Rise (The Dark Knight Rises)

Rise from the shadows, make a fist of the pain.

Watch Video

The beginning kinda made me think of Mass Effect, but damn if it didn't end up working great. Nice to see you're back to writing whole songs now.

Just as the film, song has only one thing I dislike a bit - too epic =)

Great song, great video. Can't wait to ride this one in Audiosurf.

Brilliant song, it really captures the feeling of the film.

Kinda felt you trying to channel your inner Hans Zimmer there, in a way.

You clearly keep getting better at this. Awesome work.

great song i think you captured the spirt of the nolan batman films beautifully

The begining made me think of Adventures of Batman and Robin. It was very similar.

Also in one of the choirs, it sounded just a bit like Mind of the Bat. If that was intentional then thumbs up for minor references!

Yes! Great film. This song makes me want to see it a 3rd time :D
Nice, Gav!

Chaaaaaaaaant. Yaaaay~ <3

That said ... I'm not sure whether or not I like the movies route ... However ... I smelled elements from Sovngarde Song, New Black Gold and pretty much any of the Mass Effect songs, which kinda makes up for it ...
Overall ... Still not sure, but the song was great as alw-- ... let's say usual ... :P

That was one hell of a song! And the video was spot on with it as well. Seriously, I think this was the most well-made video out of all the others--it just worked beautifully with your song, meshing perfectly with the tone of the song at each moment.

It's a bit of a silly question, but was that your voice for the verse "I will start a fire..."? It sounded exactly like Bane's, so I'm just wondering if you synthed your voice to have that effect, used a different kind of mic, or used a clip of Bane's voice?

Okay, that was severely epic. Well done sir.

Anouther movie song? I'm kind of surprised, even though I shouldn't be, because there haven't been any major releases lately, and because this summer's biggest movie was released some time ago.

Yeah, it was definitely Gav, since he didn't sound all that much like Bane in my opinion. Still, a valiant effort to replicate a very peculiar voice.

Damnit, double post, ignore this.

DNA was outstanding and this is good, too... but I long for songs connected to games. They don't have to be new releases. Revisit something old and good! (Or old and bad!)

Very vrey well done as always.
Will we be seeing every second song about a game and the other about a movie from now on?
Running out of games or does this freshen it up for you too?
As said earlier, well done!
Greetings from Finland!

Yeah that's me doing my posh English voice lol! And I feel the same about the video, I was tweeting it out last night saying what a spectacular job Justin did :)

Don't worry, next fortnight's song is an old school, game related, pop-structured lyric-heavy MOS tune about a very special game from last year ;)

Hope that next song will be connected with building walls, setting sail and coming home ;)

Yaaaaaaaay this one had lots of lyrics :3 happy cricket is happy. Very well done and i dont think it was meant but i laughed when the moment we see bane for the first time we hear his vader voice box xD it just seems funny since so many people either loved or hated his voice. I'm on the love side since it was just something new and unique sounding....like someone else....who am i thinking of....;)

Holy shit. This is definitely way up there, maybe in the top ten.

The only thing that really stood out to criticize was that the last chorus felt a little flat, like it was building something bigger than the other two but didn't follow through. The louder higher vocals almost did that but it still felt on the same level as the rest of it.

That might entirely be preference, though.

Now I really want to hear this with a live orchestra.

That is well spotted and it's because I slightly over compressed the master file so that it was nice and loud for the people watching on laptops/phones etc. The Bandcamp release will be more dynamic :)

It's not Minecraft if that's what you mean! :D

I just played that song over my workout routine on the first day growing my goatee. I feel more epic than any man has a right to. Time to chew lead and spit bullets at my enemies.

Of course it's not Minecraft, because things I mentioned only happened in the songs, not in game itself. Should have mentioned the announcement of position to your mother in previous post to make it clearer. (Captain Obvious mode really suits me, doesn't it?)

Get this on bandcamp ASAP. I want this in my playlist, yesterday!

Also I think this is your best song so far, really well done!

Captain Cryptic you mean! Maybe it's because I've had 2 beers in celebration of Ireland's Olympic gold medal but I have no clue what you mean hah! :D

Thank you kind Sir, Thank you :-)

More great songs, what would we ever do without you Gav?

I'll once again leave my idea for a LotR based song right about here. I'll also toss in a Borderlands one too.

Nice to hear about Ireland success. I celebrate every gold medal that doesn't go to my country.

About being cryptic - okay, I'll try to make it easier. Spike in a Rail; Build That Wall; Mother, I'm Here; Setting Sail, Coming Home. These names should ring a bell even after beer ;)

OK I finally realized what you meant haha :D Hmmmm ..... we shall see if you are right in 14 days ;)

Glad to here that my awful Russian English can be understood by slightly drunk Irish :D

And about next 14 days.. I hope I'm right, that game was my 2nd favourite of 2011 after Portal 2 ;)

It's funny because Tom Hardy apparantly based his voice on an irish... boxer I think?
