I remember X-Play giving the first one a 1 out of 5 because it's a DW game and no one should play them derp and its based off an anime no ones ever seen double derp.

Eh, X-Play isn't always the bastion of intelligent or even fair reviews. You can't exactly blame someone for never seeing. Having played the game as well, I can see why some people may say its like DW, but it feels far different. There is no hordes of enemies to endlessly carve through, and the "bosses" feel more like actual bosses instead of stronger, unique-looking enemies.

Hell, giving the game a 1/5 is actually kind of a dick move, and doesn't fit at all. If they thought it was so generic, it should of been a 2.5-3. A 1 pretty much means the game is a broken, shoddy mess.

And as someone with no prior experience with Fist of the North Star as well as a low tolerance for DW games, and playing the game, it was far and above a 1.

Fuck X-Play...To be fair, Fist of the North Star was pretty obscure here in the states but still...there are far worse franchise games out there that people should stop buying into. That being said though, I haven't played my copy of 1 in ages and haven't actually beaten it yet...don't read too far into that but it's not a 1 star game...I'd say 3 but I'm a FotNS fan-boy...

edit - after watching the video...I'm disappointed by the lack of anything new except for the title and promise that it's being worked on. I'm hoping for a 3DS version so I can murder everybody on the go.

Let's see....

Out of place music? Check.

Over the top voice acting? Check.

A whole bunch of seemingly unrelated non-sequiters? Check.

Random, unnecessary filter over the whole thing? Check.

Yup, this sure is Japanese. Anyway, I've never heard of this series, and have no interest in this game. Also, that's a truly awful title. I would make a joke about how it sounds like a porno, but I think it's funnier if the title speaks for itself.

Also, assuming everyone is still insulting X-Play by the time I post....

C-C-C-COMBO BREAKER!!!!

The first game was horribly cheesy and over-the-top and insane and take my money now dear god. All this game has to do is be more of the same and I'd play the hell out of it. ...but this trailer reeks of "we just thought up of this game before E3"-iness. It's all made out of footage from the first game, for one.

But still. Dream Mode in the first game was enough to stand a game up on by itself and had about as many play hours as several thousand Call of Duty games stapled together so colour me excited for more news on this one.

Wait, you think "Fist of the North Star" is a bad title? ...pray tell, what is a good title?

I mean I won't say it's the greatest name of a series ever, but "awful"? Really? You're exaggerating a might bit, I believe, sir. It's a martial arts drama, "Fist" (those things used for punching people) of the "North" (a map direction) "Star" (star) seems suitable, if nothing else.

Well, it's not that part by itself, it's the fact it has two different subtitles. "Fist of the North Star: Ken's Rage: 2". Why didn't they just change the subtitle? (Also it's silly because obviously the North Star has no fists.)

Did you watch the whole trailer? :P

"Fist of the North Star: Ken's Rage 2 [working title]"

Also, the Fist of the North Star is the name of the martial arts style used. I believe. I think. There's a North Star and South Star and they both have different stances. It's confusing. But apt, regardless.

Because the 2 isn't a subtitle and it's like any other fighting style named after animals/nature/objects/whatever. It really makes sense if you watch the series and you'd know that the English title is a semi-odd take on the name.
And that all the footage is from the first game and the end is showing Kaioh's helmet.

I can guarantee that dear god will be giving you the game free of charge. :P

Basically its Fallout if Bruce Lee starred in it with a shit ton of gore. Makes sense since the creator is a diehard fan of BL and Mad Max(which inspired Fallout). It was HUGE in Japan in the 80's.

The whole series is on Hulu.

This will make an excelent Two Best Friends Play video
