Confrontation

Smartest reaction possible, I'd say.

Tiamattt:
I'm very sad that Captain Falcon is absent from this comic. :p

Well, she just came out of her completely made up full-interaction alternate reality. That kinda stuff pretty much depletes your insanity bar so it might take a while until the next hallucination shows up.

Maybe he'll stand behind Erin in the next strip, doing his "Show me your moves!" taunt from SSBM

Yeah, I'd pretty much punch his ass too.

Yep, looks like suitable conflict resolution to me.

Indeed, Erin had forgotten that most important of life's lessons: there's nothing a few broken noses and black eyes can't fix. She already got hers in the bar, now it's time to spread that "lesson"!

Seriously, I wanna see Erin go on a rampage, punching videogame characters right in the face. :3

If video games teach us anything, it is that violence is always the answer.

Kratos was right. She should've listened to Kratos.

And deception. Violence and deception. Deception is important too.

she looks like the medusa O_o is that good?

Im done with this. This comic has officially had an arc. It started out to be a low rent gag comic, improved drastically untill it became a good gag comic, then became a low rent plot comic.

Eye brows are a little thick in the last panel. Thats all I've got to say on the matter.

Djinn8:
Not disaggreeing with you that the tone is all messed up with this comic, but you've got to realise that this strip has been pretty experimental from the get go. The content, target audience, delivery, art style, etc, has been constantly changing from the get-go. It's still in Beta and while some stuff is sticking, a lot of what is tried out gets left by the way. Grey and Cory aren't professional comic writers, they seem more akin to bloggers using a comic strip as their medium.

Even more the reason to point out what doesn't work and why, even if it's just my opinion. I just wanted to do something actually useful and constructive rather than saying "this sucks and I'm this close to dropping it". Again.

Hey, I can dig it. Criticise away. I'd be rather ironic if a comic called Critial Miss couldn't take it's own medicine.

The proper response when someone dangles you out of the freaking window. Good going erin :D

*Gets out a tiny notebook and talks quietly as he writes* Do not... push... girls out... of windows... then dangle them... by their ankle... Will not... endear them... to me...

*Snaps notebook closed* Okay, got it. :)

Evil Smurf:

Why are people so amazed that the same artist will draw faces that look similar?

You know, it makes sense that his arms would be tired, as manly and muscular as they are. He's been holding her for weeks now.

I'm happy that this storyline is coming to an end. I liked it, I think it's a good thing in the long run, but man, has it been dragging on.

I hope I am not the only one, who expects something different than something along the line of "Erin punched that guy"...

TopazFusion:

Huh, I only just noticed that her face kinda looks like that medusa head from a few strips back.

Thats because he can only draw so many faces.

But yeah, Erin is a psychotic bitch with no redeeming traits.

Why do people hate spontaneous and non perfect women? Way I see is is half these forums are sperging hard and dating someone maybe equally bugfuck crazy would be an eye opener for some.

Spontaneous and non perfect? Thats an fucking understatement. Lets look back on this shall we?

1.When a friend tells her he doesn't want to hang out she breaks into his house and hurls heavy and expensive electronics at his girlfriend. Then, when he rightfully throws her ass out on the curb, not even pressing charges, she proceeds to mope and get drunk like she's the victim.

2.Whilst getting drunk she aggressively rebukes the advances of another man before suddenly deciding she wants to sleep with him, showing all the cohesive and rational thought processes of a chimp on a meth and viagra bender.

3. When said man says he doesn't want to sleep with her because she's a barely conscious, drunken, emotionally damaged mess of a person, she promptly assaults a random, unseen person in order to force this guy she just met to save her and take her home with him.

4. After the guy proves himself to be equally fucking insane by hanging her out a window, rather then simply acting calmly, walking out the door and then calling the cops, she attempts to solve her problem through violence, yet again.

Yeah, sorry, it's more like she has Borderline personality disorder then being "Spontaneous". And as per non-perfect...yeah, I guess being a shallow, egotistical waste of a human being with exactly two emotional states of "Insincere snarkiness to cover up own self loathing" and "Homicidal rage"is non-perfect.

Christ, this is the sort of woman who, if you knew her in real life, you would dub a "Crazy bitch" because thats exactly what she is, she's a hateful, manipulative woman with severe mental problems.

*sniff sniff*, I think I smell gas from your gaslighting.

1.Thats not an argument, thats deflecting because you can't say I'm wrong.

2.What in gods name are you even talking about? Gaslighting? How the hell does that connect to any of this? Who exactly am I psychologically abusing by saying a character is unlikable? Or are you implying that I do such things in real life and thats why I feel this way about the character? Because thats just ad hom; the refuge of the truly desperate.

Genericjim101:
Woah there buddy, someone's looking into things too deeply for a production of its calibre, gazing into the abyss abyss gazing into you and all that. I guess I've dated some pretty equally egotistical people then D :

Oh, I've dated the wrong girls too, believe me, but on the bright side they made me jaded to other wrong people, so I didn't end up getting tangled with people better left alone (though I still facepalm at mach 5 when I see a certain friend of mine keep smacking his face teeth first against unhealthy relationships, one after the other, but that is a different story).

Anyways, I was merely describing something that a lot of people seem to be misunderstanding in relation to why there is so much irritation at how this arc is being handled: when the "change" first started and Erin got her "crazy stuff" there was no reason to believe the comic had moved in any different direction than that of its origins.

This arc, and the last, well, three months or something have made it clear that all our assumptions on the comic, Erin and her wacky hijinks and how she gets away with it are all wrong. Or maybe not. Or maybe yes. Or maybe it's all in her head. Or maybe it was but now she's awake and reality and consequences are going to hit her back. All the while the author is tapdancing between hollywood insanity and serious no-joke depression, or maybe schizophrenia? I can't tell anymore and worst of all I fail to see whether this should be relevant or not, or why I should care.

I don't think the problem with this comic is that it went from one-strip sketches to story arcs, it's how extremely poorly this transition, and the thematic shift, has been handled.

Ehh, he should have never made a transition to begin with. The problem here is mostly with the characters as opposed to the simple lack of a solid clear set of consistent themes.

The biggest problem i've had with this shift into this semi dark comedic thing is that it has a plot, and plots require characters. Problem being is that the characters for a non episodic comedy structure with no prior plot are just so two dimensional and don't feel like real people, especially Erin.

I'm not really sure the writer understands how to actually write convincing characters because his attempt to do so with Erin falls incredibly short.

Erin is the protagonist, but she isn't like-able at all. Erin is unsympathetic, self centered, unreasonable, irrational, and has zero redeeming qualities of any sort. It's hard to feel invested in your main character when you can't identify with him/her because they act like an ass hat all day every day.

I want to reiterate just how much I have been enjoying this arc. Carry on. :D
