Internet experts are only allowed to whine about Japanese Swords and Modern Firearms.
Hammartroll: I think you guys are missing the point about the removable blade. He only took it out so he could scalp the guy, imagine skinning someone's head with a blade attached to your wrist, it's a little awkward. Believe me, I've tried.
Trying to scalp someone with a blade attached to your arm, a predicament we've all been through. Nice to see Ubisoft offering an answer to that age old question.
ProtoChimp: One minute isn't the point of the hidden blade to be more efficient than holding a knife like that so it's not obvious, you know, HIDDEN?
Making the blade detachable opens up options in combat. There's alot more ways to use a knife when it's not strapped to your wrist. Chances are, you can just pop it back into the bracer, and use it in the traditional sense as well.
You must not have played after the first and second games, then.
wheres the gameplay. teaser for sure but i dint see any gameplay. dint know you can shoot a bow like that but at long it works. :D the hidden blade was a bit weird but lets see how it will be in the final product. could replace throwing knifes. in short, 2 in 1. can be used as a hidden blade or as knives.
Oh boy, do they. If it weren't for the Desmond part, I'd sit this one out - as it is, i'll probably wait for a budget release.
That protagonist dude hasn't even said a word yet and I already don't like him. Also, the way I see it, this particular setting isn't even remotely interesting for someone who isn't already way into it - unlike the previous installments, where at least everything looked nice.
Oh well, we'll see.
You, you, you, you. That's all your post talks about. What you think of the game. These series have a large following of fans, just judging by the sales of the previous games. Judging by what the people on this site have said, there is a lot of interest in this game. So don't base the entire fan base off of your opinions.
I think the issue artanis was having is that it's pretty common for people on this website to act as if their opinions are the gospel and that anyone with an opposing opinion can not possibly be right. Things such as "this particular setting isn't even remotely interesting for someone who isn't already way into it" are extremely presumptuous and have an air of the person projecting their own opinions onto other people.
Of course, it occurs to me that you probably understood that and were just making a joke...

Pretty much this (assuming you were not making a joke) along with: He was agreeing with a claim that Ubisoft was overestimating it's fan base and then backed up his claim with his personal opinion of the game.

I didn't want to say it :D. I'm no archery expert in any sense of the word, but even I could tell this was shoddy.
OT: Trailers for trailers are BS. Still, for some reason I want this game badly.
poiumty: Most people may not know this, because most people aren't ultimate badass killers like me, but an assassin doesn't walk around with an entire freakin' arsenal. One pointy stick, handmade, inserted into the proper area and discarded right after. Preferably slip out unnoticed while everyone still thinks the target fell asleep.
The need for that is a bit less in an era when you're only conspicuous if you're not armed.
Im British and all for killing red coats in the game. But if they make out the Brits were evil and the Americas are heroes then this game will be bullshit. I want both sides to have arseholes and heroes. Both sides have heroes and villens and innocents.

Well, of course I'll post my own opinion on the matter - I don't need to tell other people what they think. Isn't that how a forum discussion works? The other way around, too, if I only wanted to hear my own thoughts, I wouldn't go on the internet but instead sit around and hum a little tune to myself or something.
Anyway, I didn't think it necessary to preface every post I make with a cute little disclaimer to make perfectly clear that a) I'm aware there are a lot of people who feel differently about it and b) by making a statement here I don't mean to say everybody else is wrong. I certainly didn't mean to offend.
With that said...
I was hoping for someone a little bit more in line with the tone of the previous games. Many fans of the series welcomed the switch from AC1 to AC2 because everything looked a great deal more colorful and vibrant. From what we have seen so far (which admittedly isn't much, but it's all I can base my opinion on for now) it looks like they're taking a step back from that. Also I'm not comfortable with the notion of a "more solemn" protagonist, since the initial brashness and following character development of the other two assassins have grown on me. Some old Prince of Persia: SoT I haven't gotten out of my system yet, I guess.
Also, I was hoping for a - to me, personally - more engaging setting. It's just a matter of taste, the american revolution just doesn't interest me in the slightest.
-EDIT- Woops, yeah - I get how one might get the idea I was being a tad presumptuous there. For clarification: That's really just my opinion which I feel some might share. There certainly wasn't only rejoicing when the first boxart came out.

They don't have scalping in the game anymore, they announced they removed that animation a few weeks ago. Sorry man.:(
ProtoChimp: One minute isn't the point of the hidden blade to be more efficient than holding a knife like that so it's not obvious, you know, HIDDEN?
Perhaps the hidden blade can be used in the traditional sense, removed to slash someone, or used as a throwing knife. Plus I would consider it more stealth if you could ditch the blade from the mechanism after stabbing someone. That way you don't get caught with a blade hidden under your forearm. I don't know I though it was awesome.
Actually, if you look really closely at the hidden blade/knife, it is still attached to his wrist, it just has a pivot point on it now kinda like a switchblade.

I apologize when I first replied I thought you were the first guy I quoted who seemed to be claiming that they are overestimating their fan base and won't get the 1,776,000 shares that they are looking for, so when you replied it looked like you were saying that "they won't get the shares for these reasons" which were personal opinions about the game itself, rather than public opinion about the game. So I apologize again.

Pretty much this, I still don't get why they moved away from areas like the Russian revolution with pre-established plot points (Nicholas II having a piece of eden) and even a comic that's set in that era. And even the landscape is perfect for an Assassin's Creed game.
All that's been shown so far is snowy landscape without any structures and running headfirst in (not assassination). Really holding my breath on this one, hopefully the gameplay trailer will grab my interest

you know I once heard a theory that the reason the British hired Hessians during the revolution was because the British soldiers refused to fire on their fellow citizens, assuming the Americans were still essentially British.
While I don't know if that's fact, making that a part of the story would be a good way to appease both Americans and Brits, making the Hessians be the soulless bad guys.

No offense taken. I actually think they'll have no trouble getting their shares. Actually even I want to see more before damning the game to hell and back. What did Boston and New York look like back then anyway? ;-)
The point where I think they're overestimating their fanbase is the one where they seem to expect the fans will jump on the new setting and roll with it. If you compare it to that first ACII cinematic trailer, you got vibrant colors, weird masks, an assassin blending in with the crows and an awesome free running/parcour scene vs. trees, snow, hunting a dude squirrel-style and executing him head-on. It's probably to early to say, but I'm still now over Splinter Cell: Conviction, so I'm not very eager to trust them blindly with this game.

Just an idea..
Hey, I'm originally from Hessia! We're nice, we have Ahle Wurscht and Grie Soß!
Dat Archer technique... is bad.
