

DAMMIT COMIC STRIP WRITERS! Y U ALWAYS SO BEHIND THE TIMES?

Yopaz:

I see lots of reasons to get fed up, because all entertainment seems to be directed at the few outspoken ragers, ignoring the #1 policy of the internet, don't feed the damn trolls.

I'm somewhat confused at how some people think the comic is clever.

The way I read it, it's trolling people who'll assume the message is that they're crybabies, when it's about the mocking of the fans, with focus on the mocking itself. Right?

Either way, I don't think it's clever at all, just another reminder of how the sweeping generalizations that bloggers, journalists, vidmakers and comic artists/writers made up and overhyped, to the benefit of all companies who can now screw over all their fans in the name or artistic integrity and their fans being overentitled kids anyway.

It's not like I fell for it, I stated it in the very first sentence of my post, I get it, or at least I hope I do. I just really don't think it's funny at all, it's beating a dead horse and a lot of us aren't really happy about how the whole situation has been handled.

If there's an even deeper meaning, please explain it. I know I didn't describe it very well.

hehe.

Wait wait wait wait wait wait...

Why the fuck are people taking this strip seriously? They're obviously poking fun at the whole situation, not just the fans' supposed "entitlement".

Lighten the fuck up, people.

I don't think that people are dodging the fact that ME 3's ending was terrible, equivalent to a slap in the face, and in the worst case: an outright lie.

"The ending won't be take your pick of A, B, and C" (paraphrased) - Casey Hudson.

Well actually Casey, it turned out to be exactly that.

Here's the point that the anti-Retake ME people have: you bought the game. You paid for it. It's yours. You don't like the ending? Alright, you don't like the ending. Sucks, but....get over it.

When you pay for a movie and don't like the ending, you don't demand that the ending be rewritten. You write up a critique and say "Well the movie was good but the ending sucked."

When you pay for a book and don't like the ending, you don't demand that the ending be rewritten. You write up a critique and say "Well the book was good but the ending sucked."

That's why people are calling the Retake ME movement "entitled crybabies." Does it absolutely suck that the ending to ME 3 sucks so much? Yes, yes it certainly does. Does Hudson deserve to be kicked in the balls by every ME fan? Yes, yes he most certainly does...with steel-toed boots.

But the fact of the matter remains that there have been bad endings to all sorts of stories throughout history, this isn't the first time this has happened. When you encounter a bad ending, you curse those responsible for creating it, but you move on with your life. You don't start a protest movement.

didn't like the ending, didn't demand a new one.
bioware fucked it up epically, end of story.
now they respond to fan outrage with a more elaborate ending ... losers, but i understand.

what i don't stand is the attitude that made someone do this comic ... like, "Hey, target audience, did I ever tell you that I fucking despise you stupid fanboy nerds? Toodles!"

xD yep, that would be the one! :P

Yeah, when I heard people were petition for a chance to ME3's ending, I just had to roll my eyes. You don't like ME3's ending? Perfectly fine, everybody's entitled to an opinion. You say the ending was bad? Again, perfectly fine and you may very well be right (never got into Mass Effect so I wouldn't know how well or poorly it brings a conclusion to the storyline). Telling the makers to rewrite the ending to satisfy you? That's just stupid. It's the same attitude that has multiplayer game developers constantly nerfing new weapons a week or so after they come out; selfish people who aren't content to just voice their displeasure and then move on, they've got to demand gratification.

Now it's not just gameplay people are demanding be smoothed out so it doesn't give people any sort of challenge; they don't want to be challenged by the storyline either. ME3 may very well have a crappy ending, but sometimes you have to learn to speak your peace, then accept things turned out badly and move on. The next logical step would be people don't like a perfectly valid ending because it didn't happen to be the one they wanted, so they demand a rewrite. It makes me think of the scenario of Stephen King's "Misery," a rabid fan refusing to accept an unexpected turn of events and forcing the writer to change things to their own liking.

Fun, isn't it? It's baffling how quickly "Retake Mass Effect" became a group label for anyone who thought ME3's ending sucked. If you were dissatisfied with any number of things that composed the ending, Moviebob's screeching at you about how you're trying to rape Bioware's 'artistic integrity,' Yahtzee gives rambling theories about what he thinks Mass Effect was about and why it makes the ending awesome, and now Critical Miss's crew is cutting out the middle-man and just flat-out calling everyone a crybaby.

Yopaz:
And in that case this isn't directed towards you. This is directed to all those who got mad, started whining and did all of the other things. No reason to get fed up.

So...it's directed at everyone who was dissatisfied with the ending, then? Because the basic idea of "Retake Mass Effect" is that the ending sucked and Bioware is capable of much, much better. If I recall, there was one person who filed an FTC complaint, but from the look of the comic, everyone who didn't like the ME3 ending ran weeping to the FTC.

It's the world turned upside-down, mate. Jim is the voice of reason. Moviebob is howling about vague concepts like 'artistic integrity,' and Yahtzee is white-knighting about in Extra Punctuation to try and convince us that the story of Mass Effect somehow makes the ending of ME3 awesome, and we were just somehow mistaken.

Let me say that one more time: Yahtzee is white-knighting for a game developer. I haven't seen such a switch in mindset since Nathan Bedford Forrest joined the NAACP.

You must know that this is still going to be too subtle for most of your readers.

And using it to directly follow a strip where you unironically did say something retarded about the ME3 controversy is probably not the best timing. Unless that was intentional. But I doubt it.

Huh.

No, this does not violate the rule of not feeding the trolls. This pretty much is trolling those who weren't satisfied, bu saying you're fed up you pretty much did feed the troll yourself.

Yes, this comic is made to make fun of all those who just can't accept that the Mass Effect ending was terrible. Saying that they are crybabies is in fact fairly accurate. When someone says that they wont ever forgive Bioware for this and they feel personally insulted by it then they acctually deserve to be made fun of.

You say that this is a sweeping generalization, I think it's directed to that disturbingly large crowd who would in fact buy t-shirts or buttons because they are unhappy with it. If you're part of that crowd I can understand that you get fed up. If you're not a part of it then I would assume you'd be as annoyed with all those tedious threads about Mass Effect 3 and its ending like the rest of us.

Gotta' agree with this. Sarcasm or not, this strip reminded me that gaming journalists have handled this horribly. Instead of "let's look at both sides of this" it's devolved into "well, I didn't see anything wrong with the ending so you guys are just entitled asswipes." On the other hand, a shitload of non-gaming journalists have handled this with the tact expected of them. They looked into the technical details, identified how the situation could be "fixed", if it should be fixed or not and so on.

So, yeah. Not bothered about gamers being entitled or not, I'm more bothered about the piss poor excuses we have for gaming journalists nowadays. Oh, and Escapist, I'm talking about you too.

Subtle, I like it.

By subtle I mean obvious.

EA could make a lot of money if they made a shirt with marauder shields never forget

you know. even when the after ending dlc comes out. all those crying wusses would still cry cuz they arnt changing the three choices. just adding epilouge. and honestly.. thats great. i didnt mind the ending. just that it seemed to cut short. and epilouge is what is needed! but yeah. great strip :D

Brilliant.

The "mad" is palpable.

Corey and Grey make the Escapist for me. Comic gods incarnate. :D
