Darksiders 2: Last Sermon Trailer

The sermon might need some rewrites.

Kratos, is that you?

Jeor Mormont, is that you?

Evil Smurf:
Kratos, is that you?

No that's his emo cousin: Crytos

DVS BSTrD:
Jorah Mormont, is that you?

Looked like Jeor Mormont to me. From the thumbnail, that is. Haven't actually watched the video yet.

And I coulda sworn he was in a Discworld TV series but... apparently not.

Hm?

I was under the impression that [b]all[//b] humans had died off after the apocalypse in Darksiders 1, long before Death was called down by War.

Yet some still live?

The first thing that came into my mind was also the question if it was Mormont.
Also why does Death use two small scythes instead one big one? Because one was used by War? That should be stupid. It should be logical in my opinion that Death can use it a lot better than War...

That's not logical at all actually.

First of all the traditional idea of the four horsemen go out the window because Darksiders uses their own lore. Which is why we have War, Death, Fury, and Strife in Darksiders rather and War, Death, Famine, and Conquest.

That aside, Death isn't portrayed as any sort of fighter in pretty much any mythology.

More over, the Biblical Death doesn't carry a weapon, because Death is absolute and inescapable. That being said, in other depictions Death is associated with a large scythe or sickle as a tool for destroying harvest thereby leading to inevitable death, not as a weapon for directly killing.

Again none of that matters since Darksiders uses different lore, so Death could wield a baseball bat in their games and it'd be fitting so logic really can't and/or shouldn't be applied.

For a while there I thought I was watching an add for the next season of Game of Thrones, then the scythes came into it and I realised it was Darksiders after all.

Wertornion:

Those two sickles combine to form his signature scythe, so no worries there; this little feature was just included to further spice up the combat. And because some folks probably thinks it looks bitchin'.

OT: Not impressed. I'm very much looking forward to the game, but the two-part Death Strikes trailer was far better.

The Live action trailer doesn't really add much. The contrast of the real people and evident CGI creatures/Death kills any investment. I actually didn't care about the plight of the human actors. There was no emotion in it (the greatest advantage of live-action trailers; Mass Effect 3 suggesting the extent of the Reapers, Skkrim adding to the open world). It felt like it was made to be 'cool' and because everyone else is doing it.

Lets hope the inevitable AC3 Live Action trailer is awesome.

Providing nothing has changed since I last hears about it, Death is actually running around at the same time as War, just not in the same place.

War's story takes place a long time after the apocalypse way after Humanity has been destroyed. Wondering how they will deal with the Humanity aspect as without Humans Death cannot exist.

Also I think the 'Original' 4 horsemen were War, Death, Famine and Pestilence which would actually make for a really cool Co-op game at some point

nope. war was called before the seals were broken. that was his big no-no that got him a punishment from the 'elders'.

in the end of darksiders he personally breaks the seal and 3 comets fall from earth -> 3 remaining riders.

1) War was called down DURING the Apocalypse. He mentions the other Horsemen aren't there. Presumably they were somewhere else.
Also I doubt the Horsemen's existence is dependant on humanity in this universe, since they existed before humans came to be.

2) That's as well as may be, but in this universe there's War, Death, Strife and Fury.

He was called down during but after the tutorial mission he has all his toys taken away and is sent back down much later to fix what went wrong, which is where the confusion lies, did Death come down between these times to clear up?

Though the Albrecht Dürer woodcut gives him a trident, even if he doesn't seem to know how to use it. I guess he's just happy to be out of whatever grave he got pulled from. The wind in his hair, the bugs in his rictus....

On the topic of the video, I like the guy walking up and peeking out the hole (perfect and almost completely unsplintered) made by the weapon. Not like he just had proof that a large pointy thing could come through the door that far!

That is how I remember it as well. All the others didn't ride because only War was duped.
And didn't an earlier press release about the game say that Death is specifically out to save War now in Darksiders 2? Why would Death come out before War if nothing called him?

I guess we'll find out soon enough.

Man, how boring would be the game where you play Famine...

Also: why in the trailer did the chandelier have light bulbs?

I dont know, it could be like a reverse simcity. Where a bunch of people try to build a town and live there lives and you have to screw with things to try and make them starve to death.
